They got back the tendons/veins together. And then his heart. But he always told her he didn’t need the heart scale back. Turns out together with the heart scale she also has his neidan (spiritual energy core?)….so without them he will always be incomplete.

No, in the novel he doesn’t want to take it at all, and even tries out something dangerous towards the end rather than doing it. Because of that she does it in secret and dies, then reincarnates. Wonder if he will give it back to her in the drama after taking it this time…….

Well he was just a doofus dragon cultivating more or less in seclusion for 1000 years and nearing ascension. He didn’t pay much attention to his own kind let alone humans. SY comes along and pretends to collapse at his doorstep doing the damsel in distress thing and apparently that triggered his knight in shining armour complex. Just a rather innocent naive doofus…..when he says that to YH, he’s still learning what true love is.

Oh totally, no doubt whatsoever - at one point he thought she had died and when he saw her alive he just grabbed her and kissed her till she nearly passed out. In the novel he refuses to even consider taking back his scale and more importantly his neidan even tho’ without it they will be annihilated by the bad guy. That’s why she had lie to him and do it secretly.
