So.... I watched this on Viki..... I wish I would've read the reviews before because I was NOT prepared for those NC scenes, not prepared in the slightest. Like OMG. Damn. Anyway, the story was very nice. I liked the ending. I feel it fit the up and down of the situationship between Imagase and Otomo.... there were points in which I was like "girl Imagese, honey you doing too much" and then there were times in which I was like "Otomo, boo, PICK SOMEBODY!!!"
the problem is that with bl the bar is literally on the floor in terms of finding shows that aren't toxic or hypersexual…
I can agree with you on the difficulty of finding a non-toxic relationship in Thai BLs... it's as if communication doesn't exist in their world and when it does exist it's used in such a nonsensical way that it's like "What?" but most BL watchers are young girls who just love to see two good-looking guys kiss and be affectionate. Those of us who care about and want STORY, PLOT, DEPTH OF CHARACTER, and DEVELOPMENT have to deal because we are sadly outnumbered. As someone who is a writer, has worked on scripts and is trying to get into the industry, it's hard, but the popular choice is what will get produced and those of us who love all the aforementioned things have to struggle to find a story that's actually really good, but those get scored low because again it's not what the mainstream wants. They want toxic, they want hard-to-follow storylines.
I enjoyed it.... there was a bit of... how can I put it.... unnecessary stuff happening, but overall it was cute. They could have done so much in the episodes after 3 and before 7. I feel like they were just there for filler and even then it wasn't enough filler. Definitely should have been straightforward with him if he is the man you want to date. You just have all these things behind you and not expect him to be like "So what's that behind you" and you can't expect him to accept "I'll tell you later" NOOOO that's not it. lol but their chemistry was adorable and it was a rom-com for sure.... What I don't understand is why they didn't develop the second "couple" if you could call them that... like how yall both after the same guy but have feelings for each other? It was something that should've been explored and delved deeper into from episodes 4-7. They should've given the mains Episodes 1-3, explored the second episodes 4-6, and wrapped everything up in episodes 7 and 8.... I wouldn't have been mad about 2 extra episodes though.
I haven't watched it but I wonder if people who don't like it are basing it off of something else or just genuinely have such an esteemed palate for BL Dramas that they can digest and regurgitate everything wrong with one that they watch......
I see the trolls from the reddit forums showed up again. This was funny, smart and did not take itself too seriously.…
EXACTLY!!! Out here on dating apps hooking up, but one little approach and flirt and people out here calling the flirter a harasser, like EXCUSE ME? He legit admits that he liked him but was scared. I agree with what you said. It's sad that trolls and people who watch 1 or 2 episodes have so much to say.
Ok I see a lot of intellectuals here who have come straight from reading morality 101 : a guide for dummies..labelling…
I agree wholeheartedly with what you have said. Let's not forget, he also admitted that he liked him but out of fear kept saying "no". His actions after saying "no" were not that of someone who meant "no" and he even took the piece of food from the fork, like if he didn't like the flirting he could have easily STOPPED it just like he stopped the ex. People just like to use words when THEY don't like something and feel the character should feel a certain way. That's why this show has a low score on here because of people, but on VIKI it's sitting at 9.1 so what does that tell you?
I enjoyed it. It was cute. I won't look too deep and overanalyze it, it was a cute little story about polar opposites coming together after one experiences a breakup three years prior. One thing I will say is the one who broke his heart would've definitely gotten a two-piece the moment he wanted to return.... I honestly don't see the issue others are concerned about. I feel others may have overanalyzed the contents of the relationship between the two leads. Would I want someone hassling me to date them, NO, would I turn them away, NO, I'd probably talk to them at some point if I wasn't immediately interested.
For those asking, I do NOT think this is related to Season 1 at all. It's a new cast I believe. You do NOT need to watch Season 1 to understand Season 2. The first season focused on Lee Ro A and Cha Ji Woo and the two ultimately getting together. Season 2 focuses on three different couples. You can watch Season 1, it's nice I liked it, though it was a slow burn indeed.
I started episode 1... I broke my own rule in that I don't start a show until it finishes airing so that I can binge-watch it; however, I was curious and I must say episode 1 was very interesting and I'm intrigued..... Such an odd topic though the "contract" roommate... I wonder if presented with this type of living situation what I would do.....

LISTEN.... y'all had all of SEASON 1 to develop character.... ain't no way yall taking ALL of SEASON 2 to still develop the same character.. like is it even moving at this point? Is it progressing? Is anything happening? At this point, I don't think anything will progress until SEASON 4.... if you are in a relationship, there's no way you're going to be shocked and full of surprise everytime your partner is affectionate......
I CRIED.....and I advise you to stop reading now if you don't want spoilers. It was traumatic, but I love a story that tackles adult topics and does it in a clean way showing the repercussions of one's actions. One thing I didn't like was the President of the company still trying to hide shit at the end; however, the story between Ren and Kazuma... all that they went through, all that Ren went through to keep Kazuma safe and all Kazuma wanted was to be with Ren. The parents overreacted cause ain't no way I'm sending my child to FRANCE and strip them of my last name... Nope, we are a family and we are handling it like a family.
I can understand protecting them but sending them away because you're upset is NEVER the right thing to do. Honey, the way they couldn't keep their hands off of one another though... lol but what irritated me was when Ren met Kazuma's mom and I could tell he was back 10 years ago when she slapped him and he had a full-on panic attack... In his mind, he felt like she would send Kazuma away again or step between them and I can see why he distanced himself, but damn boo you could have at least sent Kazuma a text letting him know you were safe, and that you had to think or something. Leaving him in the dark that long was definitely not a smart idea and I would've popped you before smothering you with love the moment I met you again.
All in all I'll give it a 9/10 because the acting, the chemistry, and the story were all great. The leads definitely had beautiful chemistry in my eyes. The kissing could have been a bit more fluid, but we understand not everybody wants tongues and open-mouth kisses with their partner on screen. The ending was beautiful as well. Definitely wished it had a season 2, but the way they wrapped it up, a season 2 would just showcase them together, maybe getting married in a different country and in the end having a child.
