For better or worse, in the history (?) of C-Dramas, there was no situation when the FL is more powerful/more…
A fighter isn’t just about strength, usually these amazing MLs have been trained since a very young age. Wouldn’t it make sense for the FL, who usually start their journey much later to be not as good?
Really enjoy this drama, but its hilarious to see FL riding a horse in ankle-deep water and 10 seconds later slowly…
In the novel they had a naval battle, a really well written one at that. She had drowned in water in her first life, so during the battle when she was being submerged in the canal, her PTSD kicked in, he was with her and quickly saved her from drowning.
Who is stronger and more accomplished, General Feihong or General Fengyun?
I mentioned it in a reply to another user:
Fengyun is stronger, and it’s normal for him to be stronger, because he’s got both the biology on his side, as well as a much longer time to be trained by transcended masters. He’s been trained pretty much since he could crawl. The FL started her training when she was 14. Massive difference.
Additionally he’s been at the helm of an army for much longer as well. She’s got less experience purely because she had spent much less time as a general or deputy general.

Women are inherently less strong than men physically, that’s just biology. In the book, her prowess comes from more than just physical strength (though in time she attained that as well), but from using her strengths at the right time and in the right place, using the right means.
She’s also very resilient, even when severely hurt, and that’s something only elite soldiers can accomplish through her sheer will power.

I enjoy the drama overall, but they sometimes want to get the plot to a certain point and fail to make it flow…
The princes didn’t do much protection military-wise, they had peaceful times for 20 years in terms of actual assaults. The issues she faced were of the political kind, so she knows very little about defence. I do agree that the tunnel idea was rubbish.
What Master Liu did in the novel was implement a very powerful formation to keep the enemy from assaulting another entrance into the city. Ultimately paying for it with his life.
The classmate dynamics are insanely good in the novel, the drama didn’t portray even a tiny bit of the interesting relationships and history between XJ & co
To all the novel readers how would you rate 1) the novel, 2) the adaptation, on a scale from 1 to 10?
Novel 9.5/10 - only because Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage deserves the true 10/10 or more like 100/10
Drama as an adaptation - 7.5, and that’s mostly because of the actors and their chemistry. Too much of the characters’ depth, dynamics, and brilliance of the plot is missing
Cheng Lei seriously impressed me. I was already acquainted with Zhou Ye from many other projects I really liked, but CL is certainly a massive revelation.
I hope the c-ent will not mistreat him as they have done with so many actors who have risen to insane popularity with pretty much a single drama /sigh
What good news perhaps there is hope for the future adaptation of (THE REBIRTH OF THE MALICIOUS EMPRESS OF MILITARY…
Let’s collectively pray for good casting/actung, directing, writing, editing, special effects, and costumes! That’s my favourite c-novel of all, I faithfully re-read every year 🙏🙏
NO!!! They completely botched the Jinling - Cloud Pavilion arc. What Chonghuai? The story behind 11 youths saving the beauty and her beau, then XJ saving HY (disguised as HRF) - gone! The awesome dynamics between XJ and his schoolmates of present vs past, it’s all lost! 😭😭
