It was indeed a horrible decision on his part, but the drama doesn’t do a good enough job to show the depth of his character and general despair in Rundu, where starved people were littering the streets and people had eaten even grass and mud.
My country had gone through starvation less than 80 years ago. My great-aunts and uncles still remember it. Unfortunately, quite a few people had resorted to cannibalism as well. Slow death by starvation is beyond horrible .
Li Kuang wasn’t nearly as terrible in the novel, why did they have to do this in the drama? If he was that horrible, his personality would’ve been enough to push He Yan away and she wouldn’t have gone to Rundu to save him!
In the novel, Li Kuang wasn’t a risk-taker and he had absolute belief that Feihong General would come to save them, as he’d done in the past. LK didn’t know that HRF was a snake.
The Rundu people were starving, and he was going to resort to cannibalism akin to another Emperor, who’s actually come up with many very smart war tactics, but some also very foolish ones too. To make people agree to such a horrible act, LK led by example by sacrificing the woman he loved most. Before the siege, he had actually treated her really well, and after killing her, he forever regretted it. I think he wasn’t portrayed faithfully in the drama.
Favourite? I’d say that’s the Cloud Pavilion arc, chapters 183-192. It showcases the essence of HY as HRF dynamics with her classmates. It’ll make sense to you, even if you just read those chapters alone
What she got is a title... Actually it was just an empty title with some military perks...Her military rank wasn't…
CZ is such a snake for this. I took his actions as a literal threat from CZ to XJ. I just wanted to throttle him when I was reading this bit in the novel 😒
why is bai shuo dressed like a cutesy mortal in some scenes and then a divine princess and then suddenly again…
From the moment she truly accepts the Demon World as hers, she starts dressing accordingly (ending of ep 7). She only puts on mortal clothing if she’s in the mortal world, and that’s not always either. Hope my answer helps.
can someone spoil me. for those who have read the novel, what did Xiao Jue say to the emperor?
Wouldn’t you want to be pleasantly surprised? In the novel, I thought my heart would stop beating just before the reveal happened, and XJ appeared all badass.

Dashing youth will make more sense if you watch blood of youth first tbh.
However, we’ll see how he’s portrayed in the drama and whether drama XJX is better than drama XJ.
