Reading the comments, many don’t like that the FL used too much makeup, but for me, this is what’s missing…
I actually think she’s got a very basic make up, just enough to show that she cares enough about looking presentable, but not overly bothered by it. It just highlights her femininity, that’s all
Wow, what a drama. I cried so much, my goodness. The ML utterly redeemed himself in my eyes, other characters too. So many crucial lessons to be learned in this story, truly inspiring. I’d certainly recommend this drama to others.
Wu Zhen when she turns on her cat demonic state, she curves her fingers like cat claws. The close-ups are so sharp…
A lot of well-experienced traditional medicine doctors can indeed tell a lot just by checking your pulse, looking at your face, and tongue. It shows that you’ve never met a specialist, not that they don’t exist.
I’ve only seen Song Yi in Destined, and both her & BJT were great in it, with good chemistry (though that’s to be expected given that they were together for a long time) and pretty good acting. We’ll see how she fares in this one, I hope she’ll show a different side to herself.
I trust Cheng Lei to do a good job, as well. I have yet to see an actress with whom he’s got bad chemistry, and his acting has been solid, and has only improved. He wasn’t the XJ I initially expected, but he certainly made the character his and delivered above and beyond. Excited for this one!
What’s with the comments? When you act, you must be accountable for your actions. If only everybody could get the justice they deserve for their actions.
For those who haven’t read the novel, here’s a very basic summary of how the actual ending played out. Please…
Yan He with the Yan army was sent to one city where there was a plague outbreak, He Yan with the Fuyue army was sent to another, and Xiao Jue with the Xiao army was sent to a city very far from either Yan He or He Yan. There was another veteran general sent to another city, but that was only a small battle.
Yan He kept pushing the enemies, but protecting one of his soldiers, he got shot by a poisoned arrow in his arm. XJ’s best friend, Dr Lin (who was there to stop the plague) tried his best, but ultimately Yan died because he kept pushing himself too much. The battle took months, his wife was at home in the capital.
He Yan, after emerging victorious from her own battles, using very smart tactics due to having experience with fighting in the desert, was the first one to achieve victory. She managed to get the Fuyue army to accept her (since she wasn’t General Feihong, but a different reincarnated He Yan). She also had the least number of opponents in comparison to XJ & YH, but it was still a huge enemy army. Because Yan knew he was going to die, he asked for her help, knowing that she was closest and able to provide timely help. He left for her loads of info on what he observed about the enemy.
Meanwhile, XJ faced the biggest Wutuo army of all, and it took him quite a long while to repel the enemy, but he did do it. He wanted to help HY, but he had promised her before the war that they would not comprise their armies for the sake of each other. He returned to the capital, and there was no news of He Yan except that she was very badly wounded.
Ultimately, she returned with the Fuyue and Yan army, having successfully repelled the enemy. Her leg was badly wounded, and for a while she needed a cane, but did fully recover. It took 3 years for Dr Lin to cure her body, so that XJ & HY could conceive. They had one daughter, Yao Yao. We only get a glimpse into 7 years in the future, so they had plenty of time to have more kids.
Chu Zhao barely saved his skin after his master got imprisoned. He even jumped ship from Crown Prince’s faction to the 4th Prince’s who had the help of Yan He & Xiao Jue pre-war. Chu Zhao left politics, and went to Jiyang where he taught music I think.
Yan He had a son, who loved to challenge XJ & HY to duels, just like his dad. XJ & HY were his teachers as well. His mum loved her husband and passed away 30 years later, without remarrying.
Edit: there was no drama regarding XJ and HY’s marriage. They got bestowed marriage by the emperor at the very Mid-Autumn banquet, where HY was publicly outed as a woman. They got married very quickly. At the same banquet, the empress bestowed marriage on Chu Zhao & Xu Pingting. They didn’t get properly married because the Xu PM got arrested before the wedding. CZ still took Pingting in as a concubine, but hadn’t touched her I don’t think.
I loved the discussion between Mei Zhuyu and Commander Xu! So much insight into a side character through just a couple of lines: “This is too heavy for me. I can’t take it with me, so I’ll leave it to you.” Perfection!
