There are too many filler scenes, I wish they’d move along with the plot. The novel is very much to the point, no unnecessary scenes, not sure why the script writers decided to add so much padding to the story. It’s no wonder that the Douban score is so low. Such a pity

It’s amnesia due to the partial fusion with the Jade Immortal Gu for most of the novel. In the drama, the fusion is already apparently complete.

There’s a difference between being neglectful of your health when you are protecting your country & people vs just drinking.

So by your own words, the doctor also broke her character to suggest the FL she enter a drinking completion.

My point was that a smart FL should not be following foolish people. It’s out of character behaviour and a weak overly-used plot device.

Just because some men do it, doesn’t make it less cringe. Just because somebody else is wasting their health and life doesn’t mean others should follow to prove something. That’s beyond childish and foolish.

Her best friend is a healer, and she told Li Shuang to compete. What doctor would say that to somebody who’s still taking medicine for their illness? It’s bonkers. In the novel, Li Shuang was much more aware that she has health issues, and wouldn’t look for ways to worsen her health.

What’s the point of making such a statement that she can drink as well as a man? It’s a useless “achievement”.

Wrong. Chinese medicine was one of the first traditional medicines to identify drinking in excess as harmful, due to introducing damp and heat into the body, which could lead to chronic issues of the organs and bones. Moreover when injured, they would strictly avoid drinking alcohol, and spicy / greasy food. Even then they had already discovered which foods were cold/hot/damp in nature, and how they impacted the body.

Why do they keep making the FLs drink so much in dramas? Like it’s really bad for your health, especially when injured, so why do it? 🤔🫠

P.S. Imagine how far removed from power must those soldiers be not to recognise DAD. I do feel sorry for DAD. No matter who currently wields the power in Yao country, foot soldiers are still part of his nation

In the novel, he was still a kid when he smelled her have her period (though due to her lifestyle, her periods were pretty irregular, one every few months and only for a couple of days, but accompanied by loads of pain for 1-2 weeks). He had a healer girl come and prescribe her medicine and apply acupuncture. He wasn’t attracted to that blood, but he was beside himself with worry due to her being in pain. Unlikely to be included in the drama, since in the drama her bestie is already a healer

Agreed! I think her portrayal of a female general is very on point. She’s not OP, she tires out after prolonged fighting, sometimes makes mistakes, but learns from it and is always striving to improve herself. That’s how a proper character should be written

They’ve already changed quite a bit, so the novel ending is unlikely to happen in the drama. I look forward to the drama surprising me with an exciting plot development
