I do like the drama, but the time skips take a bit of time to adjust to. I understand that the novel covers hundreds of years, I just wish we had a bit more clarity on what’s going on, even via a basic narration, which we sometimes get from the ML
While all other reasons are valid as well but I like to add regarding the story that this will be set in a past…
It’s only 8 years earlier than TBOY, given that he’s already reached adulthood, no physical changes were likely to occur, to a cultivator of all people
Han Li collects trophies and takes down enemies on the sly like I play Hogwarts a Legacy - almost always in stealth mode and inventory full of potions 🤣🤣🤣
Certainly not. In fact I find him very off-putting
His makeup is truly doing him a disservice, bringing out features that I personally dislike. Instead of showing him as mighty, I see him as a cruel, and parasite-like coward.
To be fair, at this point neither ML nor FL are in love with each other or anything like that. Some, ahem, “things”…
I’m pretty sure that she’s supposed to gain cultivation from intercourse, that’s pretty well established in xianxia/wuxia. Perhaps it’s more to do with her forcefully lowering her cultivation and their relationship being more like an inner demon.
It's not the actors. "Chemistry" is created by the director. He can make them look in love or drag it…
He’s certainly coming off as aloof, yet I’d say he’s shown pretty good rapport with the Mo girl, Li Feiyu, and a few others. We’ll see as the story goes.
Somebody wrote in a review that “it’s hard to watch 36 episodes and keep track of all of the plot points, and it’s the watchers who can’t keep up, it’s not that the show is bad.”
My reply to that person: I’ve watched Story of MingLan 12 times. It’s got 73 episodes! I’ve watched loads of other really good dramas with over 60 episodes, repeatedly. When a story is well written and well acted, you don’t even care how many episodes there are.
In this drama, the actors did their utmost, but the writing is just so lacklustre, what could those actors even do at this point? Smh

I used to be a ballroom and Latino pro-dancer, because of that I generally easily spot when two people have chemistry or not. In dancing, most couples with little chemistry, no matter how individually skilled, they would rarely win competitions. It’s just how it is
The cinematography is great though, pity about the story
