I liked the drama, and while the FL was a bit too perfect, the actress did her best to show her as more human and less of a Mary Sue. It would’ve been better if they had given her a bit more of a character development and not made her pretty much infallible. Not that she hadn’t learnt certain things at all, but let’s be honest, they weren’t major flaws. Even her impulsiveness was shown as being righteous, and through its consequences - ultimately a good thing.

The ML’s growth was quite good, but certain actions of his (like taking several royal family members into the Hua family & not even telling his sister about their family’s situation) are on the questionable side.

They spent more time in some baby bathing ritual while glossing over deaths of family members they dislike. WTH…

Title My Demon Spoiler
Is There A Love Triangle???
Not really. There’s a guy who likes the FL, and another lady who likes the ML, but it’s only one-sided, for both.

Title My Demon
The ending of the drama does leave something very important unresolved: he will keep looking young, while she ages. Basically Twilight 2.0 dilemma, which cannot be resolved through DoHee becoming a demon, similar to how Bella became a vampire.

He will either have to choose to become human (if that’s even allowed), or at some point not be able to be seen with her in public or even in photos, unless he makes himself look older.

Don’t even get me started on what will happen once she passes away (from old age). Will he choose to disappear from the world again (a la Edward Cullen)? Sad…

Just like you, I’m in awe that the Chinese censors allowed such HOT kisses to be shown in the drama. Who cares about the drama plot, the FL & ML could light up a small county with the power of their chemistry 🤭

The kisses were super hot, yet the proposal was pretty cringe 🫣

Sometimes age gaps can be an issue for couples, however that’s mainly due to lack of good communication and often wanting different things from a relationship. In their case, they complement each other really well and want the same thing, so it worked out really well ❤️

Title Go Go Squid!
Am trying so hard to watch this all the way through, but I'm really questioning the writers and POB's proclivities.…
She’s 19, it’s mentioned several times in the drama. After her birthday, she’s 20. She’s a genius kid, who skipped grades, and got straight into undergraduate studies at 15.

Because she studied so much to get into postgraduate studies at 18, she’s very awkward with people. That was also stated several times. In fact, she even mentioned it herself, that she had a hard time connecting to her classmates because of their age difference and her academic performance, often ending up saying something offensive without meaning it.

One of the reasons she feels so happy with him is because he’s just as direct, and through him she stepped into a world foreign to her, yet very welcoming, loving, and supportive.

Perhaps it’ll help you if you read the book. She fell in love with him at first sight, and being the very goal-orientated person she is, she did her 100% to pursue him and succeeded. Most of their physical interactions, particularly when it comes to taking the next step in their relationship, were initiated by her as well. In fact, she told him she wanted him to be way more physical with her, which he was wary of doing given the age difference.

Have we watched the same drama? 🫠

The FL & ML have superb chemistry, I can’t wait for him to kiss her already and relieve me if this crazy tension…
The ending was good, except that from history we know that pretty much all of the revolutionary army generals got killed by the communist party…

Title Fall in Love
The 2ML is a great man, but fundamentally he doesn’t understand the FL. He doesn’t see her real self, only an illusion he’s created and she didn’t bother to dispel for him. On the other hand, the ML not only knows her real self, he supports and encourages her to be as truthful with herself and her desires as possible. That’s the big difference.

In a relationship that lasts, knowing your partner is quintessential.

I rewatched this drama recently, and Zhao LiYing & Willian Chan are truly 70% of the reason I stuck with watching it in the first place. Perhaps they’ll have another drama together at some point 🙏

Finally, someone who really understands what this drama is all about.
I was born in USSR, things like rights, freedom, and progress were entirely foreign to us. When USSR fell, we were literally plunged into the deep end.

As a people, my countrymen have always been highly adaptable, and we started learning French, English, German, etc from a very young age to quickly be able to keep up pace with the West, yet my grandparents and great grandparents were almost too old for such things. Even my parents struggled despite being pretty young when USSR fell.

I really feel sorry for the elderly Chinese people. Only they know what a harsh life they’ve led so far.
