That’s not true. Every time Jin Buyeon acted like Naksu, he kept either saying that she was driving him crazy or confusing him (because he kept seeing his dead lover in the actions of his very alive wife). His eyes would get large, he’d stop whatever he was doing just to check Buyeon was still Buyeon, because of the crazy similarities. It’s called subtlety and not feeding everything on a platter to the viewer. It’s an art which is unfortunately on the brink of disappearing from dramas and films altogether

In Ancient China and Korea, they used stone towers instead of one single grave stone like they do in the west. I believe that’s his way of commemorating the dead he has slayed. Those bodies once belonged to somebody else after all, before their souls got forcefully removed from the body through the Alchemy of Souls.
In the drama Island, the ML also creates gauges stone towers to commemorate the dead he’d killed.

For the body to be saved, Naksu’s memories had to be wiped out. That way her soul could achieve harmony with the body. To heal the petrified body, Naksu’s soul energy was used. Her body reflected the visage of the soul energy it used.

I think if they avoided having the FL be romantically involved with the ML at all, it would’ve been a much better story. It’s quite fun and entertaining, but her feelings for him just feel fake beyond belief. At least he’s a good enough actor to make it seem somewhat believable. Sigh

Finished watching Alchemy of Souls for the 5th time as my husband watched it for the very first time. He’s now complaining that I got him to feel the same withdrawal symptoms I have been experiencing LMAO
Watched this drama for her first time pretty much a decade late. Though the hairdo and some attires are a bit meh, everything else was very nice and entertaining. I recommend the drama 👍👍
Jank Uk crying during his wedding is actually quite in character I’d say. He knew Naksu/Cho Yeong/ Bu Yeon wouldn’t have long to live (thanks to Seo Yul’s confession), but was still grateful to be able to marry her and be with her even for a bit of time. During the wedding scene, you can see his heart is both happy and agonising over the future. His red and almost teary eyes made the scene so much better IMO.
The scene where both Bu Yeon/Cho Yeong and Jang Uk know that she’s Naksu, but can’t actually voice it, was heartbreaking. Both LJW and GYJ were teary eyed, so close to simply crying, but not allowing themselves to do it because there are important things to do for Daeho.
Generally Lee Jae Wook is a great actor and he’s certainly won me over with his portrayal of Jank Uk. Can’t imagine another actor playing him. His chemistry with both So Min and Youn Jung was off the charts.
