last two episodes piised me off so bad i'm taking back my comment.... i just know a makjang writer somewhere laughing villainously. Don't get me wrong. I was able to follow along with the story easily and i saw what and where they wanted to go with it; if you've watched soap opera, telenovella or makjang then you would understand exactly whatg i mean. It's just the last two episodes that fucked me up. Like there are things even I can't look pass.... I've been laughing in trauma and disappointment for the last hour.

I'm so convinced people are rating this low just because. Even till today i still don't get why "The Silent Sea also kinda flopped. There's just no way. Like I get that everybody wanna say the leads are cheaters or whatever but the context between the ML and SFL relationship has been there since the first episode, it was very obvious he didn't love her Furthermore he didn't kiss or sleep with Eve while in a ralationship He literally ended things with Go eun.

I don't think the cgi is bad either so im genuinly shock right now. Yeah I fully get that the theme might not be everyone cop of tea but the lowest rathing this should be if we're being unbiased and fair is 7.8-8.2.

I really wanna watch....I really do, infact i already tried several times. FL is a terrible actress and her character very annoying and non-sensical omg i can't deal with it. I think I'll have to skip all her scenes then read about them during a drama recap. she's so bad omg

Two things can be true at the same time. Teacher Lei was a terrible husband and a terrible father despite him not wanting to be. His family was never his first priority , one could even say he favored his children more than he did his own child. In my opinion he never put out enough effort to care for his child or his sick wife, even if he regretted it later on in is life he's still very much a terrible person. Yes he did brought hope to hundreds of other students EXCEPT HIS OWN. Characters can be terrible all the way without coming up with excuse for them; painting them as kind and nice but don't know how to show it to their own child and wife??? just them??? okay

and everybody acting as if Lei Ming owe them something??? regardless of what was intentions were he's the only person who didn't give up on those children but yes lets crucify him over one bad thing

Though dramatized his story has been adopted so many times, there's also his "sillok" . Like nobody said he was a good person nor was i justifying his action. After doing a thorough research on him I understood why he did all that he did. You're saying he needed to handle it differently, HOW? how do you rule a monarch with nobody on your side? Furthermore This story solely focuses on the Queen and what roled she played in history it does not highlight a single thing King Taejoong did or any changes he made in history. But shows everything that he did that affected the queen negatively, it's to keep the story going but as i said I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE.

I understand why the rating is low. Most people will see the first few ep and think “oh another man who can’t handle a domineering woman” but the story is way more than that. We’re watching as both the Queen and the king become at odds with each other even though they deeply love and care for one another. We're seeing how the ministers are taking advantage of it too even down to the very subject the king trust. There’s just so much but most of all both the king and Queen are blinded because one is oblivious and the other doesn’t communicate well.

It's not really insecurities when we've already establish that they really want him to become a puppet.
I'm currently on ep8 and I wouldn't say he's impulsive to be fair, I just think he isn't has meticulous as the queen. and the queen has so many outside informant plus her brain too so.......

He has not lost sight, the Joseon he dreams have does not include nobles who wheel power the way the Min family or the distance royal family do. From even before he came to the palace and he was a prince, The Min family has never viewed him has their future king. The person they really wanted on that thrown was Won Gyeong but because she isn't a man. They have zero respect for the king and the think he owes them something. He needs a firm foundation and absolute power and control over his subjects for him to be able to rule properly, That is what he's obsessed about. Establishing himself and be out of the Min family shadows as well as the Queen's.

This is also somthing that's like my personal opinion but I kinda think he's paranoid too, the way he took the crown slaying his brothers and fighting his father could very well be exactly how he or the crown prince lose their position without a firm foundation under them. Remember all of this rebellion started because they had decided that the one who sits high is making the people suffer and they need to change that, if they were to change it only to input a puppet king then......

The queen cannot simultanously be the daughter of the Min family and the queen of the nation when her family is greedy and will forever hold the king in contempt and threanten his position. As you've probably already seen the whole entire court sides with the brothers in episode 7. Not a singe subject took the king serious or was on his side. Seeing all that do you really think he's simply focus on wanting to be in control or does it look like HE NEEDS TO ESTABLISH control over HIS NATION and people?

The queen is playing both sides and don't even know it. She's oblivious as to why the King feels empty and lonely even though in her eyes she has done nothing but support him. Her supporting him was never the problem, it's her family and all the other powerful figures who wants to extend a hand in return to him turning a blind eye or for the king to favor him; and those are the very nobles he's trying to get rid of. The ones who are in high position but abuse their power making the people of the country suffer.

I really don't think it's about ego. It's the fact he's in the highest position there is and he still has no control over the country that should be his. He wants a fear opportunity to lead but with the queen family wheeling more than half of the power in HIS country, there's no way for him to leave the shadow of the queen and be able to make decision on his own without her or her family rebutting against him. You've already seen how greedy the brothers are, the king has long seen this and that's why he always feel lonely and cast to the side. Yes the Queen loves him but as long as her family stays in power they'll continue to become greedy, he'll never truly be "King" where he makes his "own" decision for the country or people; and in return the king and queen relationship will remain strain because of it.

I'm watching episode 7 afterwork and surely nough I was right. Look at how the brother controlled the court and had them plead ffor him to take the military commander position. This is partly the Queen fault, she gave them too much leeway and in the end not even she will be able to divert their actions or greed for power. I could already see exactly where it was going ever since he Yeong Sil said the King became lonely. It wasn't about romance, Nobody in the Min family saw him beyond being Won Yeong husband, o them he is still insignificant and replaceable once he decides to become weary of them or they don't get their own way like now with the position tye brother wants.

I think ya'll are severely wrong about the king. This isn't about his ego, there's so many people on his side yet so little. It's not that he fears the Queen and her power, it's the fact she's more powerful than him IN A SENSE where her family is turning him into a puppet. The Queen CANNOT fully be Queen of Joseon and simultaneously be the daughter of Min family especially with the power that family wheels. Even in the righteous of man in the eye of power may falter. There’s bound to be some abuse of power by those brothers and the father simply because they’re the Queens brothers/father. They’ll become entitled even if it’s a little bit and they’ll continuously feel like the King owes them something every time he disagree with them in court.

They've even raised the idea of replacing him already. Before anybody start mouthing off I DO NOT AT ALL THINK THE WAY HE DECIDED TO ASSERT DOMINANCE IS RIGHT, however I think it was somewhat necessary even though he went with the scummiest,lowliest way. Not for the reason he did it for, to spite or keep the queen in check but to show the Min family that he too can also find outside power apart from the queen family.

I think you guys are veiwing him just as a normal man; he's a king without his own power, a king who ascending the thrown by the people's blood, a king who stepped over his own father and brothers to power, A king with hardly any respect from the min family, a king who will also be held in contempt of the Min family, A king who will always be scene by the people as ruthless due to the many he killed to be where he is. A king without real power because the Min family constantly remind him in court everyday.

Using the queen love for you to in return spite her was avery nasty move; weaponizing her love for her maids and sleeping with them to hurt her is even nastier. But at the end of the day that's the only weapon he has.

Back then that was honestly the purpose of concubines; 1. to sleep with the king whenever the queen becomes ill or is with child, among other things; the mosrt important one was to balanced out power. The king court is unbalance with Min family being the only ones wheeling immense power. The land and riches they have not even the king has them. Imagine the subject being more powerful than the King just with money and fame alone.

Ofcourse he would've been a different man if he were never king or had any desire to ascend. Just maybe he could've lived a comfortable life just has a royalty/prince, then there would be no reason for him to find the power of his in-laws overbering. But when you're king and you can't even be in control or on the same side as your subject, one become weary.

So is it really about ego? It's still a power struggle and he's still trying to establish his position as king. The Min family only really care about the queen and keeping her in her position, they are not subjects off the king but instead the Queen's men. Everybody sees it as if the Min family as always helped and been there for the king but that is not so, the more they "help" the smaller his magesty power and place in the court becomes. He will only contnue to become destabilize and ultimately what the king fears, becoming a puppet. That might not be the intention but that will eventually happened. And even though the queen means well, she's oblivious as to why he's acting out, she knows the power he family holds but does not keep her brothers in check (as much as she should) They come and go from heer palace, they indulge in secret messenger and the regularly break royal command, speaking out when they have no right power to.

See my point still remain. You’re trying to make an excuse because the offender is a woman. I need you to understand a peeping Tom is simply just a peeping Tom, disgusting and lowly. So whether he or she wanked while watching it doesn’t matter the fact that he violated those people privacy by secretly watching them is simply unacceptable. But ofcourse you can’t see that because of who the offender is.

I think everyone is misunderstanding something here. I DO NOT CARE WHO SHE WAS PEEPING AT. She was peeping ….that’s the whole point. And I can already see that a lot of you missed that with the way you’ve misunderstood thinking I raised concern simply because of a “if the roles were reversed” yes and no. Not only is she peeping at two people, it wasn’t her alone btw; but not only was she peeping the person she was leering at was her older brother. I don’t care of small and innocent looking the act was, as a woman if I were to imagine a man doing this I already know how disgusted I’d feel so I’m curious as to why nobody feels the same way when it’s a woman?
