I need you to read with comprehension. Stating an opinion based on things and patterns you've noticed in an artist doesn't automatically mean you don't like them simply because you've listed and highlighted those things. Is it empty in your skull?
This literally has nothing to do with whether I like the artist personally. This is solely about their job and how they perform. Furthermore, this isn't about whether they can or cannot act; I think they CAN act. They're just not performing to the standard I personally expect from a lead, especially when the supporting cast and the other lead actor consistently outshine and stand out more than they do. This has happened across all of their projects that I've watched, and that's how I came to the conclusion that it may simply be a matter of where their strengths are best suited.
It's about where their strong suit is, where they'll shine better, and why they're not shining in the position they're currently in. I'm not saying they can't act; I'm saying that based on the pattern I've observed, I don't think the lead role is where they're able to showcase their strengths most effectively.

But it should MAINLY come down to your acting skills and your ability to hold an audience. Obviously, there are other criteria for casting a lead; star power, popularity, chemistry with the other leads, marketability, etc. but none of those things can compensate forever if the actual performance isn't strong enough to carry the story.
If they're being consistently outshone by the supporting cast in 95% of your projects or it's the other lead that is essentially carrying the show, then at some point you have to question whether they're actually suited for lead roles. I'm not saying they can't act. I'm saying that being able to give a decent performance is different from being able to carry an entire show. A supporting role might allow them to play to their strengths without having to shoulder the same weight as the lead.
EDIT: I'm intentionally being vague, BTW. Not because I'm scared of keyboard fingers. I just wanted to get my point/opinion across without people thinking I'm deliberately slandering the specific artist because I'm an anti-fan or a fan of one of their rivals.
I don't wanna sound mean or harsh, but I genuinely believe some actors/actresses are ONLY able to shine and be at their full acting potential when supporting lead actors. Not everyone has the star power to play lead characters, and this isn't hate. One of the leads here just does not have what it takes to carry a show despite their popularity. I think they'd play excellent supporting characters, and their acting would shine more. After watching several of their projects, this is my conclusion.

I can't be watching no two ep a day. I need atleast 6 back to back episodes. But I feel so left out here, omg. the show is so good. it's like a drug right now. I'm already going through withdrawal from delaying my next watch.
6th time rewatching. I love this drama so much. The acting was so natural, it didn't feel like I was watching characters being played at all. The love they showed for each other felt so real like I'm watching a real couple. I've never seen such onscreen chemistry from anybody else.
I also loved how they're both equally crazy for each other. Nobody chased one more than the other. They were both madly in love. LOVED THAT!

My comment made three points: 1. the marketing of emotional abuse as if it’s romance; 2. the pandering toward Western markets and its influence on Asian dramas; and 3. the decline in good storytelling and cinematography because of said pandering. Outside of this being erotic, the storytelling is also trash, which I spoke about in the second part of my comment. Overly sexually explicit series WILL NEVER be enjoyable, hot or affirming to me… especially when the story always revolves around women being taken advantage of and then have said person who emotionally abuse them be posed as their love interest! Yes this isn’t a new thing there were a few other kdramas like them back in the days and those weren’t successful either. Sex only sells to people who are ignorant.
They also need to go back to the basic and think long and hard about WHY Asian drama gain global recognition….. hint: it was never about pondering to the west and making the same kind of shows and stories they do!! It was the unique and compelling storytelling and cinematography.

It's NAWT for jobless people or students. It's Chinese original drama standard! Every country has a different format for airing their TV shows/dramas. This is just a China and Asian drama overall-alike method.
The episode limit ban was only for one reason.....They thought actors were making too much money, but they passed it off as if they wanted to boost content quality. Instead, when dramas got shorter, the quality only continued to deplete, among several other pressing concerns. Hence, the ban was lifted.
If you're to check out the most successful Chinese dramas, which, BTW, also put China on the map, it'll be dramas that were 44–50+ episodes or more. The Story of Minglan, Empresses in the Palace, Yanxi Palace, Empress of China, Legend of Mi Yue, and that's just to name a few off the top of my head, BTW.
If you're a recent C-drama fan, just say that. But long stories, especially for historical adaptations, have always been the standard for Chinese dramas. Let's take this Western bullshit somewhere else. We ACTUAL Asian drama fans wanna eat good. God knows we deserve it after all the recent bullshit they've been putting out because of the limit/ban!

If you've ever started a drama that has already finished airing what do you do then? go through the comment and get spoilers for no reason when you can just read the synopsis look on the casting list to see if you'll like it or not?

You shouldn't be watching Asian dramas overall then. And this is no shade to you....40+-80 episodes per drama has always been a thing with C-drama and 20-32 episodes for K-drama with soap operas spanning to over 150-200 episodes. The length of 40 episodes max was implemented during covid; Most Asian drama fans who watch for compelling stories and acting are all in favor of shows going back to the original length.
This was such an enjoyable watch and for the first time this year I didn't think the ending was rushed. I really wished they had explore more into Bona and Tae Min friendship as well as her life back in Russia with Seul Gi. Outside of that I think everything was wrapped out nicely and I loved the fact that despite being found out she didn't leave her field for good and still is behind the scenes punishing bad guys. Very underrated but tasteful show!
