I’m asking you to show me where my analysis is wrong; essentially, show me why I cannot call my conclusion the objective truth/fact based on the criteria I used.

Give me examples of where Sun Qian actually demonstrates those standards. If you believe she meets them, that is. Then do the same analysis I did: identify the standard, point to the performance, and explain how she demonstrates it. Which, again, would give you grounds to argue that my conclusion is incorrect.

I gave my conclusion based on established criteria used to evaluate acting. If you’re going to rebut that conclusion, then rebut it using the same criteria. Otherwise, you telling me that calling my conclusion an objective fact is wrong would also just be... your personal opinion with nothing backing it. 🤷‍♀️

While personal taste plays a role, critics, filmmakers, and acting techniques such as the Stanislavsky principles generally measure acting quality through specific core traits. Therefore, there are five objective traits/core standards that actors and actresses are expected to possess to be considered good/great performers, regardless of whether art itself is subjective.

Whether you personally like a performance or not is subjective, but performances are still judged against established criteria—mainly these five core standards.

Well naurr 😭 especially when my opinion was formed by analyzing what is considered good/great acting according to established standards used by film critics. My conclusion didn’t come out of thin air or simply because I personally dislike her acting. I analyzed her performance against the core standards critics use to evaluate an actor’s performance and found that she consistently fails to meet them.

So while you can call my conclusion an opinion because it is ultimately my assessment, the criteria I used to reach that conclusion are objective. I’m not saying, “She’s a bad actress because I said so.” I’m saying that based on the established standards used to evaluate acting, her performance fails to meet those standards. That is why I said my conclusion is objectively supported and can be seen as a objective fact.

ALSO.....I don’t see why you’re getting defensive when you’re the one who tried to rebut me. If you want to challenge my conclusion, then your rebuttal needs something to substantiate it.

I’m judging her acting skills based on established industry standards for evaluating performance. What are YOU basing your opinion on? On what grounds are you rebutting my conclusion? Simply saying “that’s subjective” doesn’t actually counter my argument.

There's no nice way to say this so i'll just say it plainly.....I'm sorry, but she has been acting since 2016 with little to no hiatus. That’s 10 years of acting experience. The fact that you used the term “okay” to describe her acting tells me even you aren’t convinced that she’s a good actress.

A veteran actress with an acting degree, no less, yet she acts like a rookie who was cast straight off the streets. I genuinely don’t even know what emotion to feel at this point other than disappointment. Her skills are undeveloped and un-honed, and she exhibits none of the core standards required to be classified as a good/great actress according to the standards of critics.

And this is after TEN YEARS in the industry.

Her performance being described as merely “okay” is, in itself, enough to demonstrate that she’s a bad actress. After ten years, “okay” should NOT be where the bar is.

While that might be true, when one defines what is classified as good/great acting, her performance falls short of all five core standards. Hence why I stated that my opinion could also be seen as an objective fact. If, however, you can prove me wrong and pinpoint any of her dramas/movies where she exudes these standards, I’ll gladly take back my words on it being objectively truthful.

Off topic but your first kdrama being Doctor Romantic makes me wanna be your friend. That wasn’t my first drama but it’s literally my all time favorites(I’m in the medical field). I literally rewatched it almost every year on Christmas or my birthday. We’re also into the same kinda genre although I lean more towards mystery and thrillers. Anyways I love LOVE your taste!

As soon as somebody speak up about something that’s out of general public favor/interest ya’ll call them bitter. What’s wrong with critiquing an actress acting?? What exactly is bitter about it? Not once did I make the actress herself a target of my ridicule I’ve only ever spoken on her skills at her job and even defended her when they tried to be rude to her because she pronounced a English word with an accent even though she’s not a native or fluent English speaker.

I don't know about anybody else, but I couldn't care less how popular or good the story is or how beautifully the show is film. If one of the lead actors CANNOT act for shit, imma drop the show like a bad habit. Female Lead cannot act.

My critique comes after watching several of her previous works. If you think I’m biased then that’s your prerogative. All I know is I’ve only watched and made my comments from an objective standpoint. So people thinking I’m from a specific fanclub speaking hate cause MY FAVE didn’t get the role can lay such assumptions to rest. While they’re a few actors and actresses dramas that I look forward to I don’t have a specific favorite actor or actress. I do however have a preference for actors, meaning I’m more likely to check out the works of more stable actors actresses I know already will deliver exceptional performances rather than a new and upcoming actor or actress. If you should make a compilation of her scenes from different dramas which are likely different genre you genuinely would not be able to tell the difference with how dry and stiff her face is. And no she isn't being type casted where she plays similar or near to the same characters. She's just extremely bad at her job. She is 29 and isn't a rookie. That’s quite unfair when you think about it. They’re Chinese/asians; their first language isn’t English it’s pretty normal for them to incorrectly pronounce an English word/name because of their mandarin accent . I’m sure I myself also mispronounced several Asian words and names because of my English or Jamaica accent!

Unless they’re fluent in the language mispronunciation are to be expected which is completely out of their control as for her acting…..she went to school, graduated and got degreed yet is somehow still extremely under qualified it’s like a brain surgeon graduating valedictorian with a hand tremor.

I don’t know if the rumors he cheated on Hyeri is true or not but base on how the situation played out when the rumors started. Base on the contrast between how he and Han So Hee responded I totally understand his actions now. He’s never been one to be in the news and that was literally his first ever scandal.

He made no comment at all even when he was being dragged for filth so I believe he truly avoid the entertainment news or else anybody would’ve responded to such criticism because of how damaging it’s to his public image.

Back to my main point; regardless of everybody find him attractive or not I think he’s an exceptional actor and I mean he’s better than 99% of all these actors and even actresses who find handsome and beautiful. An actor like him sees acting as an art form instead of a simple job to gain popularity. You can see this base on the type of projects he accepts. He almost never plays a character without dept.

If Flora is supposed to be experiencing joy, jealousy, shock, heartbreak, nervousness, attraction, anger, etc., I need to SEE those emotions happening on her face. Give me a twitch. A squint. A raised eyebrow. A trembling lip. SOMETHING. 😭

I shouldn’t be able to pause the screen at any random moment and she looks exactly the same, regardless of what the scene/situation is about… we have a problem.

As the Female lead I need more than just photogenic. I need range. Especially when the character, Flora, clearly has more emotional depth than what we’re being shown.

Omg…..I know I just spoke on this yesterday, but we really REALLY REALLY need to do something about the Female Lead and her (LACK OF) ability to properly express herself through her facial expressions and body language. there’s a difference between a character being reserved/dry and an actor giving you the exact same facial configuration in every emotional circumstance. And this is exactly why I hate the idea of casting based on popularity and good looks. I’m so sick of seeing talentless people on my screen. And this has nothing to do with misogyny before y’all start….. I’ve seen her other dramas, and she truly only has that one monotonous, stiff expression. Her face is set in place, and I hate that for her so much.

I saw this same issue in other characters (like LSI1970s, I liked it cause I thought that was how her character was written given the time and how they treated women for having opinions back then) she played and I thought oh maybe it’s because those characters were written like that but no it’s just her. She can’t act.

An apology where you don't take full accountability for your actions in their entirety isn't an apology at all. If the blame needs to be shifted so you can feel like a better person, then how is that an apology?

Nobody is asking for some long, dramatic apology scene. What we're asking for is an ACTUAL apology, where they don't shift the blame to make her look and feel better, but instead have her take full accountability for bullying a boy to the point of traumatizing him and nearly blinding him.

Imagine this being a real-life situation where they took it to the bullying committee, and that was the apology she gave to the victim and his family. I'm sure everyone would see the contrast and how ungenuine her words were. It would show that she simply apologized so he would stop doing to her the things she had previously done to him, rather than actually reflecting on her past actions and how deeply they affected him.

If you're taking her acknowledgement as a REAL apology, then you're way dumber than you should be at your big age. That was hardly an apology when you consider the fact that, instead of having the writers make her apologize and take accountability FULLY, they found a way to equally blame the male lead the reactive actions he did because of her past actions.

If she really understood the gravity of her actions and how they affected the ML(HE CLEARLY EXPLAINED THIS TO HER BTW), then when he praised her right afterward for all of her overbearing actions, along with everything else, she should've stopped him right there and focused on properly apologizing and acknowledging what she had done to him for him to react this way towards her even after so many years..

It became more of a "I'm sorry you felt that way" instead of "I'm sorry that my actions contributed to you becoming this way." Instead of having her genuinely apologize, they shifted the blame and redirected the conversation in a way that made her look like there actions were equally terrible when his was done karmic, so she could physically understand how she made his life hell.

Just saying, "I'm sorry. Thinking back, a lot of my actions were wrong" after nearly blinding him and traumatizing him to the point that he resorted to changing schools rather than remaining her deskmate WAS NOT AN APOLOGY. She was not at all remorseful, somewhat ashamed at best. But sorry she was not!

Nobody is being bias or unfair towards the character. She is self-centered and unfair while also being quite unlikely in several other aspects. The Ml started treating her exactly like she did him in middle school and she found it unfair and abusive totally forgetting this is a retake of what she herself did to someone else. When confronted about her pass actions she found several excuse with the ultimate one being "she didn't mean to harm him, they were children playing and being funny"

Accountability is due. GET THE FUCK ON!
