don’t watch and don’t come on here playing outrage fake hero
Playing fake hero??? You don’t think it’s weird and wrong for the director of a show that cast a 17-year-old to play the love interest of a 28-year-old man? You don’t find it weird and predatory that he would make remarks about the two actors developing real feelings, despite one being a child while the other was an adult?

The industry and those around her are trying to groom her right before our eyes, and y’all are playing into it and won’t defend her against being wrongfully targeted. This is a child who’s about to become a victim if her fans don’t separate her from these predatory people. I don’t care about this stupid show. I care more about Ai Mi. She can have a successful career as a lead without being cast opposite men who are almost twice her age as romantic interests.

Where are the c-netizens with some sense? Is there nobody in her fan club who’s able to call out these directors and her company? I desperately need someone to help her out of this situation. IT WILL NOT END WELL FOR HER. They’re grooming her and making vile, inappropriate comments about her, knowing she’s barely an adult. It’s really disgusting!

Aimi recorded this drama at SEVENTEEN YEARS OLD. She turned 18 just TWO DAYS AGO and the promotional team prepared an event full of fanservice based on the romantic scenes. To make matters worse, the director says this KNOWING that she was underage and the actor was of legal age when they filmed. Outrageous.

We’re watching this girl be targeted by disgusting older men for grooming and nobody is doing anything to stop it.

Oh, yes, this world where women can just reproduce between themselves, with no involvement from men whatsoever.…
Yes, we are. If you disagree, that’s your opinion. A woman can do everything a man can, but a man CANNOT do even 80% of what a woman, much less a mother, can. But it’s so funny how, out of everything I said, that’s the only thing you decided to nitpick about.

The fact that this rapist still has a job is absolutely beyond me. There are so many talented actors and actresses who have been shelved due to ACTUAL false accusations or because the industry simply deemed them useless since they didn't have powerful connections. Yet here's this disgusting harbinger of hell landing acting gigs left and right. I wish him and his team nothing but the worst.

South Korea is such a funny country. They'll give you 10 years in prison for smoking a little weed, but if you rape someone so violently that they need over three months to recover from the assault and are left with lasting psychological trauma, you can still walk away scot-free. Because why did she let him into her house? (even though she had invited another friend as well.) If she didn't want to have sex with him, why was he invited there? And even if he admitted that she told him NO, he's still considered innocent because, according to the court, simply saying NO wasn't enough to constitute rape. She should've physically fought off a man twice her size and successfully escape. She laid down and took it then blame him for something she wanted. Somehow, it's all her fault. That's was their argument.......

I just love this world where women are constantly oppressed, yet without us, humanity wouldn't even exist. YAAAY to bloodclaat!

Title Hidden Love
Of course "the story is being told from HER point of view" coz HL is a very loyal adaptation of the novel,…
Huh?????? Bruh, just stfu, because what are you even talking about? I have never come on here to make comments without watching a show first. I try my best to keep all of my opinions objective and free of bias. What freaking AvenueX?

Be as jarring and sarcastic as you want. I don't care to debate or argue with people who refuse to open their eyes to what is right in front of them. My point still stands, and those with eyes who are willing to see will see the truth. As soon as you disagree with me, you resort to jesting and alluding to the idea that I based my opinion on what some YouTuber said to make money.

If you like the show, that's fine. If, like me, you don't like the show, then you don't like it. I clearly stated the reasons behind my opinion. What's wrong with that? Was there a reason to add sarcasm simple because I share a different opinion about your beloved show?

Everything about this show has grooming undertones. The only reason I didn't outright word it that way is because the story is shown from her point of view, and it's presented as an unrequited crush from a young girl. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but the show still raised several questions because of all the seemingly innocent scenes between the underage female lead and the adult male lead and how they decided to edit them in a "romantic" way.

I specifically mentioned that I wouldn't insinuate anything because the story is being told from her perspective. We were basically inside her head as opposed to his, so it was different. The only thing we could judge him by was his body language and facial expressions, which, in my opinion, were off-putting in far too many scenes. Even then, there's only so much that can be said because we don't actually know what he was thinking since he had no internal dialogue.

They supposedly intended to market the first few episodes as a one-sided, unrequited crush from a young girl. However, the way those scenes were filmed and edited absolutely did NOT come across that way. You kept saying, "It's her story. It's her story." Yes, it is. That still doesn't mean they needed to intentionally or unintentionally romanticize grooming and pedophilic undertones just to show that she was in love. She's gonna do and think whatever she wants as a child however it's not the same for him as a grown man!

I assure you, it wouldn't have been too late to show how deeply in love she was with him by limiting her being underage to a maximum of two or three episodes and then continuing the story once she was of legal age. They should have NEVER marketed scenes where she was underage and interacting with the adult male lead in a way that came across as romantic. THAT IS WEIRD, and it comes off as pedophilic and groomerish.

You absolutely CAN tell an age-gap story where one person fell in love with the other while they were underage WITHOUT making it weird. They only needed to portray those scenes as normal interactions. Why did they have to slow them down and add suggestive music to almost every interaction between them? The male lead's facial expressions were also off. He should have come across as a hero rescuing someone in distress or, at most, like an older brother looking out for a younger sister. Instead, his expressions didn't convey that at all. That's exactly why I kept saying there are valid questions to be raised about whether he ever had even the slightest inappropriate thoughts about her. Those feelings may have seemed innocent from his perspective, but to anyone watching, they could easily come across as weird and inappropriate. That's the issue I have with how those scenes were directed and presented.

Yes, it might seem like I'm creating scenarios that don't exist to fit a narrative, but too many coincidences aren't coincidences. At some point, a pattern is a pattern, when there are repeated choices in the writing, directing, editing, and cinematography that all point in the same direction, it's reasonable to question the intent and how those scenes are being presented.

This show was seemingly marketed toward teenagers and young women in their early twenties, and I can assure you the message it gave off was not a positive one even if you so desperately wanted it to be. I'm also in my early twenties, and all this show gave me were grooming and pedophilic undertones. That's the impression I walked away with after watching it.

Again, if you enjoyed it, good for you. Honestly, I love that for you. However, just because you liked something doesn't mean you should be so blinded that you're no longer able to objectively point out how weird and highly inappropriate some of it was without being sarcastic about it.

I genuinely cannot understand how people don't see or at least question how quickly they started dating after she became of legal age. Isn't it weird to you that he suddenly found her attractive enough to date and be MADLY in love with when, just a year or two earlier, he was calling her "kid" and had known her through several stages of her childhood?

I'm not a scriptwriter, an author, or a director. I'm just a viewer. And if I believe they're engaging in harmful marketing WHETHER INTENTIONALLY OR UNINTENTIONALLY, TOWARD YOUNGER GIRLS AND WOMEN MY AGE, I WILL SPEAK OUT ABOUT IT. I don't care if no one else share my views!

I'm through with you and this conversation.

This is such an interesting take!! Do you think this affects your personal opinion on the drama's overall quality?
To be honest, I can’t really think of the good ones off the top of my head right now, so I’m going to mix the great ones I can remember with some okay ones too. Some that I quite enjoyed were The Sword and the Brocade, Empresses in the Palace, Story of Yanxi Palace, and Princess Weiyoung.

For Korean dramas, rather than being scheming, I think the female leads in these can be considered smart and strong. The Red Sleeve, Mr. Sunshine, Empress Ki, Under the Queen’s Umbrella, Jewel in the Palace, The Tale of Lady Ok, Knight Flower, Dong Yi, and Queen Seondeok.

There are, of course, other great ones that I left out because I can’t remember them right now, but these are all really good. Be warned, though—some of these are older dramas, and they’re much longer. They can’t be judged by today’s standards.

This is such an interesting take!! Do you think this affects your personal opinion on the drama's overall quality?
When did Minglan grow up loved, fed, and cared for? Outside of her grandmother, Minglan literally had no one. And her grandmother took her after the absolute worst thing that could happened to her had already happened. Based on your comment, you’ve clearly never watched The Story of Minglan. That girl literally watched the people in her household kill her mother, and her father did nothing. She almost froze to death because the maids gave her household wet coal.

These two girls are cut from the same cloth. Shaoshang grew up in the countryside with only her maid. Minglan was an outcast within her own family because her mother wasn’t favored. Both of these girls were ABUSED in almost the same way. Therefore, my comparison is very fitting.

Shaoshang is only smart in theory. At best, she’s tactical. She’s able to resolve immediate problems; however, she overlooks the long-term consequences and how to combat outcomes. It’s others like her family, Ling Buyi, or the Emperor and Empress who shelter her from the fallout. I guess they’re plot armors in this case…..

Minglan, on the other hand, is the full package when it comes to wit. She’s strategic. She rarely acts impulsively. She studies people, waits for the right opportunity, anticipates multiple outcomes, and removes problems at their root so they don’t return.

Both girls were around the same age, with Minglan having to bite her tongue in the face of injustice from a very young age. Minglan had a head start in a sense because she witnessed what happened to her mother firsthand, so she understood from an early age the consequences of acting recklessly.

I disagree, respectfully. You make very good points though. However, ShaoSheng grew up from day 1 knowing she…
You’ve completely missed the point. In fact, you’ve decided to ignore everything I said and why I said it because you’ve already decided what you think. You’re saying her actions are based on survival, when everything she’s done in regard to her revenge goes completely against that and literally only makes her a bigger target. She doesn’t commit these acts for survival, and even if she did, her execution is wrong. Her mother told her that on several occasions. After rewatching the show several times, I’ve noticed the nuance and discrepancies in her actions as well.

But I won’t argue with you. Think however you wish to think. I just know my assessment of her character came from an objective standpoint after watching this show several times and making subtle observations. I wasn’t looking for anybody to agree with me. I simply stated my opinion and made my points. People are stuck in their one-track way of thinking and will believe whatever they want at face value anyway.

Shaoshang expected to be coddled and pampered by her mother because she had a hard life growing up. I don’t know if this was fortunate or unfortunate, but upon their first meeting, her mother was literally able to see through Shaoshang’s schemes and knew she would get herself and the family in trouble sooner rather than later. Hence the course of action she took.

Yes, she wasn’t a soft person to begin with, but she knew how to show love to the young women in the family. We can praise Shaoshang for being scheming and exacting revenge, but all her mother saw was a troubled child who didn’t know when to act, a child who would get herself killed because she didn’t understand the right time or place. Even when she’s told why she shouldn’t do certain things she’s stuck in her ways. I mentioned this before, had she not have the backing that she has. She would’ve long been killed for being stupid.

I brought forth my claim and stated that I have verifiable evidence. You’re the one trying to debunk my claims, yet you can’t provide solid evidence to prove me wrong. Not only are you male-centered, but you’re also disgustingly ignorant.

I won’t talk to or interact with you any further. I hate male-centered women the most! You are truly repulsive. I pray to God that there are no young girls around you for you to influence with this misogynistic mindset.
