I think the difference is The Untamed has numerous novel fans in the first place but Trapped doesn't. Chinese fans knew what would happen next but people had no idea what the story would go next in Trapped. So they became so impatient with the mystery plot and were so mad at the lack of fluffs in the second half of Trapped.
