It's been No.1 on Taiwan's box office till the Marvel movie dropped this weekend. Marry My Dead Body just slighty lost to that Marvel movie based on the box office this Saturday. Due to the bad reviews of that one Marvel Movie, Marry My Dead Body will soon be No.1 again and now a strong contender to be the biggest grossing Taiwanese movie this year based on the great reviews from the younger generations.
International fans said HIStory4 is bad but it's the most popular one in China along with Crossing The Line. Trapped is not even that popular in the madarin markets. So no wonder they never try any script like Trapped anymore. As a Trapped fan, I just hope HIStory5 can give us some strong and different script. Many international fans like me don't like these dramas with old tropes. But considering how big mandarin markets are, I'm more pessimistic.
I'm glad they changed it up a bit. "Once he removed his glasses, I found him hot" is one of those Hollywood tropes…
Anyone from a school band with a good-looking face always grabs people's attention. It's not about the glasses but it's about the vibe of a person when in certain circumstances. And if they really wanna downplay that aspect, they should have not overemphasized the look of Ye Guang in the first place with a girl dancing some Korean stuff. That part is super cringey.
The novel is way better imo. When Ye Guang saw Qu Zhang without glasses singing on the stage, he was so starstruck and startled and that's the exact time when he officially fell in love. It's a big moment in the novel but the director made it so bland and awkawd and the OST didn't help either. Plus, Ye Guang is described as a confindent and kind of cocky but funny character in the novel but in the drama, he is more like a good student with no strong personality.
The second couple is not in the novel so I'm more interested in them since they kind of busted the main leads in my fantasy.
Lol Like the reviews from the international fans matter anyway. They still hire the same writer to work for HIStory5 since it's pretty popular in mandarin speaking countries. And the views don't lie. I guess that shows the difference between Chinese & western international fans. Some can accept these kinky & morally wrong stuff if it's fictional.
The problem is why this got a chance to make season 2? It seems that Thai entertainment industry is pretty big and got so much money to have a room for this kind of lame show…
Quite a disappointment. I love the drama so much so I went to watch it. The story & editing are lazy and tedious. It's like the drama & the movie are two different shows.
