I don’t like the second couple ever much, by episode 10, I am just fast forward all their scene. Heck, I think would have preferred the parent love story over the teachers love story. Or if you have to have a filler plot line, they could have focus on Littler pepper and Gao Tian, their interactions are very cute.

So I just finished it. It was a good show, but in my personal opinion not the greatest. And, I think for me it was writing, that brought it down.
The acting wasn’t bad, but the characteristics of the character were sometimes not consistent. I think the writer tries to have fun with Porsche’s characters in the beginning but all the fall while walking is just so….out of nowhere and cut the flow. Also the random fan service out of nowhere, they randomly made actors take off their clothes for no reason, just make me fast forward- e.g. Arm’s drunk striptease-

One of example of bad world -building. It was hard for me to believe all those “elite” bodyguards with tech from an M16 movie were not good at their job: getting shot down in the beginning and losing Kinn twice in the series. Also the ending….getting massacred. Also what guards let a revival gang go up an elevator? It brought me out of the story, when I keeping on questioning are these bodyguards or secret agents with all those tech, rules, and training. They were just not good because they “need” to bad for plot to move on. It was more believable when they introduced the minor family. They seem more like a mob/gang.

Putting aside the chemical of three CPs, the way it was written, I just can’t believe the two adult pairings would fall for each, especially the Vegas and Pete pairing. I partly can see may be why Vegas could fall for Pete, but Pete falling Vegas.…

But one of the things about the plot I like is the “main boss villain”, Kinn’s Father winning in the end. In his last scene, saying the winner gets to write the history, just show you he planned everything all along to get both families, his sister and all children under his power. I totally believed what the uncle said that the father was more like their father than he lets on. I can believe he is the one, who killed Porsche’s father to get his mother and protect the family. He may or not be have romantic love for the mother like his younger brother or just love her like a sister as he said. But in the end, he wins over his brother by keeping her alive to himself all those years and his sons will eventually marry her sons. In the ending shot with the mom, I get the implication that she knows what her oldest brother did. It would be a more interesting story if we had more of a backstory of the parent generation. It can better explain the last generation relationship dynamic, instead of just give us hints. It could tell us more about how men from the original bloodline seem to love and be obsessed with the mom and her sons. I mean Vegas was a little of obsessive with Porches in the beginning. Just seem the same as his uncles, cousins and father. I mean his father outright said that he and his brother should not have been his sons or good enought..hint..he want Porsche and his brother because they “should have being his son”. Also, Kinn’s father approval quickly because he get Porsche as his “son-in-law”, and gets reason to grab the younger brother too. He partly be over the moon, when he find about his youngest son dating the younger brother.

The ending scenes to show are they both died, he in battle and she of old age waiting for him….the two last scene are their ghosts. And the last scene are their ghosts finally meeting up……he a wondering ghost and she has be haunting their place. The light behind light up when his spirit finally return home to her.

My take on the ending…

OMG… I was talking to my labmates about this today at lunch, and I said it reminded me of a Hallmark movie… You can interchange it with any CEO and the FL could be a “party planner” or chef. They were forced to be together. Most of them are international and didn’t know what a “Hallmark movie” is, but they got that it was basically a romance through “rose-colored” glasses. Don’t get me wrong, I liked this drama, enjoyed it, and was hooked. But, it didn’t stop us from making fun of the trailer, and when the Korean ML showed up, my female labmate was surprised by how cute he is and will watch the drama. 😂

When I first saw it, I also found it weird, but I later found out that the two main actors are from the same boyband. I think the production company is trying to avoid any toxic fan reactions for or against the CP (for the actors) that may go out of control. Given the current state of fan wars and fans going overboard, I can understand why the decision was made, even though it is a little disappointing. Furthermore, later the film production company took over the band management from their old abusive management. The CEO was basically a female Harvey Weinstein, where she also psychological and physical abuse them (I went down a Kpop rabbit hole 🤯). They may do another series with more skinship, if the production company see it doesn’t effect their popularity 🤷🏻‍♀️ In other production “Jezz for Two, their bandmate get to kiss his co-star, but then again he is not part of their band.

As for the sexual assault plotline….from reading all those court case, Korean culture still see SA as not serious ( this my reading of stories I read…”rabbit hole” again) e.g. A Guy only getting 2 and half years probation in a 3 year sentenced because judge believe him about feelings sorry for SA his bandmate for 4years!

Almost all time I would agree, but there are some day I just feel like hearing drama in English. However, I know some people get tired of “reading” their drama and they feel they miss out in the acting. 😃

So I guess…Youku is going down the kdrama path with Netflix releasing an English dubbed version of this drama. It will be interesting to see how far an audience it will reach.

At the end of the second life, A-Luo erased his memory. He only know that he is a stone goblin/ demon/ spirit in the 3rd life. After the 3rd life, and when he get his memory back he still call them as life “character” he was most closest to in each life. He still call the ML, “sect leader” and the FL, “ benefactor” (“Miss” if you read the English subtitles- don’t know why they translate it that way) even when he know their true identities as immoral gods.

Yup. A-Luo killed the original Ying Shi when she was a kid and took over her body and persona (she had to remove her memory as A-Luo). As for making her evil, it kind of more a grayish characters traits. In these cultivation novel, even the hero killed innocent or “steppingstone” a lot. I see it as she was choosing to save herself. I am a little surprised the drama keep this in…but they do make her character suffer a lot.

Maybe they ran out of money in the later half, 😉but the CGI of the curve hallways and the roofs implied that the heavenly place used to be the Molou Clan’s home. I think once the Molou clan got dethrone, the Quili clan move in, it is center of power in the story setting.

I think the old Moluo palace (or the courtyard where the Empress live) is the Marriage Pavilion of present day. It’s has the same roof and hallway and the courtyard (but it is under water in the past) and the tree is the same.

I don’t think his brother want to kill him, but stop him from going the Palace to met CH. I think his goal was keep CK from bring a consort candidate. When his man said that his brother didn’t chase them because he was worry about that “woman”. He seem please.

It was A-Juo along. She took over the princess's body when the princess was a kid. She just blocked her memory and kept the “spoiler princess” as top the persona or personality. Like another heavenly girl, She wants the great hero as her lover. That personality was still the “main” personality up till her brother forced her to wake her memory.

Yes and no, he called them by their name (role) that is significant to him in each life. He call CK sect master (because CK was his leader the last life) and he stop calling XY, “young clan sister” but “benefactor”like in the first “second” life
