It is guideline, not a rule. Some production of show don’t necessarily follow the “guideline”, but generally they follow it. You can find these new about these “guideline” easily. It is not a rumor or fake new.

It depend on the Director and/or producer for episodes count. From it what I saw and hear, this production is not making this drama out of for the love of the story or want to making a good story. So I think it all about the money. Maybe they could only sell a 40 episodes to the ad people or they got what they want from the production and call it a day🤷🏻♀️. Hell, they never spend the money to change the English name for it make sense….there is no “rebirth”, unless you count whitewashing the love rival.
Why WeTV cut this scene when airing this drama?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rzXfpsgjvAUWhy not cut the scenes…
It is a recent guideline that drama shouldn’t be more then 40s episodes, but some shows have pass it to 48 the most-however not many. It seem the new tend is if is more 60s, it become two seasons to keep it under the 40s mark.
So when this show was release, I just jump on this page to see what people think about…I find it hilarious and greatly enjoy all the comments. Full disclosure, I decided to not watch this show but I keep coming back to read all the hilarious comments (sometime it make me laugh and being a little fun to a boring day) …it interesting to see all the excitement in the beginning to hate for “character” to wanting it to end. However, I guess sometimes in the night some died hard fan of JJY has come to defend her and make seem like people are “passing rumor” or criticizing her personally as person, not her acting. Please go back to your tweeter verse or weibo and keep the fan war there. Lets these people enjoy their hating watching or actually enjoyment watching continue in peace. That’s all I want said as lurker…keep up with the watching and comments…so I don’t have watch and thank you for service. 😄
For me, it is hard to compare two series. One is a Wuxia (WOH), and the other is a Xianxia (the untamed) genre.…
This is one of the reason why some Chinese netizen have issues with the author and MDZS because they think she plagiarized the story, but I take it more as inspiration. They are not the same story at all, just similarities in characters type and details like the five major clan, Liu Zhengfeng and Qu Yang and Wei Ying basically being Linghu Chong. And, The Smiling, Proud Wanderer is such a classic that most of aspects are tropes now. I remember loving Liu Zhengfeng and Qu Yang’s story. They were from opposing clan (one good and “devil” clan), they met and it’s “love” at first sight- well “ zhi ji” at first sight. Then spend 10 years meeting up to write the perfect song. One lets his whole family dies ( wife and kid) then betray the other and then end up both killed themselves at the same time. Xiao Zhan would have being the perfect Qu Yang, because he had already one 😂. Wei Ying’s relationship with his family, Lan Zhan and getting out of clan are tropes and at the same similar to Qu Yang. I can email you all the similarities.
On side note: the Yi city story was written as a separate short story that she decided for whatever reason to put it in MDZS instead of fully writing it as it own story.
Is this on the same level as The Untamed or *LE GASP* better? I’m intrigued, but I wanted some opinions first.…
For me, it is hard to compare two series. One is a Wuxia (WOH), and the other is a Xianxia (the untamed) genre. Plotwise, there are not similar at all too. The WOH scriptwriter put so many wuxia tropes and all those romantic tropes (there is a list, I make awhile back-can email them to you if want) that the Untamed hints at or subtly used. (There is a lot of meme about this ^_^ ) Actually, that was an issue that some of the Untamed fans (a small proportion) have with WOH, the flirting is too in your face for the first couple of episodes. The only series I can truly compare WOH to is the Legend of Fei. They are both wuxia stories and are from source materials that are written by the same author. So there are similarities in the plot and character types ( i was going to write a feed about this, but haven't got a chance yet.) The only thing WOH and The Untamed shared is that they are a BL sub-genre that was downgraded to a bromance that ends up hinting more toward love than the censorship would have liked. In my opinion, WOH is more upfront about the relationship between the two male leads. In the Untamed, it showed the two leads have a feeling for each other, and people keep on saying that they have a "deep friendship". However, in the WOH, the two male leads talk about living together and leaving everything behind. They even promised to do that toward the end, and mention it to all their friends. Then again, these pointed to the source material again. While the untamed book took aspect from The Smiling, Proud Wanderer and to some expend can read as fanfic for the tragic story of Liu Zhengfeng and Qu Yang, whose relationship is a base for Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji's relationship. Additionally, Wei Ying is basically Linghu Chong written in Xianxia story instead of Wuxia. Liu Zhengfeng and Qu Yang lived and died for each other, if these characters were to be written now, they would be a couple. On the other hand, WOH is more in line with all the Condor Heroes stories (including the Heaven sword and Dragon Saber). So WKX and ZZS shared a lot of aspects of the main BG couples in those three stories. (Again I can email you the trope list-they have spoilers).
So it is hard to compare the two as to which is better or not...but I guess I did compare the two in not comparing them. (hee...hee..) Both are very addictive shows for me and I love all four characters. I was going to say there is no favorite, but I lied there is a favorite, but it favorite character within the couple not couple vs couples ^_^
Sidenote: other than being a BL subgenre, the two couples consisted of one outgoing (flirty) character that chased the serious straight lace character. It's just that Wei Ying didn't outright flirt with Lan Zhan that WKX did with ZZS, which I think wouldn't have worked with the Lan Zhan characters.
I'm not sure I'd call this Fantasy. Wuxia is not exactly fantasy. Oh well.
It’s more like a combine “western” story with sword instead of gun and knight story, like King Arthur. Some time you can tell Arthur with or without magic. There is no real magic in Wuxia, just powerful fighter that run close to looking like magic. Xianxia is more the fantasy because it deal with immortal, magic and gods.
Does anyone know if the clans are all immortals? I've seen a couple of other xianxia where the characters are…
In this xianxia, they don’t move to under realm, but they don’t died easily. Example, their soul can stick around and get over other people’s body. They be revived if it this not to damage. They talk about how JC’s whip can push. the invading soul out of the host body. The general rule is you are wondering if it a xianxia or wuxia: first question are there immortal, monster ( in this case the turtle/snake and big wolf), ghost, spirits ( lan’s ancestors spirit guarding one piece). second question do they sword or other weapon that have their a mind of own - Wei’s sword, JC’s ring…they even have pocket space bags to carried their weapon. They cultivate to almost be immortality. If a show have some of these elements then it is a xianxia. Wuxia doesn’t have any real supernatural elements, but you can learn a powerful Kung fu that allow to be nearly immortal, with conditions.
Oh I find your comment regarding Aida interesting because it's the opposite for me. I read the manga few months…
I guess with me, like I said before the actors all seem old for the parts and I get pull out of story…i keeping thinking they should be in college or at work. I do agree they did cut cute some part of Aida….I wonder if they will keep Aida getting a girlfriend before the school trip? Thinking it now…I don’t thing so, because that’s the next episode. On a side notice, I think some of acting can seem to over acting, but that is what you expected from Japanese comedy.
I like this drama and I think the actors fit the part…maybe not actor who play Aida. The manga version seem cuter. But….I don’t why I feel these actors are too old looking for being in high school…more like college age.
I think in 2018, they ban supernatural elements because they didn’t want people to believe in Superstition idea. They bans fantasy for awhile because they thought people would believe those story and start search for their own immortal teacher in the mountain and would get lost or hurt. The CCP, the worst helicopter parent around.
😂 just saw the first ten minutes, how I understand why it was shelved for so long Ban issues: 1. reincarnation 2. Guy is now a girl…which explains the later hinted Girl love storyline
I guessed I will waited a longer for more episodes before investing time to this show….I don’t expect much from the scene, it seem really cheaply made and dated. But, I really like two of the female actor.
what's a reboot? basically season 1 with added scenes? will the cliffhanger in season 1 be solved in this season…
Yup…I think s3 will pick up right where s2 end. I think they partly shoot s2 and s3 together and just spit into s2 and s3. They moved to the mystery of their parents at end of s2, so I think they will talk about parent s3.

It mean they remade it with new actor and change the plot lines. It considered to “soft reboot” because the main male leader is still the same and they try to continue from the season 1 but they change the rest of the characters actors and how they portrait them. They also change a little of the plot details from season one and how the rest plot go. They of rewritten an old character from season 1 that died into a new character and change his plot line to be the second love rival and demoted the second male lead from season 1 to a sidekick character. They sort of resolve the cliffhanger from season 1, but there is a third season.
for those who read the novel, could anyone tell me the ending?
Zhao Xi became a puppet emperor under that Zhao Xiao , try to get help from Li Qian, but betray him under Zhao Xiao’s influence. Then they both left the country in chaos. Li Qian conspired with Zhao Xi’s wife and declared that the “real” Zhao Xi is dead and the one with Zhao Xiao is a fake. Li Qian became the Emperor and return to JBN to welcome their second child…The End…
