Midnight Motel is the type of series I wouldn't mind more episodes, but at the same time in 6 episodes they built quite the intricate plot so we are all left somehow satisfied. Sun in the end redeemed himself with Kat when he realized that he had misunderstood her, she hadn't recognize him all along and wasn't neglecting him or forgetting their promise. That hair band/bracelet they shared was proof of that, it returned to the original owner and they both got their peace of the past. All main characters shared grief and pain in their own ways, maybe that was what connected them.
The twisted humor and cinematography, as it's plot twists were all awesome and the coloring of the whole series made it all worthwhile. Really impressed with the cast, Off in a mix of serious and comical role that is Mote is always great to see, but Mond was definitely a scene stealer in his role as the complex Sun and broken young Arthit, Jan always delivers in her roles I love how versatile she can be, and Kat proved it. One of my favorite roles from Louis that's for sure, Doi was such a big help in everything here.. Neo had like two scenes and it was iconic like usual π€£
And let's not forget for all of those who watched Not Me, in here Sean actually defeats Tawi π For all that and more, Midnight Motel is definitely a must watch for anyone's drama list. ππ
I haven't read the webtoon yet, so I started this one expecting to see at least dinner in every episode π and instead I was served with the most beautiful and bittersweet love story.
The sour taste is mostly because I am still left unsure if Dennis is a reincarnation of the past killer, maybe he is and had nightmares and memories that triggered his anxiety and connected him to both Yu Dam and Dong Baek hence he mixed everything up and tried to "protect" one by attacking the other and this time in a reverse way which led to the same outcome... π€
Either way, was it erm... good?
The cinematography was great, and the actors delivered in their roles. Despite being another short BL series, it conveyed the storyline the best it could. Not sure how it is in the webtoon but am sure that the adaptation has changed a few things here and there, they always do... π€¨ But I can't deny that we are left wanting more, does Yu Dam regain his memories? Are they trapped in a cycle now? Is it Dong Baek turn to pay for the bill in their dinners? π€£ I have so many questions, and they only left me with a promised future meal, a mere crumble of what ifs...
Beautiful videoπ Also I love the drama on your PP.
Thank you! π me too π₯° Someday or One Day is one of my favorite dramas, I might make an edit of it soon too π I also love the drama on your PP, can't believe the 2nd season ended yesterday. I am missing the characters already..
This drama is definitely the highlight of my Fridays π Fourth and Gemini's chemistry is both intense and tender. I really like how their bond is developing. And Tinn's wild imagination seems more romantic than reality itself π€£ their innocence is so cute to behold by their interactions. I don't know I dare to say even though it's a school BL, in 3 episodes it hits differently. Maybe the way the story is told, or by the likeness of all the characters thus far. Maybe the cinematography and OST help with that too. It also has insights of characters' actions and feelings, and breaks in parody in the right times. In just 3 episodes it's hard not to fall for both the main leads and the whole cast.
The heck is wrong with the rating? O.o not even Cheer Up is this low on MDL xD and on these past few months it was the most vexing to see, it's proven by the comment section too. This one, however, with only 3 episodes it's below 7? Maybe it's an algorithm problem. π€ It has to be.
The colour grading and lighting gave me a headache most of the time but the acting is way better than expected.…
Finally someone addresses that issue. Maybe it has become a pattern with most GMMTV's productions, but yes sometimes it is vexing from one scene to another. And I get it, they are trying to express visual emotions through coloring values but it's so mismatched sometimes that it's not entirely aesthetically pleasing or able to convey the right feels it should be doing. From sick pale green shades to warm orange saturations. Reminds me of Talay the colorist, from Vice Versa at first giving colors to people accordingly to their personalities, and going off there with the weirdest hues π Then again I am no pro at this, but ever since I started editing a bit here and there, I find the importance of colour grading the scenes while trying to retain a certain consistency, depending on what I want to convey with it. π€
When it took 3 guys π€£π€£π€£ to try and manhandle 1 psycho but all it took was a powerful kick from Sun Ja to knock him down π GIRL POWER WE STAN! ππ MinMin better cherish his girl all right, he is so well protected now. They remain the 4ever cheerleading couple π€£ also wait a minute not 2... but it took 3 whole...?? Bless Yong Ill for waiting for Cho Hee. The guy has the patience of Buddha π or he is just really a puppy in disguise. Either way ALL I can say is: FINALLY this is OVER! Took a LONG bumpy ride and a couple of delays, but congrats to all the sadists (like me) out there who pull this one through until the very end. CHEER UP guys its OVER!!! π€£ Finally the name of this drama is put to good use.
(β―β΅β‘β²)β―οΈ΅β»ββ» We all have been flipping darn tables ever since the early stages of this drama. For endless reasons. Cheer Up has the ironic touch of a telenovela, because telenovelas are HELL π₯
That is definitely one of those scenes where my heart broke into pieces.... Black did everything to protect her, because he loved her, and in the end she ends up with Gram Cracker. Which btw I found to be a lousy friend, he cared more for her side than his best friend or to seek out the truth of why he did it. And also Eugene never got to know that whom she confronted for answers wasn't Black but White instead << In the mess of events, Black was the main victim by the lousy care and communication of all characters. He was dark, moody and impulsive but had morals and integrity and helped others in his own way, Well, all besides, Sean XD he was the only exception.
No one finding it cute how they put Gun and Film together, when they were Black and Eugene in Not Me? Still, at a loss over that ruined ship in those series... I wonder if it's any better here π€π₯²
I've finally come to the conclusion of why this mess of a drama is called Cheer Up (when it does none of that), because in all of my pending frustrations - over the ship, the plot, quite an annoying SML, crazy conspiracy theories, and almost half of the drama being the Rambo training of the squad and few shows, - it's mocking me to "cheer up"... Like that pat on the back or on the shoulder, filled with irony. π The screenwriter is clearly playing favorites while dragging the bermuda triangle... π
This has got to be one of my favorites of the many BLs I am highly anticipating for 2023 under GMMTV. So much I had to make an edit of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=25nTtVuZAFI ππ P' Aof as screenwriter and director? I already know it's a masterpiece in the making. Jimmy and Sea are really building their careers with versatile projects. I cannot wait to see them in this one π
