I am not feeling ZRN as YiFan at all. In the novel she is such a complex character, ZRN has like two expressions, girl cannot emote with her face at all!!!

I would also have preferred Victor Ma but I think BJT will grow on me maybe. I see Sang Yan inherently shares the spark of liveliness with his sister (which is a reflection of a loving family they grew up in compared to the people they fall in love with and was reflected very well in both sibling actors in Hidden Love) and BJT's eyes dont reflect that spark mixed with brooding dark emotions yet.

I am really not feeling both Go A Ra and Chang Ryul in their respective roles. Especially ML, I think he really doesn't come across as a playboy or mischievous. I think its his eyes, the seriousness peeps though even though he is trying his best. Someone with some mischief and brightness in their eyes would be perfect for this role. And Go A Ra isnt really doing justice to the hard headed, sulky, mischievous FL either.

I thought the novel is better than the drama, less red tape so the writer could write more freely. For such a short novel, I think the writer has done a decent job. The way things work with China, I feel people really cant tell real raw stories without looking over the shoulder which is a shame but you can get a glimpse of it here and there in novels.

TBH, I did watch the first ep and I like the ML (yes I'm shallow, what of it?) But it's the FL that caught my…
In the novel he is a soldier eventually. So China doesn't send active military personnel to aid foreign countries. The way the original novel author took creative liberties by having the male lead told by the army that he is on a secret mission and that if he wins, no one will sing his praises and if he dies, the Chinese military will not take accountability. This is after he becomes a soldier, I think he ends up being a Major.
The drama writers are having him be a volunteer throughout I guess and never turning into a soldier is my assumption because of censorship. Lets see how the drama unfolds.

Genuine question—was it ever explicitly mentioned that she can only report from outside her country and not…
Ah, I see. So we're just embracing ignorance now? Bold strategy. It’s cute how you’re doubling down instead of admitting you had no clue what you were talking about. ‘This is fiction!’—right, because why bother understanding context when you can just flail around and hope no one notices? Don’t worry, its not worth it to expect you to hit the books; that would require effort. But hey, keep barking—I’ll be right here, watching you trip over your own words.

Oh, you don’t even know what CCP means? That’s adorable. That alone tells me everything I need to know. Maybe hit the books before diving into discussions way out of your league. It’s cute how your feelings got hurt the moment an adult started discussing something beyond your depth

Did they get drunk by drinking alcohol in a military place? lol. The FL is a complete idiot. Also, wasn’t there…
I am the same regarding Benjamin! He is the only reason I am watching this drama, he plays all his roles so flawlessly. And compared to many other Chinese actors, he actually knows acting. His flirting, his anger, his anguish, all his emotions look real and not exaggerated. The actor did such a good job to his role in Love Song in Winter! He has a fan in me...

It was always a broader argument and that is why I said its hard to take this drama seriously because they took an easy way out by reporting on some fictional story outside of China. And lets see if they show the internal issues and what kind? Wars, protests within China, perhaps an epidemic coverage??? LOL... Thats the beauty of the party, they got shills everywhere, even on MDL...

In the novel that he is active military personnel, in reality China never send active combat millitary personnel support to any country in the middle east, bet you didnt know that because you love living in your little comfortable cocoon. The novel writer took an out by saying something along the lines of 'oh our country doesnt send soldiers so if you die it wont be known to the world.....'. Lets see what out the drama writers take under the very watchful eye of your CCParty! They already are kind of distancing him by saying he is of Chinese descent and that one of his parent is Chinese lol

Nice try for a reach but I guess you are too short on critical thinking!

Prime example of how the CCP behaves when they lose. I can see why you lack critical thinking...

Yeah I dont think they are going to air such a sad ending for a soldier. Either they are going to show that he was never part of the actual Chinese military or they are going to give it a happy/ambiguous ending. China doesnt send active combat military personnel for support to any country so it will be really strange if they show that and all the aftereffects like PTSD. Lets see...

But thanks for sharing the parts I didnt know about!

Yeah, so I read only the prologue written by their son where he mentions he commits suicide so I already knew that part. But thanks for elaborating on the plot. It sounds like he becomes an actual active military personnel later. I dont think they will let this air if it has the original ending.

Does he suffer from PTSD in the novel and commit suicide? What is the cause of the PTSD? Just his time in the war and military in general or a particular incidence?

Show me an article written by a mainland reporter criticizing theri government? The reason they show the conflict outside of China in the show is because they cant show any internal conflicts. That was my point. You want to harp on the technicality because you know what I said is true lol.
Its cute though when idiots like you try to look smart by arguing on semantics.

The operative word is freely. Fiction is appealing when it has grounds in reality. That is story writing 101.

The ML is a volunteer, he is not in the army. China does not provide active military personnel support to any country. So the author had to choose volunteer-ship and that helps them differentiate it from descendants of the sun.
