Jesus, I wish more dramas were so well-written and well-directed like this one... But I guess it's the bad shows that make us appreciate a really good drama. The scriptwriter and the director of 2521 are a match made in heaven.
A mature love story about two ordinary people. No rich, cold and handsome CEO, no poor yet hardworking and always bright female character who somehow ends up being tangled up with the heartless main male lead. Sure, imo the drama had some dull moments in the second half of the show where all the over the top angst made me roll my eyes so hard that I had to skip through some scenes so that I wouldn't fall asleep. Overall, a good mature drama with excellent acting that could've been wrapped up better, but was fine anyway.
I usually don't like sageuks, but holy shit. This one is so beautifully written and directed. I usually don't check out historical dramas, but I'm glad I gave this one a chance. The last time I enjoyed a sageuk this much was Mr Queen, and the last time I cried at a sageuk this much was Scarlet Heart Ryeo. I loved the chemistry, and Junho did an amazing job. Lee Se Young was amazing as well (fuck those who called her a "horse face"), but imo Junho won this show with his gazes. He didn't need to say out loud about Yi San's feelings for Deok Im - it was all shown in his eyes. Like, can I get a man who looks at me the way Yi San looks at Deok Im? Because holy shit, I want to be cherished and adored like that as well. All in all, a great drama that some might find slow-paced because there is no main villain to fight. It's a drama that shows Yi San and Deok Im's life story throughout the years and the obstacles they have to overcome.
AND THAT'S WHAT I CALL A GREAT IDOL-TURNED-ACTOR! My fucking God, Junho is phenomenal, and the way he looks at Deok Im is pure perfection. GIVE THIS MAN TONS OF GOOD MAIN ROLES PLS

Okay, I know nothing how Korean monarchy worked, but why can't Lee Hwi just kill her grandfather? What's stopping her? She's the fucking KING, right? I thought she could do whatever she wanted.
I mean, I was expecting a mature drama that explores a "forbidden" romance. But instead, I got yet another boring drama where chaebols are being mean to each other and the poor.

Junho, my guy, I'm so glad you started acting. This guy is KILLING IT
