I don’t think so. He was up to no good long before that. We don’t know (yet) was his motive was . Could be that he staged the life saving just to get close to ML. When Du sister scheme to marry ML backfired Du brother tried to get into the family himself by seducing the niece. The goal of both siblings became to destroy the family. Or maybe it was their plan all along. we have yet to receive the backstory (if we get it at all).
I think the Chess piece LanXiang developed at Du sister rooms is the main source of Poisoning.
I don’t think directly connected. FL discovered through that set that de Du sibling have a lot more to spend then people in their situation would normally have. Because it’s very expensive. Not something that brother would have been aible to afford.

I think the guards are down because he is visiting his sister who lives there en they are both treated like family. He can freely move around just like the Lin men. But I would think after the flower incident they would pay a closer attention to her at least.

Yes! I find bits all of those drama’s in this one (great taste btw!) and yet it has it’s own story. The character introduction is really good. The storytelling is addictive, you will want more. It’s fast paced (till now). MC are likable. Only the 2 eps a day are torture!
47? Episodes? I thought China restricted drama episodes to 40? Did policies change?
Right! I read in August that although 40 eps is still the benchmark drama’s (especially historical) with more eps up to 60 can pass. No more need for a season 2 and a a gap of 12 months 🎉
My only concern with DU treacherous traitors is that; when their evil deeds come out they will arrest ML’s career…
Do you mean ML investigating Du sister? He sort of did that. But there was nothing to prove because she claims it was a mistake made by the maid. And the maid als said she made a mistake. But he is suspicious of her from then on. He ask FL to keep an eye on her for a reason. I watched ep 15 (16 not yet) and from the flower accident till then the Du brother has no active storyline. The look ML gave him with the drinking game was a look of suspicion but we didn’t see any interaction between them afterwards.

She is concubine born and she herself thinks she is plain. She has no talent or beauty (her thoughts). So she worries a lot about her own marriage prospects.
Meanwhile I think she is perceptive. She was the first to see trough the Du sister. She also knew her niece ‘fell’ for another guy then her almost betrothed. She is annoyed by the fuss her niece makes because she wishes she was in her position.
I hope concubine born sister will marry the Naval guy. He could really boost her confidence and he will get an down to earth wife. I just hope, for him and his daughter, that he doesn’t get stuck with the niece.
Show had a lot of major flaws. Its best achievement is that it still made me wanting to watch next episode. Almost all the way till the end. For me ep 20 was the highlight of the show. Sadly the last eps felt a bit like a chore to complete.

The choppy editing, the half baked storylines, sometimes too much screentime away from MC (ep 10 for example) sometimes not showing the whole story (backstory FL mom, backstory Lu Ming for example), plot holes as bad as sinkholes, irritating side characters and the romance/relations seems off after years of dating.
But at the same time I’m still watching. I think mainly because of FL growth in work. And second half/end ep 20 was amazing. So I’m again watching tomorrow.

Welcome! I’m sure after tomorrow the timeline is even more confusing because the interaction between characters doesn’t make sense. But if you can put that aside (was difficult for me) it’s a great ep! Enjoy!
