Ok I’m trying to follow your puzzle here. I’m with you on a lot of points. Here’s what’s stands out for me.
Ep 19, 2FL says: … when I was fourteen, I was already ready to have a sister. You’re just late. It’s implied that 2FL knew of FL existence. But she never knew it was FL. And mom never told her. Not even after she knew they met. On multiple occasions. If having a daughter wasn’t a secret why maintain a secret who she is when she already known?
FL is treated if she is the problem instead of being acknowledged. 2 FL to FL: You only call her ‘mom’ when people are around. True, but same goes for mom and nobody is confronting her. Or at least it isn’t shown to us. FL didn’t call her mom in the earlier occasions she met her with 2FL and others. Mom treated her as a stranger. I find it really understandable that FL on the verge of being introduced to her own mom snaps and calls her mom. Sure out of spite but she had it coming.
Mom is always at fault for not maintaining contact. Even when a child picks a side with a divorce it’s the duty of the parents to maintain contact. There is absolutely no sign of that. Other than mom crashing FL’s every birthday. That’s not parenting, helping or loving. That’s guilt.
The whole show is lacking background in storytelling. To many plotlines and to little time to tell the story. They should have skipped 2FL en 2 ML altogether just like they practically skip FL bar owner friends story. To me mom is irredeemable but if they want audience to forgive her they should have told her story better.

First: 2FL blame your mother and not FL. Your mother kept her daughter a secret while she raised you for years. It wasn’t FL job to tell. Second: divorce never justifies abandonment. But the way and tone he says it implies it’s normal.

Timeline doesn’t really ad up.
A: Initial meeting FL purser 3 years later B: Second meeting FL just graduated as pilot 2 years later C: 5 year anniversary
Ming Lu died 2 years before 5 year anniversary. So that means he died right after MC meeting again (B). That means that all events happening from ep 2 till ep 13 are weeks?
Lu Ming and FL friend met 27 times. That means they spent at least (probably more) a month after they met. They met in ep 7 and he died in ep 13. This also doesn’t add up timeline wise.
I think I have to accept that it doesn’t make sense and turn off my brain.

I’m really baffled by this storyline.
So it’s ML en FL 5 year anniversary and 2 years after Ming Lu died. If the anniversary is about their first meeting Ming Lu died real close after meeting again because they met again 3 years later. If it’s anniversary of MC getting to together that means that Lu Ming dies after them being together for 3 years. I’m still confused. No real indication of time passing. Just some supermarket visits with different clothes which for me wasn’t apparent that years were going by. Show us! Even a text like x months/years later is better than this.
But the first ever meal together ML and FL with FL best friends after 2 or 5 years? Huh?
2FL film is off the table and now she going to manage a hotel? It’s a part of the family’s business but it seems to be abandoned? I really don’t get her storyline.
Then the Mayday situation. The weather is bad, they’re flying anyway and suddenly without any previous indication Captain Yue is unconscious. Huh again?!?
End on a positive note: the mayday situation in the plane, controlling and platform (skip the infuriating mom) had real good tension building. I was fully emerged at the edge of my seat. The reason I will be watching again tomorrow.

Thx for your reply! The whole part about 2Fl making a film is a storyline out of nowhere for me. I like some context while watching a show. But, I think because of strange editing or/and bad subtitles, I’m often lost in this show.
For now I also think it’s best to assume that it was wishful thinking of 2FL part. Losing interest in this couple.

My thoughts exactly. Mother is supposed to be the adult. She should have tried harder to clear the misunderstanding or at least maintain contact. She remarried, raised, cared for and loved another girl without a mother without even mentioning her biological daughter. If she was really sad about the whole situation why the silence about having another daughter and when the 2 daughters met she stayed silent.
Please, please, please show. The inevitable clearing of the misunderstanding (mom hugged by another man) doesn’t mean she needs to be forgiven. She was still a terrible mom!

I guess it’s supposed to be comical but I didn’t laugh either. This is a man who is leading a massive company. Yet he can’t pick up the phone and call his girlfriend and talk about it like an adult. His first mistake was when she saw the actress he just met on TV and he changed the subject. He could have just said: Do you like her? She is my high school classmate. I just met her today by chance. Want to meet her?
I’m afraid the misunderstanding between FL and mom is going the be cleared and all is forgiven. I would hate that. She doesn’t deserve to be forgiven. The fact that her stepdaughter who she raised while abandoning her real daughter doesn’t even know who she is. It wouldn’t surprise me if she doesn’t even know she has a daughter. And the way mom talks to FL makes my blood crawl. Like she is entitled because she gave birth. Lady you gave that up by leaving and not trying to mend the broken relationship. Some say FL is harsh but I think she is more mild and polite than mom deserves!
