In the manwha, it is eventually revealed that iljo is adopted. So it ends up not being that weird.
He keeps trying to convince himself out of his desires by saying we are cousins, etc... I can't point to a specific chapter. The reveal happens in the later part of ch 59, and is wrapped up in the last two chapters (71,72).
The negative comments seem to boil down to Do Ha's lack of personality, an uninspiring plot line, and/or not being happy with the end game.
Personally, I was satisfied with the end. It was cute fluff, but nothing revolutionary... However, I do want to praise the production quality and aesthetically pleasing scenes. It's rare to get beautiful shots like that in KBL, so I hope this raises the standards a bit.
If you want a good laugh, check out the cast's episode reactions on yt. Se Jin's reaction to the first kiss had me in tears 😂
Dang that went by so fast! Acting was great! But the only complaint I have is that around 15 chapters were put…
Yeah ep1 was a bit confusing because of how much they tried to fit in... Esp the weird jumps in time/flashbacks that didn't have a clear transition. Hopefully the rest of the series is edited more like ep2.
Jang Ki-Yong's styling in this drama bugs me. They (seemingly) filled in his hairline, but didn't bother touching his sparse eyebrows. Plus, his foundation seems more caked on then in previous dramas-- maybe it's also the lip color choice too? Idk, he is obviously still handsome, but I feel like they aren't maximizing his potential.
On paper, he is not my type at all (not a fan of sharp features)... And yet, I find myself so attracted to him when watching his dramas. His pouty little smile in My Roommate is a Gumiho makes me so giddy.
Also, don't be like me and look into Seo Ji-won after finishing this drama. Or do, if you want to feel an empty sense of sadness. It makes the cassette song choice even more poignant.
Speaking of, I need to know what happened to the OG Koo Yeon Jun in the new timeline.... Seems like no one cared…
It would have been nice if the person driving the other car was related to the story somehow, and by saving Min Ju, they also saved Rowoon and Yeon Jun. For example, maybe it was Oh Chan Hee's mom driving back from visiting him at the mental hospital, but because he didn't kill anyone in the new timeline, he was instead driving himself and his mom back from visiting Chan Yeong in the hospital (maybe he was admitted after killing more animals), but Chan Hee was able to swerve the car in time to avoid collision.
Lol, I don't blame the writers for not getting even more complex, but it would have been so satisfying to tie up this last loose thread.
Those gay babies smiling at each other and holding hands while I knew exactly what was going to happen next...…
Speaking of, I need to know what happened to the OG Koo Yeon Jun in the new timeline.... Seems like no one cared enough to help him. :( Was he stuck inside, watching everything Nam Si Heon experienced (like Min Ju was)? For ~16 years? Did Nam Si Heon just ignore him? Just feels like he really got shafted, while Min Ju at least had a happy ending.
this show was reall something else like I mean I watched through the eps and thought wth I don't get anything…
The amount of times I paused to try to figure out things in my head, only to give up, was more than any other show I watched. Very satisfied that they didn't go with a "everything is predestined/you can't change the past" ending.
Those gay babies smiling at each other and holding hands while I knew exactly what was going to happen next... That ain't right. Only took 7 mins to break my heart.
I would love for kdramas like this to be more normalized (aside from the nudity). Give me adult conversations/friendships, mature romance, intimate kisses... make me yearn and feel something. I was smiling so much while watching this.
I was going to watch once all of the episodes were released, but the comments said tongue kiss, so I couldn't wait. Turns out that tongue kiss could be better described as licking the inside of his mouth. Not what I was expecting at all 😂
For first time watchers: I am just commenting to say it is probably worth watching the movie version instead of the series!
I watched the series first, only to realize that later that the movie has more scenes that add context and coherency to the story (ex. The beginning shows the wedding ceremony). Personally, I didn't enjoy it enough to watch the movie in its entirety at that point, so I am not sure how much was cut out in the series... If I could go back in time though I would have watched the movie instead.
On another note, we really need a good quality historical KBL. This and 'Tinted with You' just aren't it...

Exactly. I can't remember if iljo knew all along, but jeonghan definitely believed they were cousins at the start (and that iljo was the illegitimate child of his uncle).
