I'm 11 episodes in and I just have to say almost everything about this show is great, but...the romance. The way they fall in love is mind-boggling. She's eating a chicken drumstick under a table and runs out at being caught, then proceeds to give him her eaten piece of meat...and somehow that equates to love???? This man has lived two lives but has fallen in love like a prepubescent. I don't understand, but I could overlook that if the FL wasn't so bland. Every other female on the show has a personality and then there's her as bland as the piece of chicken she consumes. As a romance lover to the core I really wish the romance part was removed or written better.
This drama had everything that I wanted. A strong female (she did not let people walk all over she stood up for herself), great husbands/marriages (all the husbands were just wonderful), a caring big sis , and a loving mother-in-law (she really loves Hua just as much as her son), and delicious food. I wished there were more than 36 episodes, that's how good it was. 10/10!
I loved this show a lot more than I thought I would. There isn't much romance between the leads but the leads had a lot of chemistry and the investor part of the show (which I presumed would be boring was actually quite interesting) really made it worthwhile. I also loved Seven Tan's character, in general, to start from a secretary to where she ends up at the end was great. I gave the show a 9/10. It would have been a ten by the last episode should have been more focused on the leads and not on you know who.
I don't think "Sassy" was the right word to define the princess. She's childish, insecure, and irrational most of the time. But I know what I'm getting with dramas with these kinds of titles so I didn't let her personality sway my opinion on what is a sub-par drama with great chemistry from the leads that make it actually palatable to watch. I'd give it a 7.5. (The .5 is because Zheng Ye Cheng is not only dreamy to look at, his acting was better than the drama, a real pity it's wasted on this.)
I gave this drama a ten but I felt as though, the last episode was a bit rushed. The drama was well-paced throughout until it got to the very last episode. There were a lot of characters so a lot of their fates either got breezed through in seconds or just weren't mentioned or shown. I think two to three episodes could have tied everything together better but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Mingl an and Gu are hands down one of the smartest couples I have ever watched in any drama.
Is it his visuals? I didn't find him attractive either but his acting is really good, so I overlook it.
😂 I watch so many dramas and they always refer to the man's looks with the term "visuals" so it's stuck with me. In the early twenty episodes, he gets a beard for a while and he actually looks somewhat decent.
The drama isn't anything revolutionary, it's a very simple plotline, but I have to give credit to Xu Kai's acting. He really makes this drama worth watching. The FL, on the other hand, lacks in comparison; she always has this downward frown on her face and it's perplexing in scenes where a range of emotion is meant to be displayed but she just gives that same look.
I do believe this rating is beyond high. The main couple wasn't a strong couple many times the ML had to come and protect her which was very annoying after a certain point. I actually found myself wishing the second couple was the main couple because I preferred their relationship. Overall this drama gets a 7.5 (the point five is because of Xu Kai's acting).
Yeah their plt is a bit lacking. I feel that It is also a bit slow.
It was really slow and at the end where it seemed as if they were married (because Shan Shan was wearing a wedding ring) I wish we would have experienced their journey to that point. I genuinely liked them together so I'm frustrated the writers robbed us.
I actually really enjoyed it. It's 9/10 for me. The reason it's not a 10 for me, is because the romance with the leads started to get a bit stale after a while. Don't get me wrong the scenes were cute and lovely, I just wish the writers would have focused more on Shan Shan and Taro since the leads romance was pretty much established at a certain point.
