I have ep 17 & 18 yet to watch. But I agree with you about FL and ML and that boring stuff. Where did his smartness gone and the ep 15 &16 did not contributed in the progression of the plot much, it's like they've struck in some cliche romance story.
Episode 15 & 16 What's wrong with the FL? She's acting opposite to her character. We have seen from the first episode that she is smart and rational person, but in these two episodes she really acted out of her character. Why is she being so unreasonable with Li Ni and throwing tantrums to this extent. What is she expecting, should he had saved that ungrateful jerk? Why? He sold them out to Grand Governor and caused the many soldiers death and made them loose Tong Pass. Such a betrayer deserves death, and as a Marshal Li Ni has to make the decision and get revenge for the sacrificed soldiers. She's sad and it's reasonable but Li Ni is apologizing continuously and it's not his fault that the Young Master Cui died. They had been ambushed because of their own problems.
Looking forward to the progress of the story and hoping the FL to be in her previous character.

No, she didn't transmigrate. It's like, when we have a dream while sleeping we see ourselves as the main character of our dream. So, she's still just writing the novel, but by changing the ending at the FL character's suicide, to continue the novel by make her travel back to past with memories of after she entered the palace and what had she done. Hope this helps.
Fun fact:- The child actor Chen Tian Yu (young Li Ni) played two characters who has 'Shiqi' as their another name. Li Ni is also addressed as Shiqi in this drama, and in Lost You Forever, Tushan Jing is also has the same name Shiqi.
