How many hundreds of dramas where the characters go back in time? Korean screenwriters are really running out…
We could say the same about America's cinema. For example, superhero movies. There have been 224 superhero genre movies released in the US since the year 2000. Similarly with zombie films, apocalypse films, etc.

I'd only touch season 1 again for Lee Rang scenes.
By everyone do you mean the main cast? Because that's certainly true. But what about the people who died during the three extra days he demanded from Taluipa? Three days that she initially refused to give him because Imoogi was out of control? Lemme quote some lines for you from episode 14:

Yeon: I can do it. I can catch Imoogi!
Taluipa: How many more lives do you think he'll take within those three days? Their lives are just as important as the life you wish to save.
Yeon: ....Please don't kill Ji Ah. I'll do anything you ask.
Taluipa: Just fight me. I'd rather you fight me like you used to.
Yeon: [kneels] Please.
Taluipa: I wouldn't have started this if I was going to change my mind.
Yeon: How can you do this to me?
Taluipa: I've already lost my husband and my child so I can do much worse. Even if that means I'll end up losing you.
Yeon: You'll regret this, Granny.

Excuse me, but Taluipa has an excellent point about the value of human lives, and is completely right about what Imoogi will do, and Yeon was completely willing to let innocent people die to save Ji Ah.

Disregarding the fact that Granny then changes her mind the next day (poor writing), I was furious with Yeon for making such a selfish request. Worst guardian of humanity ever. And to make matters worse, just as Granny said, Imoogi killed people EN MASSE the next day with a deadly virus.

I'd only touch season 1 again for Lee Rang scenes.
Oh IKR?!? If that had happened in reality, they would’ve been in shock and horror. That was the moment I lost all sympathy for the main couple, because Yeon insisted on saving Ji Ah’s life despite KNOWING Imoogi was going to kill more people if he did. Lee Rang was the only one of the main characters who had his priorities straight in the end.

I'd only touch season 1 again for Lee Rang scenes.
I was a big fan of Lee Rang and Yu Ri's older brother / younger sister dynamic, and his found family with her, Shin Ju, and Soo Oh (Geomdoonggae). I also liked Yeon's dynamic with Rang whenever his head wasn't up in the clouds about Ji Ah or he wasn't being a supercilious jerk.
I thought the pacing of the season 1 story was terrible, which is part of why the romance didn't land for me. Like off the top of my head, there's that scene where Imoogi compels Yu Ri to stab Lee Rang (nearly) to death, and interspersed with that incredibly sad and dramatic scene is Lee Yeon and Ji Ah having a date at a cafe without a care in the world. Or later when Rang is slowly dying of his injuries, and Yeon takes Ji Ah to the beach because she's depressed instead of focusing on his brother who is ACTUALLY DYING. It was incredibly jarring, and I felt more irritated than happy for the couple, because those moments just felt like they belonged in another drama, like a rom-com instead of a fantasy/horror story.

do i need to watch season 1 to understand this season?
There's a brief recap in episode 1 so no you don't necessarily have to watch season 1. Though I would say, you might as well watch season 1 just to get to know the history of the main characters a little more deeply. Or at least watch the parts of the drama with the brothers and the secondary couple, because those were the best parts IMO.

It really depends on which type of rules the writers are using for their time travel. Are they going to approach…
That's true, I suppose. Though I absolutely hated the Avengers: Endgame time travel rules (don't @ me, that movie was a hot mess), so I hope it's going to be more Back to the Future.

I am japanese, i just wonder if there are many anti Japan things so far or they try to keep it clean as a series…
It's set during the Japanese occupation of Korea, so the Japanese are not portrayed very positively. In the very first episode, a Korean independence fighter throws a bomb to kill a Japanese commandant, and Japanese soldiers fire on a crowd of unarmed protestors, and the secondary villain is (I think) some kind of demon or spirit from Japan, so you may or may not want to watch this one.

I don't believe that the future won't change as Taluipa said. But your theory is interesting. But why people will…
That's only my theory, as it's the only way I can think of that would prevent Lee Yeon's actions in the past from having any impact/ripple effect on future events. Otherwise, Rang would have memories of repairing his relationship with his brother over 80 years before the events of season 1, and wouldn't that change how he behaved in those years? Especially if he was no longer angry or resentful of Yeon. I dunno, maybe the writers will have Yeon do something stupid that will make Rang angry again. Who knows.

That Smart Phone must have endless battery backup 😂
Yeon has power over lightning with his tails right? So he's just using that to charge the battery. ;)
On Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 May 9, 2023
I have a theory. So Taliupa, the lady who guards the gate to the underworld, told Yeon that no matter what he does it won't have an effect on Rang's future because he is a visitor from the future and doesn't belong in the past. Now, I take that with a grain of salt because, if I remember right, she's told him that kind of thing before (it's impossible, there's nothing you can do, etc) in Season 1 and he proved her wrong.

So what I think is that it's likely once Yeon returns to the future, the people he interacted with in the past will forget he was ever there. So Rang will once again believe that his brother hates him/abandoned him/etc. However, and this is my desperate hope, I think that there is a possibility that the cellphone is the key. What if Yeon leaves it behind for Rang, so even if Rang forgets, he will have tangible evidence that Yeon was there? He already told Rang in episode 2 that the answers he's looking for about who Yeon is are in the phone, and there's a picture of them together in that phone now.

I really, really want this to happen and I'm so, so afraid the writers will disappoint me.

I have a question. Why Lee Rang was able to wake up like he had nothing when he was badly stabbed like an hour…
Yeah, it confused me too, but I'm just going to assume the gold light that entered Rang was the "life" that could heal him that Yeon made a deal for.

Do you need to watch the first season to understand this one?
Posting this again since it got buried:

Here's a season 1 summary as I remember it:
Hundreds of years ago in the Joseon dynasty, Lee Yeon was a nine-tailed gumiho that was once the guardian of a sacred mountain. He fell in love with a human noblewoman named Ji Ah, but an ancient evil spirit named Imoogi possessed her body and he was forced to kill her in order to stop Imoogi.

Lee Yeon had a half-brother named Lee Rang who was born of a human woman. Rang and Yeon shared a close relationship until Yeon left his sacred mountain to search for Ji Ah's reincarnation, and Rang felt hurt and abandoned. Rang and Yeon eventually came to blows when Rang slaughtered an entire village of humans after they burned and desecrated Yeon's mountain. Rang was happy to see his brother again, but Yeon's sworn duty as a guardian of humanity forced him to strike down Rang with a heavy blow of his sword, and thus their relationship was severed.

Yeon's human lover Ji Ah was not reincarnated until the present day, where she works as a news reporter who investigates mysterious deaths and disappearances. Yeon crosses paths with her as she visits the remote island where her parents disappeared when she was a child, and they begin to work together to unravel what happened to her parents. Ji Ah is fascinated by Yeon, and quickly figures out that he is not human. They very quickly develop a romantic relationship.

Meanwhile, Lee Rang survived the blow of Yeon's sword thanks to a man named Hae Ryong, who is a servant of Imoogi. Now bound by a life debt, Lee Rang works under the direction of Hae Ryong to resurrect Imoogi in the present day. Rang at first is willing to work with Hae Ryong because he wants to exact revenge on his brother, but as events unfold, Rang comes to realize that he still loves Yeon more than anything. Eventually he and Yeon begin to repair their relationship and begin working together to stop Imoogi.

Imoogi is resurrected in a new body and once again starts taking over Ji Ah's body and wreaking general havoc (a few thousand people dead), but his ultimate goal is to possess Yeon's body so that he will become more powerful. In order to save Ji Ah from being possessed and dying again, Yeon decides to allow Imoogi to come into his body, and then throw himself and Imoogi into the Underworld so the evil spirit can never be resurrected. Yeon dies, and Ji Ah and Rang are heartbroken.

Some time later, Ji Ah and Rang meet with a seer who can bring back Yeon, but he tells them the price will be that one of them will have to give up their life. Rang protests when Ji Ah volunteers, saying that Yeon wouldn't want her to throw her life away, and offers his life instead. In his last moments Rang leaves a recorded message to his brother saying goodbye and wishing to see him in the next life. Yeon is resurrected and has his happy ending with Ji Ah.

I left out a lot of details, including some of the main characters like Shin Joo and Yu Ri, two gumiho's who are the secondary couple of the story. But I figured focusing on the brothers' story was more important since that's what this season will (hopefully) be focused on.

why is this romance are they replacing the fl from s1
The romance isn't for Lee Yeon, but for Lee Rang. He's going to fall in love this season. :)

I personally loved S1 alot, i really dont get why ppl disliked S1 or dropped it by saying it was boring. Plus…
Everyone has different opinions and standards for what they find enjoyable. I personally didn't enjoy the romance in season 1, which had nothing to do with Jo Bo Ah's acting but more to do with how the story was written. Despite my frustrations with the drama, I persisted with watching the whole series because I loved the characters of Lee Rang, Shin Joo, and Yuri, and even Lee Yeon when he was being a good brother. I'm coming back because I love those characters.

Do you have a source for this?
I wasn't disputing the possibility that his death was not self-inflicted, I was wanting to know where the original poster was getting their information. They said, and I quote "after doing more investigation, they said there is no evidence that he took his own life". I was wanting to know how the OP got this info, as I wanted to read it. I personally like to verify something is true before believing it offhand. I blame the four years of college essays I've had to write.

Title Immortality
Why does this have to be gay film? 😭 I'm so sad cause would have loved to watch it, but I couldn't even watch...…
I mean, you seem to be ignoring the fact that China censors BL romance in dramas to the point of erasure. Even someone like yourself, who seems to have a problem with BL, would be able to watch this drama without it being "hard" for you.
