the more i watch the more i feel a slightly negative aura from the super zhao-biased master Qi. I hope he is a good person in the end. and a good leader to bridge the sects 🙏

Title Love between Lines Spoiler
The intamacy shift after episode 26 is just mind blowing. This actress HONESTLY has the best natural way to bring out chemistry with her male leads. Like the subtle one when it was just crush, then the longing one when they were in a "situationship" XD and then the sweet one before the "hiccup". But after 26th episode, they are like 2 body one soul kinda intimate chemistry. urgh! imma miss this!

I loved the way the most cliche scenarios were played out to be kinda different in this drama. One thing about the attempted break up. I admired the way of him actually holding on to that line he spoke "Don't end it like this" when he pretty much have in to her with that kiss. He persisted and actually showed "you are more important right now" rather than his entire image pretty much being destroyed. He didnt leave any chance to hold onto her. Unlike in the cliche of "accepting" the dramatic break up, he persisted. then comes the next one of hero saving his lady and that also wasnt actually a typical one. Her role in being saved and saving gave the perfect balance in the characters. No one was the weak one here who needed one sided saving AT ALL. funnily that cliche make me like the character arc of the 2nd ML. not like I had one ounce of feeling that his love deserved a chance, but even with a momentary lapse of action due to jealousy, episode 26's last few minutes showed how he assorted everything within himself. The acting is just too well derserving when you can see his emotions coming all together and settled down. When he opned the door and saw Zhiyu with a file, if it was past him we all know his expression would be like a arrogant ass who wanna pisss ZY off. but he was almost calm as the sky and letting everything come out. I wouldnt have been surprised if there would a scene where he worked his way to help ZY and expose his father. But, didnt happen.

ALSO, special mention to this man who picks up the ladies like they weigh NOTHING. I am waiting for somebody to make a reel of him picking up his ladies :3

That hug after his momentary fear of losing her, was one of the most natural AND raw expression in drama world. It depicted the genuine feelings so well. Like he didnt even wanna leave one breath gap at that moment and if it was possible he could have just merge with her entirely. And the way she hugged him back was soooo beautiful, like without words uttered by him or any need to to ask why he was being like that, she juat assured him with her presence and as much closeness as he needed. I just love their chemistry!

So, you are telling me within the next 9 episode we are getting 24 kisses AND a break up + misunderstanding + patch up + down fall of this that and who ever + ..... imma be riding a roller-coaster now? The epiaode trailers give me high blood sugar and high blood pressure at the same time!

Point to be noted: how did this man even managed to "hide" and "endure" for 20+ epiaodes? He ( and she as well) is thirsty af 🤣🤣

Title The First Frost Spoiler
While I love the novel very much, Its sad its changed. Which show all the good qualities of SY and a very perfect…
I aint blaming YiFan, I thought i made the point clear that the screen writers are just pulling a typical drama move.

The drama made it realistic, yes in a sense. But in my eyes they just made YiFan the only one with flaws while Sang yan is now the perfect male lead. He will wait no matter how many times, how long and how deep she has hurt him. YiFan is traumatised, yes. She chose to escape, okay fine. Sounds realistic. What about Sang Yan's trauma? Every now and then, it was emphasised how hard it had been for him and how broken he was as well with what she had done to him. She is not to blame at all. But adult YiFan took every pain SangYan felt into consideration. Even in the drama, YiFan is like that. In the novel Sang Yan was also had significant flaws. He might have been raised in a warm and stable family but not to forget, Sang fam was a Daughter fool family. Sang yan had his fair share of difficulties to express emotions. Sang Yan also grew in the relation with YiFan. Now in the drama Sang yan is a 10.
And i didnt get the nuance of love beats it all in the novel, sorry. It was YiFan who beats it. And in the next episodes she will actually. Its just typical drama move how she just abandoned her love, friend, job and stuggled the same way she did in university and within months she got back on her feet again. Here it seems love beats it all. Love made her leave to "protect", made her struggle like did not have anyone to rely on again, made her relive that life of loneliness to realise this time she is actually not lonely so she began to shine and pursue her long lost dream of dancing and thus letting Sang Yan walk to her. Its always her shutting the door and Sang yan being the puppy waiting for the door to open.

Just think of another drama and this move being done by the 2nd fl who abandons the ml to "protect" and then coming back when the male lead just began to heal and fall for someone else. Same stunt, different pov, but we would have cursed the 2nd fl. This is typical drama move. That was my point. YiFan being the bold and strong adult who chose to walk straight to that human piece of trash and declaring war AND more importantly telling off her nonsense of a mother in episode 23 was not a woman who was determined to run away, that was a woman who had reached the breaking point of tolerance and finally took the sword to "protect".

Who fooled you guys and made you believe that WYF was healed? Her PTSD is still there, she just fell in love and…
Of course she did not heal. Not even once it was hinted in the drama that she "healed". Healing needs time and attempt to be healed. In the very few episodes after getting together, but from the moment of they became a couple, Yi Fan attempted to heal. No wound heals on its own and specially trauma wounds. She took baby steps to talk about her inner turmoils slowly and without being pushed into talking. She could see how patiently the man she loves waited for her and that made her consciously feel loved and waited for, needed for. She felt attachments that she NEVER EVER felt throughout her life after her dad died. And just watching after she said she will not stand back to fight against that rap*st and they going MIA? That surely defied what the Yifan of 23 episodes. "Escaping" is the most common expression of trauma, but 23 episodes showed evidently that YiFan attempted to heal herself, heal SangYan, protect him and their relationship which she feels guilty of breaking in the past with the most vague dialogues and hurting him for a 2nd time is NEVER YIFan's character. 23 episodes of character build up in a drama cannot be ruined with 2 episode with trauma reaction that she decided to take for in episode 23 ?

The charm of Zhu Yi's stories are that there is no eminent break up. The chase ends with something that develops beautifully. Be it affection, intimacy or communication, all the stories written by this author had a development that was beautifully written in a way you can rewind and see how the characters grew up to be the present version of themselves, how their partner has their fair share in those developments and how they DID NOT GIVE UP on their partner no matter what happened cause they were the "home" they found peace in. Same goes for First Frost. The novel was beautifully written and YiFan, after getting together with Sang yan, kind of began to take in the confidence, protectiveness Sang yan emits. She stood up and never ever back down against anything that could harm him or their relationship. She was not aggressive, cause thats Sang Yan's role to play, but her dealing with things calmly made her even more scary. She did take her time to open up, the couple had fights and arguments due to this, she was harrased mutiple times to the point of wraping herself again in the darkness of self isolation that sangyan worked so hard to get her out of, but she NEVER EVER EVEN FOR ONCE thought of leaving the only safe place she had. You see, people with trauma almsot always seek for such a place - a place which feels warm, secure, safe. You can tell how she longed for a safe and secure place when she sleep walks. She longed for warmth which she found with Sang yan. Even her subconscious mind knew it. So, screen writer pulling this stunt not just ruined the character or the beautiful developments we saw in the past few episodes but also the Zhu Yi charm and trauma reaction. And its not like there weren't enough story to drag the episode. These 2 episodes could be dragged by the most natural couple's fight and Sang Yan finally begging her to let him in her cocoon so that he can heal her, just like he said "if you stretch your hand, how will I hold it" in a sense that he wanted to pull her out, pull her to him.

The scene after him going to Yihe and finding out about Sang Zhi and JiaXu was supposed to be the breakthrough of their relationship. Both having a most realistic argument, spending time apart, Sang Yan getting to know his best friend and sister also hid things from him, him getting all angry and kind of pouring all the anger on poor boi JiaXu xD then slowly calming down and getting anxious about his waifu cause she didnt text him for half a day :3 and there YiFan, after living with Sang yan so long and getting to see him angry for her own sake, she came to her own rational realisation (which is one her character traits) and went straight to him to patch up an open up. This is YiFan. She is analyses and come to a realistic conclusion using her brain not emotion cause her character always lacked emotional thinking and takes actions without bowing down.

no wonder this part it's kinda weird, i also didn't remember much about the novel. fl n her ex just breakup at…
yea, but they made this guy way too much different. I mean, I did not take pity on him in the novel as well but since there are 1000s of dramas where male leads behave like her ex (in the novel) and try to get back together and at those times viewers do take the understanding side, so kinda had this thought that this could have worked if the ex was the male lead :3 but in the drama, they just made him look like the stinkiest piece of trash. this feels weird to me kind of. I liked how moderately confident Xi Fan was in the novel. She had her emotional battle inside but never was this docile like she is in the drama with her ex or ANYONE. That 3 years break up was for her to mature up.

so................ they have changed almost all of it. Just kept the base of Hotel management worker X TCM doctor and the rest is newly written, pace is difference and even some storyline is jumping in and out. One episode in and he is already smitten by her like Lin Yi Yang from Amidst a Snowstorm of Love 😂 one look at her and "oh no, I am falling in loooooo~ve" is playing in the background lol! I need to get used to this new story and more or less erase the actual novel for now so that I do not compare them constantly.

PS: I didn't like that they are making Yang Heng an ongoing thing cause him being the 3 year old past made MORE sense in terms of her internal turmoil. Now it's gonna be like jumping from one ship to another just like that :|

is it just me or they tried to make the ending look like that particular scene from descendants of the sun? if it is what I think, then it was a terribly done scene but still I can accept that ending. I mean, I cannot fathom to think of it in any other "good" way. Who writes such a traumatic and confusing ending? it was like an open-closed yet slightly light peacking open yet tightly scrwed up ending. I had to rewind the last 15 mins 5 times to understand which part was imagination and which was real.

The drama gave me a whole new feeling about this story. Indeed many things were different from the novel which was good at times and quite iffy at times, but the way the drama potrayed JiaXu's heart felt words to his father aa well as his father's response to those words at the hospital and also that hug afterwards just made an empact that I wished the the novel had too. It gave JiaXu's character this sentimental vibe which was quite cold and rational in novel when it came to his father. I just loved the way one whole episode was given to him to melt down his well made ironwall of "I am okay" and let him cry at every moment of well deserved care he recieves from Sang Zhi. Once again, thanks for making my June-July so fluffy. Its been a long time I waited for an episode of a drama to come every day and rushed to watch it on time. Thanks to Hidden Love and When I Fly Towards You, I am going to be suffering from this - what can I watch next that will get me out of this drama slump- syndrom XD
