There are no new eps this week (or ever), I'm kind of lost...

I fell in love with ONHCT at the first scene, here, it took me 5 eps (though I liked the first eps too, well enough to go on.) The vibe changes from the 6th ep onwards and makes this one of the best Thai drama I've ever watched.

Hang on through the first few simple cases, when it gets to the personal hurt/healing parts everything will become much, much better overall.

SNTL also ends in a BE?! I wanted to see some Zeng ShungXi drama because he was such a ray of sunshine in MLC, you're telling me that story also ends in tears?! *sigh* dammit.

Also, reputations are easily changed in stories.

Just take YingLong - he sacrificed his immortal life to save both humans and demons and everybody remembered him as a great and dangerous demon that his best friend had to kill - and BingYi as a hero of mankind, when he actually didn't even do it and then lived the rest of his life in seclusion because of it.

Retelling a story always changes it.

There were bad deeds Zhu Yan actually did... but there's always more than meets the eyes.

Wen ZongYu left the fruits there after he had already poisoned them with demon blood or whatever, knowing it was one way to treat the plague he had already spread, and that Bai Jiu was smart enough to find the treatment. So he just let Bai Jiu give everybody the "cure" while at the same time demonising every person who took it, which is obviously cruel... but we're talking Wen ZongYu here.

She lived for 300 years in that pocket of time, growing the Pagoda Ghost Tree to fix the Baize Token, she'll be there when he comes back.

The extra ep leaves place for a possible return, so maybe we'd get a second season :D (I know it's far-fetched and won't happen, but it's still a hopeful ending.)

...The very first thing this drama teaches you about demons is that they lie.

1. Wen ZongYu is a doctor so he knows how to experiment. (Bai Jiu does too, though I doubt he was involved). All the demons he replicated were at one time linked to him through Li Lun. He could have taken their blood and/or replicated their powers and appeareance - he also had Ao Yin in his dungeons for a long time. AND he had the Phoenix Pearl that also helped him regenerate from his own ashes, he could've used that to replicate/regenerate all the demonic powers he stole.

2. He would have LIVED had he cultivated for 100 years and then be able to take human form again with no repercussions. Like this, he used up all his remaining life force / demon energy to save ZY and ZYC and there's nothing more left of him to come back ever again.

3. I don't think his soul WAS in the blood for all that time. She went to his "home" and waited for him, at the place where he made the oath to protect the Wilderness. It makes sense the blood would react to that place. IMHO it takes off and goes to ZYC because the soul came back and there's something around or about ZYC that would gather what's left of it (if there's more) allowing ZY to come back.

That's a particularly nice editorial, thank you for it! Haven't even watched all the dramas mentioned (and you kind of messed up the genres here and there, but who cares, LOL).

Comedy: Oh No! Here Comes Trouble! (I'd say it fits the Fantasy and Friendship themes too, but then all good dramas do :D)

Friendship: I Don't Want To Be Brothers With You (no it's not BL). Recc'ed for found family trope done well.

Historical: nothing defeats Nirvana in Fire on this category.

Wuxia/Xianxia/Xuanhuan: (other than TU), well, you can't go wrong with Till The End of the Moon and Fangs of Fortune.

Action: A Shop for Killers. Go watch it!!! And for movies, Officer Black Belt.

Romance: I've got nothing (not my usual type of drama). Wonderland of Love, maybe?

Thriller: definitely agree on Flower of Evil. Also, Nobody Knows is pretty good.

Sports: Pride (Japan). You need some KimuTaku in your life.

Fantasy: Love for Love's Sake. Actually fantasy :D

Sci-Fi: I am watching Three-Body right now and it's a pleasure if you're into physics. Or science in general.

Crime: I'm going to mix it up with some mystery here (because mystery doesn't always go with thriller) and rec' Black Out. That's one amazing mystery drama.

Drama: The Devil Judge (no, not The Judge from Hell). Because Ji Sung and Jinyoung and an amazing (and melo) dystopia.

Life: You're going to be surprised (not, LOL) - but it's another Meguro Ren drama I'd rec - Umi no Hajimari just ended and you're going to love it if you give it a chance.

Youth: this is another genre I don't usually watch... Maybe The Blood of Youth? All of it is about growing up (in a wuxia 'verse, but still). Bonus, you get to watch wuxia at the same time :D

Horror: I don't watch horror by choice, usually. But this is where Sweet Home belongs (the first season anyway - one of the best and most thrilling horror stories I've seen). BUT a good horror comedy (yes, LOL) is Peaceful Property. You might not get scared by all the ghosts and whatnot going on (there are horror parts don't worry) but watch it for the great acting and good plot!

That was kind of tongue-in-cheek taken directly from TU - that's how Xue Yang goes out, LOL.

I'm going to use theoretical physics and watch Three-Body. Just because. *sad mood*

First Ying Lei... NGL his death hit me the worst.

Then Li Lun... He gets a redemption arc and goes out all in fanfare - YES YOU BEAUTIFUL MADMAN YOU!! *hugging Li Lun*

(Also why did we have to see Fei die again, poor demon? And Qing Geng too... that hurt.)

Then Pei SiHeng... Demons so handsome should be made illegal.

Then Bai Jiu... I can almost forgive him all his betrayals and misdeeds. But dammit, he's the one who starts breaking ZYC's heart while saving him.

Then obviously they can't let it just go and give them a HEA, nooo, they have to have Zhu Yan go also. I loved that ZYC gave in in time and never let him choose like YingLong had to - he was the better man than BingYi. Maybe it was the shock of seeing everybody dying around him. But at least he spared Zhu Yan of that pain.

This drama gave me too much and too many people to care about and now I'll be a wreck for a while.

...Why don't we have a special episode where that cute monkey he carved for Wen Xiao turns into him after a few hundred years of cultivation? I'll say it - some 300 years on a rock top maybe?

... I loved that touch where ZY realised in time his one-word spell work wrong. Also where the dream wasn't a dream but poison. And where they have a freaking fight between a DRAGON and a PHOENIX how much more symbolism does one even need?

But dammit this drama really had it out for Zhou YiChen from the very beginning - he loses his family, gets a new, great found family and then loses that one too, nay, he KILLS his zhiji because of fate!! He could just hunt them all down and deal with them one by one and I'd applaud, Just sayin'.

Loved the acting, the cinematography and music are PERFECT, just going to pretend there's going to be that extra ep where everybody's happy living ever after.

ETA The ending to the extra is hopeful - soooo we're going to get our little white monkey, errr, ape back, aren't we? :D

The last 5 eps are a total massacre.

The message of the drama comes from the universe directly to Zhou YiChen: F*ck you in particular, ZYC.

And when did that happen, by the way? She comforted him when he was left alone in the world, they grew up together, and never ever got together. So why this impression it's love?

I rather see him fighting everyone who tries to let Zhu Yan take the poison himself, LOL. I hope ZYC isn't going to do the heroic sacrifice, but since other people - including Li Lun - now know how to do it, he might not even have a chance. I think Li Lun will have to choose between his two obsessions, LOL, who to save and who to let die - ZY or ZYC?... Hard choice.

Li Lun, since he's the only one remaining. And Zhen Mei (the other camp's commander), maybe, if he feels like having something to prove.
