Buddy, chill. I am not going to keep this thread going so you can feel better about your likes and dislikes. I have said what I said because you are taking the ball and running away with it, kind of obsessive-like. This is not a battle field and nobody's owing you - or the other fans - anything.

People - myself included - just didn't like this S2 and it did not live up to the hype of the S1 for us/me. That is all. I don't need to debate endlessly and definitely not resorting to personal insults towards those who disagree with me (I read most of the ultra fans' comments, LOL, you'd think it's the WC and we are playing teams). You do yourself.

Nah, people who came here hyped after S1 (like myself) wanted a good STORY. I don't mind main characters dying if it makes sense in the story. I don't like stupid needless accidental-almost deaths. Yeah it's a drama and stupid deaths are a part of life - that's why I'm watching fiction. In fiction, things are kind of calculated for most impact. If I watch some character die - particularly if it's a main chara - I expect it would mean something.

But no.

Oh well, I guess all the people who super liked this very mid second season will keep telling everybody else how this S2 was way better than S1 because they liked it, and how wrong those who are disappointed are for not liking it as much. Though a polished turd is still a turd.

This could have gone ANYWHERE. Like, show us an actual JinMan-Bale fight in that same night of the first season, while filling out the backstories of more characters. Or show us normal-life JiAn with her uncle still covering for her in the shadows. Or show us them being together and fighting it out as a unit.

Or ANYTHING else.

Instead we got a super-duper org of mercs who have nothing better to do than hunt down JinMan. Oh and killing their own people because of reasons. And NOBODY bated an eye. Especially mercs who, after all, only have their lives. They wouldn't care their buddies were dropping like flies for unseen reasons, right? /s

Also, Q. What the hell was that?! She was all murder when she thought JinMan killed J, but now she knows, she can't be bothered to go after Kusanagi? Because why, drama?

Nobody actually had a complete storyline. Not JinMan, not JiAn, not any of them. Just pieces thrown in so we each could decide what to pick up and what to leave off.

Sending off Pasin like that?! At the same time, saving - yet again - MinHye because WHY drama? And also the ex-cop and Brother, WHY the heck, WHY drama? So cheap.

And then comes JiAn with the headshot, since now the absolutely single guilty party is just Kusanagi and not the whole Babylon...

Can we seriously get real, drama?

Oh well, after this at least there won't be another season.

Oh well, it ended.

First and second half are disjointed. JiAn got the killer ozempic shot or something and became insta-Rambo. Good charas were killed off because of reasons and new charas are introduced basically in the last 10 minutes.

Overall, underwhelming.

We're at the halfway point and the romance hasn't progressed much, we're spending a lot of time on by-side plots of support charas, and there seems to be no progression on how the MC will ever come back home (he's not even trying any more, like he's on a vacation and just chilling' with the folks).

I'll be honest, after the durian ep, I've been watching in 2X and it's passable (because of Dech) but very very mid. I'm not interested in where it's going for the main CP but I've become a bit interested in the second brother - the poet's - storyline (there's no time to develop anything but I have hope) and maybe the King's (I mean who were those two guys? Why was the King in tears over one of them's refusal? What did he refuse? That's at least enticing).

So yeah. It passes the time when I don't really feel like watching an interesting drama. Also, I noticed Luke's eyes, do I need to keep noticing them in detail each and every time he's on the screen?... There's so much time each scene spent on seeing his eyes in sparkly light, even in 2X :(

From all apology letters from SK artists I've read, this one seems actually sincere. She might have only known about her family history things they used to be proud about and none of the vile secrects, so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say she's in the clear (hopefully she doesn't go brag about him again).

For what it's worth, given there are some individuals here that are dead set into claiming people are not entitled to be angered by what they perceived as shameless bragging about traitors to the country, IMHO one should definitely not brag about unsavoury ancestors whose actions are still meaningful to actual living persons. What people did or did not do in the past does affect the present. Being ignorant of the past, even if innocently so, doesn't mean the hurt and pain of others just go away like that.

At least she's now aware of who her family ancestor was and won't brag about him any more. She's more genuine than all the people trolling this comment section and "defending her honour" that she never asked to be defended, 'cause she realised she was ignorant and is set to learn more even now. She doesn't need any stranger's help, she's a grown woman with a mind of her own, she can and does choose to be better.

What the trolls are actually choosing to do now is also their own business.

You keep arguing for the sake of being contrary. The facts are clear and people have explained them to you repeatedly. You are choosing to continue to be blind to them.

1. Her great-grandfather was a traitor to the country.
2. She did brag about him repeatedly - you're saying he's a beloved family member, I bet she never met him and doesn't ~love~ him unless as a respected doctor her family told her about. No actual close relationship other than that.
3. She is now aware of his actions and is properly apologising for BRAGGING about him without being aware of all the facts. This is commendable and in truth, it does change my mind about this incident, at least.
4. She is not asked to condemn her great-grandfather in public or do any other action to ~cleanse~ his memory. She is not guilty of what he did. She was only "guilty" though that's too harsh a term, of ignorantly praising a traitor she didn't know was a traitor (she says, and I believe her).

It's not looking good. Definitely not S1 level. But if you're going to watch it just to see the faves of S1 again, it's going to be enough.

S1 was novel and tightly-knit in terms of plot and execution. S2 is generic (and not really that well executed, just flashier and with a lot of disjointed plot points).

I am not an expert in thrillers or action movies/dramas but I've seen enough that I can discern where there's genuine care that went into it and where it's mostly a cash-grab (with some revisited high notes from the previous part(s).)

We'll see tomorrow if there's anything saving this S2, but so far it isn't looking good.

If I had an ancestor that was the Korean equivalent of - say - Goebbels (not going as far as liking him to Mengele), I definitely wouldn't even admit knowing they ever existed. She's quite empty headed to say it, knowing the baggage it comes with.

The fact it was 110 years ago (and maybe longer) doesn't mean anything - they've been an actual democracy only from the 2000s on, and just the last president tried to go back to some kind of authoritarian rule. Not to mention the whole debacle of the insensitive Tank tumbler just THIS YEAR, when the far-right Samsung-family-related Starbucks SK owner mocked one of the strongest democratic moves in SK (that failed, at the time, though it did push things on towards achieving real democracy eventually). Oligarchy, authoritarian state, military state is just around the corner if they allow people to slip and make being a tyrant ~normal~ again. And with people praising their ancestors who just happened to be quiet, everyday monsters, that's exactly where they'll get, eventually.

I don't know if she should be cancelled, she's not her great grandfather. I wonder though, if she thinks he's praiseworthy, what ELSE is being pushed as normal in her family that she takes for granted, and it's abhorrent to regular people. I quite understand the knetizens rage. Japan's occupation of Korea left deep scars, there are still a few comfort women surviving and the Japanese never recognised the harm they did in the countries they occupied - Korea, China, the Philippines etc. It's a sensitive subject and she could have just not rattled the wasps' nest with her bragging.

I'll choose to think she's just stupid with this.

I seriously don't know how to feel about this drama. Each time I'm watching an ep it's entertaining enough, but I have zero need to get back to it. It's taking a lot of time just to convince myself I want to watch it and I'm kind of disconnected from it at all times. It's like part of the cast is playing in a drama, and the other part is in something else entirely. Even HMH is not keeping me with it.

*sigh* I want to keep watching but at the same time... I kind of don't.

What SK does very well is closed-universe dramas, things that are contained to one special place and there's a bit of a claustrophobic atmosphere in it (and also lots of psychological games). Usually the dramas like that are supernatural or horror, but not always. Examples: ASFK S1, Sweet Home S1, Happiness,

Things that SK does very bad are sequels to closed-universe dramas. They always try to open it up and lose the magic of the beginning. Examples: ASFK S2, Sweet Home S2 and S3, The Uncanny Counter S2 etc.

IMO it's because they always did definite endings to dramas, and the sequel fad only recently came about. People just risk a first season because they never know if a second one is in place, and then don't know how to expand it, really, since they didn't really mean to expand it in the first place.

That's why Western money in Asian dramas is such a bad idea in the long run. *sigh* PARTICULARLY if it's Netflix with their never-continued series, but I see D+ and others are following along.

YingYing (the little girl)'s father. The old man's son isn't blameless either but he's more of an accidental criminal, not really evil.

The timelines are shown intermingled, but some of the events already happened before the kid went missing and it only becomes clear that things aren't linear when it's closer to the end.

It's a good ending, so dive in.

The end of episode scenes aren't always in sync with the timeline. They could've had the message talk before CY went away to that Hunter thing IMHO.

If he were back from looking and going back to school - or whatever that is - he'd have told QL about it, I think.

Han Lu (cute shou) is acting in the movie with Qi HaoYu (dumb gong). He can't get into character when he's asked to imagine being betrayed by a scumbag he really loves, so HaoYu borrows his assistant's phone (the assistant is the amazing Brother Guo) to send him a message cursing HaoYu (himself) as untrustworthy etc. So then Han Lu gets into character easily and they film the scene flawlessly LOL.

There's one other second-hand sending of a message in that ep, and that's QingLang (MC) asking ChangYang's sister (the obnoxious sassaeng) to send ChangYang a staged photo of QL and his ex so that ChangYang (ML) should believe QL is really over him and move on with his life (as if LOL).
