SaRang is a bit too simple, yes. But it's first ep only. She doesn't seem to even have a life outside the hotel and her girlfriends. Does she even have a family?! I guess they'll let us know.

Not the best opening of a drama, but not the worst either. At least there's some eye-candy.

I'm not certain yet, but I'll give it a go for a few more eps, for LJH's sake. (It's a rom-com, but I hope it's not too dumbed down. Hilarious situations can happen even if we're not into misunderstanding-leads-to-enmity and then they become lovers because there's purely physical attraction or something.) The ending of ep 1 leans into burlesque and that's definitely not my type of humour, but maybe they'll up it a little in the next eps. We'll see.

PS Which English castle was that, though? I bet there are some drama addicts who can recognize it.

I am going to go out on a loosely historical bend and propose that alcoholic beverages were discovered way, WAY before 10th century CE.

I mean, the very first findings place fermented rice (and fruits) drinks in China, nine thousand years ago (8 thou' before Al-Razi even lived). Ancient Egyptians were drinking wine and small ale way before Persia even became Persia. Al-Razi realized one of the earliest categorization of elements we know of, but he didn't invent alcohol, just placed it on a category where it belonged.

That is not to say Al-Razi didn't invent a specific type of alcoholic drink, or a specific way to make it, by research or by mistake/side effect of an experiment (she said he invented the original soju, not alcohol in general). But we (mankind) were getting drunk on fermented fallen fruits even before we made it completely down off the trees, so to speak. Even now, animals get drunk on fermented fallen apples and the like, LOL, we weren't special.

Yeah, YGH remembers how XCS said he was YGH when HeiZi was basically threatening them, but he just oops forgets how XCS got him off a freaking landmine and stepped on it himself. And conviniently leaves out how that gave YGH a hero status in the army and opened his future there for ranks and honour.

Instead it's, "you looked at the girl and she looked back and liked what she saw". Petty, really petty.

After all, they've not been in each other's lives for at least 10 years, EVERYBODY grows out of that jealousy phase, LOL. Just not YGH or HCJ. That's why they will lose out in the end.

Okay, I'm going to watch this for SHS. I hope the script does her acting abilities justice.

If anyone reports CHJ, he's going down. This is 2000s China, no actual whistle-blower protections (not that there's any now, I don't think), but CHJ without the Ye family backup is NOTHING. He thinks he made it all himself, but Ye Fang's family had to prop him so that he could even go to college and become a cadre, and now he's divorcing and stabbing YGH in the back after doing shady business with the Li scum, no way anyone's going to stand up for him.

Well, XCS might've at some point in time, but I bet not this time.

And let's not even mention the morale problem - he had a second family (even if he's not married to the mistress) and a child outside marriage, he's going to be expelled from the party and that means no more cushy state jobs for him and a thorough investigation. He can't justify much of his money that's been given by Li. That's why YF doesn't want ANYTHING outside what she made or brought in herself, she can definitely see what the future holds for CHJ.

She's freaking Miss Havisham at this point, IMHO. So stuck in the glorious past she's started forgetting the time she's in, and going on like she's a bit (or a lot) crazy.

XCS is taking the "hate the sin, not the sinner" thing way too far. If it were me, I'd go, "you stabbed me in the back? I'LL STAB YOU IN THE BACK TWICE" LOL.

WTF was HeiZi even doing there? How many times is he allowed to go screwing everyone out of their hard-earned income and reputation?

Also, I used to have such a buttons Nokia back in the day. Actually, I still have it. And it still works. Original SIM too LOL. They were built like rocks. (And before anyone asks, yes, it only has the snake game on it LOL).

PS I don't remember the 2000s house design style being so busy, though. Everybody and their mum have SUCH busy houses. I'm more of a minimalist, I began feeling a bit oppressed LOL. Though that executive leather couch in YGH's office did look amazing. I want one of those. (And nothing else, just that couch LOL).

So many shenanigans with the rankings, it's becoming ludicrous. MDL, seriously?

Two questions, though.

So, did anyone publicly assert that JinXuan was the one who destroyed Xiao ChuHe's inner energy the first time around? And why would Emperor MingDe FORGIVE him for that, if he didn't really want to hurt his son when he let him go?

And second, did Xiao Se really encounter Lei WuJie by coincidence? I get it, if it's fated, they'd meet anyway... but it was kind of the very best time they could have met. And Xiao Se always seemed to be waiting for something in that mountain inn, before WuJie came.

This was great!! I liked all the fights, and while I would've appreciated a bit more of WuXin in the later half, I am totally okay with how it all ended.

Tang Lian's last fight was the best, though, even better than the three-day challenge in TianQi City.

I didn't feel the romance in the latter part either, but I guess nobody's watching such a wuxia tale for the romance anyway. Though I have to admit Lei WuJie's embarassed stammerings whenever he opens mouth, inserts foot in the presence of RuoYi are cute, LOL.

Ding YongDai's presence as Emperor MingDe was SUCH a confusing perspective each and every time he was on screen, LOL. I mean, he's the emperor in Nirvana in Fire, I kept expecting JingYan or Mei ChangSu to come out-reason him LOL. And there he was from a Xiao-named dinasty, and also had imperial family members executed due to his own incompetence or fears! Seriously, is there no other older actor with the presence and experience to act as a failing old emperor, LOL?

I felt kind of sad that Xiao Se let up with the sass in the second half. He was the best when he was mocking everybody (and particularly WuJie) around, and some of them couldn't even tell, hahaha. I guess getting his original identity back meant he had to show some decorum. Sad, though. Sassy Xiao Se for the win! :D

Everybody in the younger cast was stupidly handsome (the men in particular), and I'm not ashamed to admit I liked them all and I might follow some of them in their careers because of it. That's not saying they don't have talent, but TBH, the ones I REALLY did notice were Li HongYi and Liu XueYi.

I might look up the novel, if it's translated, just to see the differences from the drama. (EDIT OMG the freakity freak, it's 460 chapters long and there's 8 extras!!! I sure hope the chapters are short. Am I in luck or not?... *sweating profusely*)

1. Wants to end his OWN suffering (and can't, unless everybody else dies too, or he'll just get revived each and every time). You could say he's a villain, but there are nuances.

2. That one is the one we know least about. I wouldn't call him a villain either. He could just be out for a romp when he's destryoing the sects, LOL.

I guess I don't have a "favourite" villain in this one. Best villain character, YBC obviously. But favourite... not so much.

38 IS too few eps. Let's have them add a few more. I hear they're allowed 50. Should we go with 50? I say we go with 50. :D

I guess they're never going to show us their kids in this drama :(

I feel like they're not fooling anyone by pretending they're not living together at this point, LOL. Definitely mom and dad already know it, no matter how much of an actor XCS thinks he is. "I haven't even gone home yet" yes you did you liar LOL.

I liked how they drew Fang in their inner circle. Let CHJ on the outside where his place is, do (because timeo Danaos et dona ferentes!)!

And did anyone else get a WWX vibe yet AGAIN when he was teaching that kid what trees to climb? I mean... who else did his falling off trees as a kid - and as an adult - and learned the consequences and then just did it better, LOL?

I'm running out of patience, and the drama is running out of time, I want to see MORE!! And faster!! And let QT and YQ's kid run around them in circles, and I want a happy wedding! :D
