Did the episode change from 29 to 32? I noticed they uploaded more episodes today
29 for the original/DVD, 32 for the TV version. Hunan TV has the shorter episode version, so it makes sense it won't fit the story into the exact same amount of time.

They posted more today because there won't be any tomorrow, I think, since it's a mourning day for the people who died in the plane crash this week.

FL is neither aimless nor reckless. On the contrary, the drama starts by showing she is striving to live the life…
It's like everybody keeps forgetting the one-child policy (which meant most families would only have the one child and put all their hopes and dreams and plans etc on them, and also place all the pressure for grandchildren on that one child they had). And at the beginning of the story, she used to have a curfew, she had never gone to a night club and didn't even have the kind of clothes one goes to a bar in, her first love interest was platonic and way back in highschool...

We didn't all grow up freely, left to experience and get more mature as soon as we were all out of our parents' "legal control". Mentally, she's still their little daughter. She's progressed SO much throughout the series - I mean, look where she's spending the night in episode 20, that would have been inconceivable at the beginning of episode 1. But it still takes time.

As for him, he's also been pretty cut off from the world - his parents are doctors, his environment is pretty sterile (sic!), his only friends are colleagues and one (precisely one) cousin, and his personality is only now allowed to stretch a bit, because he met ZhiXiao. They're growing together and it's beautiful to see.

What's the age gap between the 2 leads in the story?
About ten years between the characters, 13 months between the actors :D (he's older).

Episode 20 (DVD).
Still ongoing.

But he said "let me carry you" and I instinctively yelled, NO, LAN ZHAN~! Sometimes I scare myself LOL.

OK, done.

First thing first: the reception guy is Cupid and nobody will convince me otherwise. Also, Dr. Gu, how well did you do research in advance?! OMG that pack of condoms and the heart of petals LOL. I would've panicked too if I were her.

Then again, his wolfish smile while he was teasing her that he was going to get to "it". That felt so natural. I bet XZ's a teaser in real life, it came way too easy to him to act it out.

And then he gave her the "right place, right time, right person" speech. Which I absolutely AGREE with. I mean, it's not like people don't have impulses and needs, but such a thing still should feel special, particularly for a girl - and a man - who are somewhat innocents yet.

That being said, hormones 0, rationality 1. I love seeing responsible people for once in a rom-com.

BTW, a nice sunrise is well, nice, but nothing beats a dramatic sunset. Just my opinion.

AND Yang Zi's cute bedhead OMG she can have such a NICE look, clean and sweet and innocent! I almost fell for her too. She's way too precious. And that with the big bad wolf in her bed too LOL.

RE: the mini theatre. His giggles are killing me. He was giggling on the bridge too (you won't catch me DEAD on a glass bridge even if it meant I get first claim to Xiao Zhan himself, LOL), but his giggles are amazing. I want more of them.

And yeah, this is a rant - I want to be in love now, dammit. Guess I'll have to settle for the platonic one-sided crush...

What is it with the beginning of 19 (DVD), did the director just give them the camera and told them to fool around…
This was the episode in which the boys were mature and the girls went berserk LOL. Including the testing the genes part heheheh.

Edit: and OH THE FIRST KISS ON THE MOUTH (you know, not stolen, not on the cheek... but full-on. OMG. They're... uh. They're moving quite fast :D

I am on Jin Shi's side on this. Yes lovers should be close, but not co-dependent. Let him have his self-space, and anyone should have a harbor, just for winding down and reconsidering who they are, outside influences left aside.

But I like how Gu Wei is giving his mature explanation and ZhiXiao immediately becomes concerned she's putting too much pressure on him, and preemptively tries to give him his space. It's not what he meant, but it's still cute she's trying. It'll come to her :D

And Gu Xiao's face when he realized he's actually in love with SanSan. Yes. I believed you then. Go get her, Gu Xiao!

The mini-theatre LOL - "I wish you a long life with SJ" and her horrified scream at the end hahaha. These guys are way too cute together. They're setting the bar so high up no real life person can reach it any more. It's not even in sight by now :D

What is it with the beginning of 19 (DVD), did the director just give them the camera and told them to fool around LOL? It doesn't even feel like they're acting, it's like they're actually in love and is it getting hot in here or is it just me? :D

I know a lot of people find San San to be annoying but putting it in a perspective, I totally understand her overprotectiveness.…
Actually, if they're officially together (it's not an one-sided love), I'd confront him/her myself and have a talking-to before telling my friend, if I ever do. Sometimes it's simpler to let them keep the rosy glasses on, particularly if the crush is not actually doing anything sketchy but my friend might take it the wrong way and start being jealous for nothing. There are plenty of people who are insecure in their relationships, if there's no true need, then there's no harm to not inform them of anything that might not be to their help.

But I am not 20-some any more and I've been used to not cause storms in a teacup for a long time now LOL. I DO remember those moods and that thinking in absolutes we all used to do, though :D

Agree! And if you haven't seen it, I hope you can also watch Xiao Zhan in 'Our Song' season 1 which is a singing…
He has quite a lot of songs, of which a lot are part of the soundtracks of the dramas he starred in. He actually debuted as part of XNine, a boys group, LOL (but at quite an older age than the usual boys group member :D)

His voice is very sweet and he can hit some pretty high notes. If you want to hear some samples of what he can do...try these few. You're going to look them up later yourself :)

Remaining Years (from Joy of Life OST): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rei8uhtxwzc

Wu Ji (but we all know it's supposed to be WangXian LOL, from The Untamed OST, the duet version): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cZn1_Hp_EU

The Oath of Love theme song (with Yang Zi): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zjoM9WqmvxA

Youth on a Horseback (from Douluo Continent OST): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dIkD4EhzP_8

From the songs that are not part of soundtracks, there are quite a few beautiful ones...

Checked out Xiao Zhan's other dramas over the weekend. I'm in the middle of watching 2 of them. The Untamed and…
You're watching TU. He has chemistry with that wine bottle. And the donkey. And the bunnies. And the FLUTE.

And we're not even going to mention women and men :D

You should watch The Wolf too, even if he's the SML. It's one of my favourite characters from him - rogue Ji Chong is worth watching the drama, despite they way the censors destroyed the main storyline.

I didn’t expect Xiao Zhan so romantic 😇But he is so good/perfect in romantic scene😂
If you followed it as it was airing, you know there was a whole mess behind some of the directions the production took in the end... since even before it aired.

But XZ does have great skill, and it showed. So despite everything, it was at least an interesting character to watch.

I so want him to have a drama with Bai Lu - she's my favourite Chinese actress. I can't decide if I'd like a wuxia/xianxia or a modern drama with them - maybe a modern one, because costume dramas tend to be so much more dramatic than modern stories, and sometimes that deducts from the actual plot. But then, they both look so good in costume...

**throwing up hands in the air** Any new drama or movie with them, or separate, I'll take it, please :D

Well, Ace Troops wasn't about romance, but mostly about being men and taking responsiblity. I think he did great with his role as a stoic and responsible soldier. And Douluo Continent was never about romance but about the power-up LOL. I'm actually glad they kept most of the romantic parts out. That drama was so shounen it hurt heheh.

I have a feeling Where Dreams Begin is going to be romance-less too. But he might shine as a romantic star again in The Longest Promise... though we might have the longest wait for it too LOL.

I guess he was being direct and warning Gu Wei he's in a competition. Not that LZX didn't set that straight as soon as he (SJ) confessed to her LOL. And well, Gu Wei needed a reason to get a bit overpossessive LOL.

It didn't matter, he was still way too romantic. Especially as rogue Ji Chong, though my heart broke for him as Prince ChuAn. At least he got the SFL, and she was WAY smarter than MZX. I mean, she stayed alive AND got her man. What more can a girl do? :D

Have you seen him as Ji Chong?! He can do romantic at the drop of a hat. With women AND men actor partners, if we're talking about it LOL. I don't know who's going to be with in his real life, but that person is going to be one happy person, if he's just a tiny bit as romantic as he can be in a role.

That was such a Howl's Moving Castle moment LOL (When Turnip turned back into a human and was rejected by Sophie, he said something like, "I'll try again in a year, a woman's heart is fickle"). Shao Jiang is soooo Turnip at that moment :D

I mean, death by sugar overdose might not be too bad, all things considered. Ep 18 (DVD).
"You know I don't like coriander" and then as a punishment he has to eat coriander-flavoured icecream (sounds yucky, I pity him), *IT'S WORTH IT!*

Grabbing all the points there, Dr. Gu.

Also, "Make a wish!" (to fireworks, LOL, she's too cute :D), and he goes all serious: "My wish is right next to me!" **swoon**

All the wanna-be come-betweeners in this drama give up pretty quick, here's a toast to them for not being infinitely obnoxious, LOL.

And the mini-theatre at the end of ep. 18 - "Who's the intelligent one?" - "You are!"
"Then who's the cute one?" - "Also you!" NICE save there, Dr! Though your grammar is kind of sketchy indeed LOL.

Two thirds in, noooo. I want more!

End of ep 16 (DVD): What can you do when you get a sugar overload?!
Mini-special (by demand :D)

Wei WuXian (eating melon seeds in the gallery): I think love declarations are silly. Particularly in public.
Lan WangJi (suffering stoically): Mn.
Wen Ning (**does.not.compute.exe**): What do you mean, in public?
Wei WuXian (very loudly): For example, like when Jin ZiXuan confessed to Shi Jie in public - hahahaha, did you see their faces?
Jin ZiXuan (mumbling): As if you would recognize true love if it hit you over the head with a sword. (mouthing the words) Like Bichen.
Jiang Cheng (sharing the melon seeds pack): Yeah, love should be understated. Like give her a gift or something to let her know you're interested.
Jin Ling (mouthing the words) Preferably before she's dead. Just saying.
Gu Wei: I bought her a fresh drink. It was DEFINITELY against my better judgement, since fizzy drinks are bad for your teeth and too much sugar before bed will not help a good night's sleep. But at the time I thought it was a cute gesture.
Wei WuXian (generously): I'll give you a bottle of Emperor's Smile. You can share it with her.
Gu Wei: Alcohol impairs judgement. Can't give that to a girl. In fact, nobody should over indulge.
Wei WuXian: I just KNEW you don't know how to have fun. I mean, you don't even eat spicy food. Let me tell you, spicy food and alcohol are the best things in life, bar none.
**Everybody - but Lan WangJi - shares an embarassed look. Lan WangJi doesn't change expression**
Wei WuXian (suspicious): WHAT?!
Gu Wei: Anyway, I also told her. On purpose. In public. And then I asked her out on a date.
**Everybody but Wei WuXian furiously taking notes.**
Wei WuXian: I still think a bottle of Emperor's Smile would do the trick. Right Lan Zhan?
Lan WangJi: **uncorks the bottle** Everyday means everyday.

Rebound guy always draws the shorter stick, it can't be helped. But maybe he has a chance to become Mr. Right, this is a romcom, anything can happen.
