Not a good time for TV ratings. We have entrance exams at the beginning of June which really are considered the most important moment in a young person's life. So the TVs are off, the whole family bends to the preparations. Usually the highest ratings are winter vacation and lowest around this time and beginning of June before it starts to rise again.

Biggest rumor out now is May 17th. Seems very likely because this is pretty much the time that has been talked about and it fits with CCTV schedule and upcoming dramas. So, very awkward timing but it's coming.

There are a lot of bad faith melons flying around right now. Nothing even remotely reliable. As soon as I see it, I will post. Rumors are still saying second half of May (so that melon that said around the 18th) but nothing new just yet that is more certain.

It's a bit complicated. One, it is not Youku that decides the broadcast date. Whenever a drama is to be shown on CCTV it is CCTV alone that decides on it. Youku has no influence. They have to wait for it to be announced to get publicity going. At best we might get a trailer.

Two, Xiao Zhan doesn't do varieties or similar. Keep in mind that this is a male focused drama so it is difficult to do publicity outside of him. On occasion, like with WDB, there might be a whole cast thing but this will be later on if we are lucky.

Overall, it's unfortunately just one of those things we are used to. Very little to no publicity before the drama starts. It's not great but what can we do. Maybe it will be different this time but personally I am not hoping for it, to avoid being disappointed. CXFX usually do their own promo in China but Youku is also good at it so probably the best we can hope for is that once the drama starts, they go all out.

SBMS has the wrong synopsis. We tried and tried to get it fixed because it is detrimental to the drama but we never succeeded. I think we are going to end up stuck with this photo too.

He is the main role but Xinli used this drama as a springboard for the hockey couple, especially the hockey guy, that was supposed to take up the role of YBY in JOL2 that was previously done by XZ.

So they wanted to use SBMS and XZ's popularity to launch him. It caused major backlash that even the director had to address it at one point (and he talked nonsense that got everyone even more mad) and ultimately it of course didn't work. It's impossible to force popularity. But it damaged this drama to a large extent. Xinli has done this before, used big names to launch newbies so it wasn't the first time either. This is always done without the main actors knowing. Additional material is filmed and the main gets deleted while the whoever needs pushing is inserted. Luckily this was the last contractual obligation XZ had towards Xinli so he is free from them.

I agree we can't and I don't think we should even think about policing content here but I think it's ok to ask to just please be as careful as possible if the news is from Weibo/anything Chinese. Crazy money goes into black marketing and it hasn't even started properly for ZHZ but Weibo and Douban already have water armies attacking the drama big time and marketing accounts churning out content. I feel sorry for the international fans because it is so difficult to try and handle it all.

Because bringing over rumors from China can be very problematic if you don't know the background.

It's an unfortunate fact that lots of cent is very problematic. It's fine to bring over rumors when you know there's nothing behind them. But please be sure this is the case. That xzmelons on twitter has a great filter so there is really no need to go beyond what they post, they are very careful.

You can watch his movies too. It takes a while but eventually, the streaming platforms like Youku will have the movie too. It's already available in China and soon it will be internationally too.

His new drama starts filming in May.

It's the usual case for XZ works. In China there was a huge black orchestrated campaign and it always spreads to the international side too.

Especially ignore what Reddit says, it is chock full of XZ haters, both cdrama subs there are run by people who hate him and a lot of XFX have been banned or simply left due to them while the posters express their bitterness over their own idols. MDL is not much better, his works get rated 1 en masse and considering who are the admins it will never change.

Always, always make up your own mind about XZ works because the money that goes into trying to suppress him is huge. You will see now when Zanghai starts, the same thing will just switch to that.

There is some romance but it's not the focus, no.

I can't dictate them but hopefully nobody is going to start crying if I start naming the leecher then.

The point is that people here are courteous. We haven't been bringing over any Weibo or Douban issues on purpose, we want to avoid the toxicity and make sure everyone can enjoy this drama without it. That doesn't mean we don't see what is going on in China. I can post a dozen links to this nonsense within the next minute.

So it is only courteous to keep this idol's drafts away from this page. I don't care if they are posted on his but bringing it here is too far. I am still being decent here and not naming anyone. But if his fans can't be decent in return, then don't blame us.

Yes, I know what it relates to, I was trying to be diplomatic but if you want to force my hand, fine.

It relates to a different drama that has been using Xiao Zhan and Zanghai Zhuan for weeks now to build hype for themselves and leech.

You can go hype your idol somewhere else and not here, like on your page where you are working overtime for him. There is no credible date about Zanghai Zhuan being at the start of May.

Facebook is the worst possible source for anything. They post without any sources at all. There is no real date for this drama anywhere on Chinese platforms and the current melons actually say late May and early June.

Who cares about others. This is China's top stream, this drama is going to CCTV and it has nothing to do with whatever web dramas are broadcasting. It's a completely different ballgame.

The only problem with broadcasting it around end of May or June is the examination period but we will see what happens there, there is still time.

There cannot be season two because everything in the novel has already been covered in what you have watched. The other problem is that China is even more restrictive now than it used to be towards anything related to BL, as you can see in multiple dramas being shelved.

Third, Xiao Zhan has moved on with his career. He has moved from idol drama and is now working in serious drama projects with top teams and directors.

Most people on this page are moving with him so usually the talk is about his current projects that are either being broadcast or are upcoming (like the spy drama right now).

I am sure there are many people who still like CQL (I certainly do) but you will probably more easily find people who are still talking about it on the drama page, not here his page.
