It's like each time they met, Xiao Heng found another thing he admires A Li for. He gradually learned about who XFF was as a person & naturally liked (& eventually loved) her for her.

I also love the fact that neither of them ever shying away from their respectuve feelings, they embraced how they felt & thought about each other, but also at the same time were still capable of being completely rational of the situations they were in, which enable them to manage their affection & desire for each other properly.

When most of us here abruptly hoped for weekdays, monday in particular, to come sooner 😅

But boi did it with style & manner (+ fan)..

Like a true good ol' Hollywood gentleman in the golden era.

Xiao Heng's 'A Li' is said with his entire soul speaking. It was slow spoken, stern & personal.

I also cherish every time A Li calls him Xiao Heng, she rarely said it, but when she did, she sounded as though she was semi-nagging him, like her girly side came out every time she did that 😄

From Xiao Heng's pawn to the Queen of his heart, Xue Fangfei had surely come a long way to find her one true love & her happy ending.

He certainly did gain satisfaction from annoying her 😂
Cause, as WXY himself stated, (like any normal men) her beauty caught his attention on that day he saw her from the rooftop balcony of the tea house, but that was only until he learned that she was married, because he is a decent gentleman.
But when they met again at the nunnery, he was intrigued by her even more so because of her new identity.

He was majorly suspicious of her, but it almost seemed like he wanted to subtly coerce her to admit it herself by provoking her constantly with his ways of being casual with her like they've know each other for a long time. 🥸

That slow-mo shots of XFF & XH were impactful.

That's prob why on the later episodes, Wu Jinyan insisted on doing the chin-lifting part, while circling around Xiao Heng, girl be like "I got game, too, Wang Tao." 😎

That moment when her veil was removed and their eyes met...ughhh..be still my heart...seemed like Xiao Heng fell in love all over again at that very moment.

It was equally gripping with the pilot episode...it happened fast and stayed on your mind for quite some time.

oh i remember it now..wasnt it also the first instance Xiao Heng called her A Li...only real man with real guts deserves our girl..

The way he said it alone was intense..not to mention it was in a broad daylight, in front of other people..i was like, how are we gonna survive when he said such things to her in private !?

Precisely that. Ahahha...Gregory Peck is indeed the gentleman himself, on and off screen (that i know of).
Although James Stewart, too, had that charming eyes that i fell for in The Philadelphia Story.

With his acting skill AND that foine face, plus his blunt personality, he would've definitely had the chance to stood out.

This movie feels like a joint project involving Quentin Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, Stephen Chow & Da Peng. It's fast paced, quirky, slapsticky, grisly, thrilling and everything in between.
Get ready for the weirdest, most surreal dream realm you'd ever find yourself walked into.

The fact that not a single soul there even tried to stop A Li before that final stab, added the level of unspoken satisfaction i gained from that scene.

If it wasn't for the sake of law enforcement, Duke Su would've probably asked everyone else left the scene so his A Li could chop him into pieces all night long.

Just when i thought he couldn't possibly be more intolerable, he made me see what he did to The Muted Lady.
He ain't human.

If i had to choose, apart from the rain scene, one of my top 5 fave moments of A Li & Xiao Heng would be the part where A Li suddenly froze right before entering the sand/gold mine.

Because the memory of her being buried alive by murderer shen flashed through her mind, she quickly grabbed the wall on her left side. Right at that moment, upon seeing her went blank & just stood there motionless, Xiao Heng paused his steps for like 3 seconds, giving her some time to breathe properly, and then without a word, he quietly walked up to her, gently took her hand & started walking inside the cave, hand in hand, with him leading in the front.

That scene had only one sentence spoken by Xiao Heng, but i think it was an impactful, gripping moment for A Li.

Like the last time she was being in a space that tiny, she was lying on the ground watching her own husband, who once claimed he loved her, do his best to get her killed.

But this time, a man who had never even confessed his feelings to her, has chosen to willingly walk into a pit of unknown danger alongside her, with her hands in his, guiding her through the pitch black darkness every step of the way, being there for her whenever she needed, but never did the man doubt her capability or undermine her intelligence throughout.
