I have never found a way to watch this series on Roku, & recently (finally) added a FireStick to my setup cuz 1. it has the iQiyi app! yay so I can now watch other series on there without the pain of mirroring lol & 2. being actually Android-based it has multiple VPNs that I can use with Netflix so I don't have to mess with my router (as I was considering doing at some point) for my general movie-viewing interests (my alrdy-packed Letterboxd watchlist is always growing!) xD

So of course the first thing I did after setting up my iQiyi was check up on this series but arrghh yeah the disappointment from the messy subs still hurts!! (& moreso because wow it looks pretty in HD loool)

Basically the issue behind it is that no one on their team or whoever provides them with fully hand-translated subs has felt like bothering with that one for some unknown reason so.. I had been using the mobile app to do the request for getting them fixed but clearly it didn't help (yet) x.x

Ah, that figures, heh - many of the m/m source novels tend to be of the "uncensored" R/X-rated type anyways. (That film I referenced had X-type moments too) I also agree that reading can help fill in gaps! Tho sometimes it backfires if the written media has ~worse writing.. LOL "ruined" vibes xD

Oh, the mini-Ch-drama, that's still on my to-watchlist. Is it on Viki/YT? The plot sounded like a Spanish film called Plan B (2009) lol but if the Ch one didn't get a proper ending that's unfortunate; overcensorship is so frustrating especially when it blocks even potentially good G-rated queer romances! (my fave) ♡

The goal level for that tho is "being on an official TV network" & at least ten to sixteen hours of content, regardless of ep count. These indies are great progress but we have yet to get our first real one on broadcast or cable. That day will be epic indeed.. ♡

the nice thing about true "love squares" is a person is never left out lol like on dates where there are two-seated spots, the third one in just a basic "love trio" typically gets kinda lonely ie in a backseat or at tables in restaurants or on amusement park rides.. & the best ones just take turns in the "third spot" of course but with an OT4 the possibilities of cuteness are ~multiplied ahaha ♡ (me thinking optimistically about the best scenarios because I'm not good at choosing either LOL)

for real loool & I need smth as cute as the way we got to see XiaoRou's crush on ChuLu in Soft Memory (Ch) play out, it was one of the most precious I've ever seen, even if started under a "straight" lens & got cutoff & no-homo'd arnd the 60-75% point in (I still got 2hrs left but overall, will always love the cuteness of XR's character) ♡

that was me when I first started in dramas loool then eventually I ended up just balancing everything out in pairs (like I prefer to do with other types of serials) & "random" slow-watching.. makes the good ones last longer xD

It did feel a bit too cheesey dramatic, with the way this was filmed & written, etc but actually the act of returning to the scene / location of trauma is a real thing in treating PTSD in certain cases, & has been supported by various professionals in mental health work. It's not like a magical fix or whatever else ppl might assume, but it ~can go a long way in healing, recovery & moving on. ♡

They just made a big deal of saying & pointing out that it was overall irrelevant what the app would say even if she didn't have the shield, that she ~chose HY of her own free will & personal decision, & that SO should respect it & they could both leave the past behind them. That's what the scene is about where SO starts remembering highschool JJ walking down the path & it flashes btwn the memory & present time. Why she wanted to leave SO in the past? That wasn't explained.

But it was confirmed that at some point, she began liking HY for real as the app actually had tracked her feelings the whole time, & we're shown the many times it should've rung for HY if the shield hadn't been blocking it. Hope that helps!

That's the most problematic part of that trope, it reinforces & perpetuates the dark concept of "good / nice / kind / etc = boring / doormat / lacking passion", pfftt.. so many ppl have that stuck in their heads now & only want leads (both onscreen & in RL) who are the opposite as "bad / pushy / rude / etc = exciting / proactive / passionate".. x.x

That's smth they SHOULD have explored!!

Soooo many different types of feelings that get just lumped under the "like/love" umbrella, itself which is all conflated in one big mess cuz rings went off for such easily fleeting feelings as "that girl's cute" (they show that happening ~multiple times which proves it picks up on mere crushes!) YET they continue to obsess over the thing like it's an indicator of REAL love, pfftt.. && meanwhile the only time it was shown working realistically was when it was JoJo's college classmate rings a lot of "cute guys" cuz she "just likes them" on their level of cuteness lol siiigh.. x.x

So two ways this concept could've been much better explored: one, a ringing SCALE from basic "attraction" (be it physical or emotional, etc), to mild crush to serious crush to swoony love to "ready for commitment" love (5 levels, perfectly balanced). Two, yesss the potential for a love triangle to leave the cliche behind & finally prove you CAN "love" more than one person at a time romantically, lol & then defy the stereotypes & tropes of jealousy by making it work!

cuz then they couldn't spend 14hrs just sadly staring at each other so ~dramatically, pfftt (& walking away, & staring into space, & on & on..)

1. something about "moving on from her past" & obviously the monogamous-aspect of ~heteronormativity that convinces ppl you can't possibly love more than one person romantically at a time so you must be over the other one if you like this person now, hmm..

2. Brian Chon was CDG's brother, we see a quick flashback to him watching CDG try to explain how Love Alarm works back when CDG was making it in his high school room.. it's never stated clearly but implied that CDG was in a multi-year coma after his suicide attempt & had only woken up recently but kept that fact hidden from his brother who was having him cared for while in his comatose state (thus the camera in his private hospital room)

3. GulMi seemingly ends up finally capitalizing on her sudden internet fame

4. political dad keeps on running for office positions & having his affair(s) while miserable actress mom keeps on missing her glory days & being stuck in a loveless marriage possibly regrets mistreating her son who is tired enough to forgive her
