Having watched MGB since April, its 1st episode, I feel like the series has managed to pull me into a certain JossGawin zone. There is something magical about the tandem of Joss and Gawin. I admit that MGB is not a groundbreaking BL series. But I think MGB has managed to carry out the elements of what BL is.
Having been a consumer of BL since 2006, beginning with Haru o Daiteita, which I think Joss and Gawin can land the roles if there is no resistance since it is kind of 'porny', I believe MGB showcases what BL is in a supernatural setting where vampires and vampire clans exist.
It is a low-budget production because the production company seems to find JossGawin to be a gamble. It lacks high-quality CGI because it is a low-budget production.
Is the plot too poor?
I don't think so. It rather demonstrates another angle of a love story between a human and a vampire, not typically seen in Western entertainment media.
It showcases a modicum of horror, thriller, suspense and angst. But it is mostly filled with love, fluffiness, lust and yes, love. The value of friendship is there, as well as the ugly faces of deception and betrayal.
But MGB is mostly about Tong and Mark while the others hold the supporting roles and the villains are rightfully highlighted, while the rest comprise the backdrop. It conveys the world-building meaningfully without making it too fantastical.
I still complain about a few plot holes, such as Mark's attempt to heal Tonkla while the latter remained spit-roasted and the date of Tong's birthday, which the lovers failed to celebrate.
Since the last episode is about Tong about to be devoured by the vampire queen; hence, Tong seems to have celebrated his 21st birthday, in which Mark didn't even bother to buy a cake and instead, they just dove into bed (or bath tub) for some birthday sex. Tong probably managed to get the right amount of meat and protein intake that way.
Despite fewer than a handful of plot holes, I still commend the director of MGB for good direction (8/10) and great cinematography(7/10).
For the actors, I give a rating of 8.5/10. Meanwhile, JossGawin's chemistry is 11/10.
On another note, I feel that the negative reviews posted on the MGB page are too biased. I miss those times when BL was not like Kpop. I think it started around 2gether when it began to feel that way.
As for other fans who bash JossGawin for being the straightest BL couple, I think you missed the 2gether series. BrightWin is the straightest tandem that skyrocketed to BL superstardom. I don't have anything against them. I am more objective as a BL reviewer. But 2gether is a dismal production despite having a very great romantic plot. The director did a disservice to the BL community for that. But it is still an enigma as to why it created more buzz than I expected. Dark Blue Kiss is way better, but TayNew was completely eclipsed by MewGulf at that time.
Are Joss and Gawin straight? My gaydar is saying that they are not. They are the most subtle when it comes to flirting.

This is the second BL where I am compelled to renew my iQiyi subscription after KinnPorsche. MGB is a great BL series despite some plot holes. I enjoy watching it and mostly for JossGawin.
Secondly, I have seen other series with Joss and Gawin cast separately. What is striking is that I find the rebellious characters of Gawin in Dark Blue Kiss and Joss in the Player to have been well played by the actors. However, in MGB, Joss seems to be more within his elements, his comfort zone in acting--stoic, serious, a bit playful, and romantic. Gawin, on the other hand, strives to play the role with integrity. Many feel that Gawin lacks acting prowess. But I refute that claim or comment. Despite the role seemingly being difficult for him, he has still managed to convince a certain part of the audience that he could play this role with sincerity.
Thirdly, their chemistry. This seems to be the first BL series from GMMTV where the love scenes, from kissing to making out to simulated sex acts, are played with high passion by the actors. Joss and Gawin know how to kiss. Even those crumbs of romance can make the hearts flutter. They have so far reached a high level of on-screen chemistry among BL actors, even beyond GMMTV. Their passion is REAL.
As for off-screen chemistry, I find their friendship to be endearing. I can feel the vibes even as I see them on electronic devices. Occultists are most sensitive when feeling the vibes and frequencies on electronic devices. So far, JossGawin, as I have seen, has fluctuating vibes. They range from best friends-bro vibes to gay couple vibes. It is sometimes confusing. They are attracted to each other, but I can't see a heartstring... until more recently. Honestly, I am more surprised about MilesApo for their endorsement deals, but I think they are just friends with great romantic chemistry. However, I am glad for their successes. They deserve those deals. KinnPorsche is a masterpiece. (yeah, more digressing subjects, LOL)
Meanwhile, many fans bash JossGawin for lacking off-screen chemistry. But honestly, they have among the strongest off-screen chemistry among BL actors. Moreover, I also sense that their coupling will last longer than most BL couples in the Thai entertainment industry. Their primal astrology is 78% compatible. But they seem to have weathered the challenges, and I already sense their compatibility is skyrocketing.
Now, I am happy that they have reached a certain point in their career where they will experience more successes. But from the recent episode, I have a less favorable impression of Mark. He has been alive for over a hundred years, and yet he didn't know the purpose of the humans with Golden Blood. I assume Thara used Nakar before to 'groom' humans with Golden Blood for her interest. Still, Mark, being an avid follower, a sidekick of Thara for more than a hundred years, wasn't entirely aware of this?
I don't know why some posts are about hating on Gawin or his acting.
