I adore this show. I can't exactly remember if I did read the manhwa or not, or maybe I read half of it at very early hours of the morning and then passed out, but this show is wonderful. A Shoulder to Cry On is more than a bullying enemies-to-lovers gay trope show. Taehyun is more than just an asshole (and he's not doing everything simply because he "likes" Da Yeol). I think people tend to forget that real people like him exist. There is more to human beings than good and bad. I was a horrible person at one point, and I held similar (but of course not exactly the same), reasons for acting the way I did.
Taehyun is a depressed teenager with childhood trauma. He lives alone, and has no true friends. Nobody truly knows him, and when you have to deal with the blunt of the damage by yourself, alone all of the time, it gets to you. Taehyun isn't a bad person, but that doesn't take away the badness of his actions. But there is more to him than just being some homo bully.
And Da Yeol. His gay panic is so real. lol. His father is a caring alcoholic. Neither Da Yeol nor Taehyun have perfect families. But there is a very distinct line of love within their homes between the two of them, albeit out of the usual norm people are used to. There is always something playing from Da Yeol's television in the living room, meanwhile Taehyun's is awkwardly silent.
Anyways, I love both of them. I like the cinematography, I enjoy the side characters, and above all, I will always protect Taehyun. he is me and I am him. lol.

also? the sex scene. I am so gay, and so lonely, and it was so gentle and filled with genuine love that it made me depressed. this show has the special quality of harboring honest queerness. that sad, feverish, kind of gay.
I got around to watching episode 3... my god. this show is something different. it wants us to feel something, from the way Ritsu stares into the camera to us in the flashbacks, to the written awkwardness, and to Fumiya's utter defeat towards his situation. his actor is doing a wonderful job at showing the literal gears turning in his head. and oh my, Ritsu. there is so much person inside of him. there isn't much information we have on either of the characters, but they both seem so entirely human you can't help but find them endearing. also I love the shot they left in when Ritsu almost falls out of his chair after sitting down in front of the campfire, you can tell the stumble wasn't intentional based on both of the actors reactions. lol.
yo, this show rocks! the loneliness of some of the shots (specifically the scene of Ritsu apologizing to Masumi), filled me with earth shattering (no pun intended..) despair. hooray for gay people and mental illness!
I am also here because of SKZ, similar to the person below me, when Han chased after him and picked him up (????) to carry him back onto the set. it made me go crazy 😠he was so cute I had to come and look him up on here lol. also because I’m Han biased.
I made the mistake of watching this on a school night. this show is something that changes the way you interact with the world, even if only for a little bit. it's strange and filled with a lot of love for very small things. I always knew about the manga, for some reason I thought the plot was entirely different. I adore this show. P.S. in my heart, all of these idiots end up living together in a house. and my gay little heart has a lot of headcanons.
I like this show. I like the shitty characters. I like them basically becoming fathers of a suicidal high school student for the last 7 days of humanity. I like this show despite it's flaws (I haven't read the manga and am taking everything as it comes), and I find the main characters to be very charming. they're weird. Ritsu is a manwhore, Masumi is a bit of a freak, and I love them both for it. Hira and Kiyoi from Utsukushii Kare are both equally as strange and nobody bats an eye. I adore my morally gray filmography!
because this show was so good, I hope for a season two. from the acting, to the cinematography, to the storytelling. but honestly, if it doesn't get a season two, I can't hate it. yes, there are more questions to unfold. but if I just pretend that it ends there (and there isn't a shit ton left of the manga), I can still like it: the cycle repeats. everything stays as it was. nothing has changed and it never will.
somewhere around episode 3, I started to really love this show. you come to realize that the "bad" is not only the Goto family, but quite literally everyone. our main hero is an anger issue ridden cop that usually beats people unconscious once he gets ahold of them. he doesn't care if he kills someone. what exactly does it mean to be bad? what is able to be forgiven?
is this show the best? no. there's a bunch of sore tropes that I hate, but there is also a lot of good. Hao Ting's and Sun Bo's discussions about sexuality are nice. the sexual assault, not so much.
I finally, finally, decided to watch this. halfway through (yes, I know the ending), and GOD. I love Xiang Hao Ting giant puppy dog agenda. he's just such... a big doofus. he had me smiling at my screen all gooey because he's so lovably dumb. also I love when he sits on Xi Gu's lap. really completes the ultimate himbo way I see him. lol.
