It’s not only historian who are allowed to read the reports. Anyone is. But you have to keep in mind that in those historical times, most people were in the slave ranks and didn’t read unfortunately. They wanted to keep the record for future generation so they can learn how things were. The historians job is to protect the present from being manipulated. Like powerful people trying to look good when they are not can use historians to achieve that. That’s the reason they refused to let people in the Royal court read the current stuff. They were afraid that those powerful people can destroy them.
The reason why hae Ryung didn’t want any one to read that record is that it was very controversial record and a historian lost his life because of it and other corrupt historians were promoted. She didn’t know who she can trust with the info as if she shares it with wrong people they could destroy it and claim it never existed. She needed a plan in order to make sure it didn’t fall in the wrong hands. And that record was actually shared with many peoples in the start but the bad people kept destroying it and the villages that got it. She didn’t want that to happen.
I knew you did not say the queen didn’t like him, but you said she wanted him to be a king for herself. But she actually lose or win nothing by him being the king. She is already the queen mother. No one can take that from her. I’m explaining that she wanted dowon to be protected by becoming the king. But she finally understood that it’s not what he wanted.

I really don’t understand your confusion about the whole historians work because it was pretty clear. They write and document everything in records and protect these records from being manipulated by the powerful people in order not to change what really happened. They keep all records protected in order to pass it for future generations because that was the only way they could do that having no other advanced ways or keep records. They believed that writing everything that happened without interference is the way to give information and knowledge to the next generation. Hae ryung herself had a bit of a problem with that because she wanted to fix what’s wrong and bring justice. The problem that it was not the work of historians to do that. Historians are only supposed to write everything and leave the books to the next generations to learn from them.
This was a romcom historical fusion drama. It’s not strange to have the relationship between the leads as the focal point. His they grew to like each other despite their differences and how they support and love each other.
I don’t think the queen mother didn’t like dowon. She wanted him to become the king because she wanted him not to be in danger anymore and wanted him to be powerful and protected as he was not when he was outcast Prince.

Many migrants have kids who don’t have a right to a citizenship in the country they live at the time of birth. All European countries don’t give citizenship at birth neither most other countries in the world including Asian countries unless one parent is a citizen. That’s not wild at all nor even strange. They just need to contact their county of origin embassy and provide birth certificate and get the child registered and a passport.

Ya I see what u mean. I’m personally not a huge fan of love triangles. I always feel so bad for the SML. Even in this one I felt bad for the guy who lost.

There r dramas with no love triangle. My favorite is run on. Its a slice of life drama about 2 couples. No love triangle drama at all.

I’m not a big fan of goblin but it’s a lot better than this one in my opinion. The dialogue here is very draggy and they keep repeating the same stuff over and over. I’m not also convinced with the chemistry unlike her chemistry with the ml in strong woman which was great. I suggest you give it a try and see if you like it as people have different taste. It didn’t work for me but some others really liked it.

I’m not comparing characters here. I m saying that ML in totnt was able to portray such character more accurately. Yes both are different dramas and characters but we are talking about a 100s of years gumiho who has been living and cultivating among humans for a 1000 yet some actions show him clueless like an alien who just landed on earth. Director should have payed attention to that.
Again, chemistry is subjective. Many people are being swayed by the SL now because they see strong chemistry between him an fl. I have seen countless comments about it on Instagram and YouTube.

But your description of the character is exactly what is not being portrayed here. I didn’t compare both characters nor expected them to be the same. Being a 1000 year fox would have certain characteristics that are not being portrayed well here unlike with totnt. If you don’t see it fair enough. But it’s quit obvious for me. It feel to me sometimes that the character is more of a robot or alien rather than a 1000 years old fox.

I never said the actor is not good and it’s not about bias as it’s the first time I see the sl.. I have been following ml since go back couple because he did very good there. I just feel, in this character, he is missing something. I know how the character is and I think lee dong wok did more justice to such character in the tale on nine tailed because his coldness was spot on. I just feel something missing here. His coldness doesn’t tell me he is an almost 1000 fox. Also, chemistry wise I feel the same. The familiar kind of chemistry (that I usually like) is missing here. I personally don’t see much chemistry. But chemistry is subjective and we all see it differently. The second lead to me seamed more layered though I don’t like such characters of play boy in kdrama and it’s over used. But I like how expressive the actor is. That’s being said, I’m not like expecting him and the fl to end up together.

His looks has nothing to do with why I like him. I liked him because the actor is very good and layered in his acting. The actors I like has nothing to do with looks. I actually don’t like many of those one dimensional actors who add nothing to the character but popular due to looks. And it’s offensive to claim that people like his because of his look. According to ur logic, we all should like the main lead considering he is objectively better looking, taller etc…

The ship war here is nothing comparable to start up. Saying that, people are entitled to their opinion. I personally like the SL because the actors is very very good and I like his expressive eyes. Do I think he will end up with the FL. no but I like the actor. I like the ml and really enjoyed his performance in go back couple but I think he needs to work on his expression more to suit this character. I feel he and the fl are missing when it comes to chemistry. That’s my opinion and you have every right to disagree with it.

In the original story, it is clearly said that he just made it visible. It’s not my interpretation :)

The second lead is an awesome actor and I find his chemistry with the fl a lot better than hers and the ml. I’m also having hard time liking the main leads together. They just don’t have good chemistry unfortunately. I liked the ml in go back couple. He was perfect for the role but I don’t find him very fit for this type of character.

I get surprised really when people say there was no character or plot development and I have watched this drama at least 5 times. Unlike dramas with robot kind of characters were we as audience see where it’s going and are given perfect characters who are not anything like humans, this one was the complete opposite. It was about flawed humans. We had normal humans here with flaws and no one was perfect. I didn’t see the main guy as good since the start. He had good qualities but also the bad ones. He was greedy, revengeful, ready to use people for his own advantage (he used the FL too many times to count to get advantages. The SML while supposedly had everything, he really didn’t. His parents wanted him to be molded in one way only and treated him like property. He was apprehensive of his statues as it’s one thing that attracted people to him. He never knew if anyone really cared for him for himself or just his money. The FL was also another example of a normal realistic human being. She lost her parents at a very young age and was taken by her mom’s enemy who stole all her money and fortune and treated her like a slave. She grew up as an orphan with no social skills and had very little conferences in herself. That is very realistic in comparison to showing orphans always those happy go lucky people. I personally loved the characters and their development and it was clearly layered to me. The ending was very appropriate too in relation to the realistic perspective the drama followed. I understand people like to watch kdrama to forget about thier problems and realities, that why I think most people were too harsh on this drama.

Yes! Seriously Run on is really great drama. It’s one of my favourites and a gem of drama.

I have to disagree about this drama being philosophical. I love dialogue driven dramas and really liked run on due to the intelligent dialogue. But it’s just non existent here. I hoped it will be but the dialogue feels empty and random at best. A lot of repetition too. It’s like they keep saying the same things in 10 different occasions. It just get old fast.

I like the actors but the drama has nothing! It just feel empty. I don’t see any chemistry between the 2 main leads too. Some say they gave chemistry. I’m like what are those people talking about. The dialogue is strange and not consistent. It’s to me one of those overrated kdramas with internationals.
