It's raining obsessive characters in cdramas lately. It was SR in Princess Royal, Marquis Lu in The Rise of Ning…
I think the FL’s personality shift is intentional. In the flashbacks, when her master was alive, she was more animated, bubbly, and cheerful. Now, she seems more reserved and serious. Also, she doesn’t have the full Baize token and has to rely on the ZYZ to use her powers.
I’m not sure the Baize goddess is meant to be super powerful. The first goddess was supposed to die from the plague but ultimately committed suicide, and WX’s master was killed. It seems like the Baize Token is meant to be shared with the most powerful demon, so the demon would protect the goddess and help her protect the wilderness, kind of like a binding spell.
Has anyone read or watched The Wheel of Time series? I think it’s similar to how Aes Sedai bond with their Warders.
I have no comeback for your distaste for the recurring theme of obsession. Seems like that's the takeaway, folks. If it's not your cup of tea, feel free to drop it like it's hot, anytime.
I'm really enjoying the series so far! I think the humor is great, however I don't think it will be as prominent as the story unfolds.
I think Neo Hou is really doing good in his role! He’s captured the essence of his character’s demonized ape form pretty well. Apes are known for their humor, always joking and teasing each other, but they can also be pretty fierce when needed. Plus, his look is spot-on, especially with his hair color that reminds me of a silverback gorilla.
Lester's character is a riot, his scream and his personality are quite funny actually. It's nice to see a character that is 13 yrs. old act like a 13 yr old. Plenty of innocent ignorance and immaturity. I bet he has one of the biggest growth arcs in the drama. I'm looking forward to it.
Guyss, just wanna say, it's really not looking good so far. Literally everyone on Chinese media was saying that…
It seems like many of these deaths in the trailer, perhaps all, are actually dreams or hallucinations. The primary antagonist appears to possess the power to trigger hallucinations and the fish demon they are hunting, now, can induce nightmares (scare people to death).
Yaaaasss! I can’t believe this is finally airing in less than 6 hours! I’ve been counting down the days for this drama. The storyline looks epic, and the cast is amazing. Plus, with Edward Guo directing, you know it’s going to be visually stunning and totally gripping. His style and attention to detail always make his dramas stand out. 🎉📺
I think it's because though they were prepared for a little battle, they weren't fully prepared for how CP would…
Your points haven't swayed me. True, he was hurt, but he wasn't at death's door anymore, the snake's venom was taken care of. Sure, CP threw a wrench in the works by tainting the main water supply. But remember, he's a seasoned General and she's a skilled assassin. They're both depicted as clever and resourceful throughout the show. Once they realized they were cut off from their supplies and knew the travel time, they should've come up with a backup plan to secure food and water. That way, they'd be fit enough to travel and set up a shelter if it came to that. Leaving the hunter's cabin without packing light seems like a missed opportunity. No flame stick? It's hard to imagine they intended to eat the fish raw. And why not bring a bow and arrow? It's practical for hunting and doubles as a weapon.
To me, their descent into such a pitiful state seems off and out of character. Suffering, sure, but not to such an unbelievable degree. I'll let it slide though. Because it wouldn't be a drama without drama. 😊
Frankly, I'm quite disappointed with our lead's lack of survival skills. It seems implausible that a General and trained assassin, who is knowledgeable about plant identification and properties, would struggle to survive five days in the wilderness. This is especially true considering they knew the route they would take and departed without supplies from a hunter's cabin. I'm only about 15 mins into episode 15...maybe I will change my mind by the end of it.
Mixed feeling. More than half way and the main entanglements have not even been un-entangled for just one. Instead,…
I was really hoping that the mom's doppelganger would play a pivotal role in exposing the birth secret. Like, Duke Ying would meet her and LYN somehow and the cards get laid on the table. I suppose it could happen in future episodes.
At least JC has a souvenir collection from WZ to remember him by—stretch marks, shoulder 'piercings,' a neck 'accessory,' single motherhood, and let's not forget the clay cat!" 😅🤪😒
Nope, Pei Yan would be considered the emperor's son while Jiang Ci would be the emperor's niece (they did be cousins).…
Cousin marriages were not uncommon back then and are a very common theme in ancient Asian drams. Ancient China did have some of the more progressive rules against intra-family marriage, The exception that was not allowed is what JJJ explains in this thread, in regard to cousin marriages. However, in western and eastern ancient times, even sibling marriages were allowed in some areas and eras. Like Goryeo, ancient Japan, medieval Europe.
The spoilers coming from the novel readers is that Jan Ci's master died long ago and that this meeting and revelation…
Well, in the novel.....they never found bodies from the fire. Just the broken jade hairpin. So, I suppose it is possible he could escape the fire, badly injured and after some time of recuperating (seems to be always 3 years in Cdramas, lol), reunite with Ci in the mountains. Then live incognito happily ever after. My hopes aren't high for this because of what RJL spoiled. However, maybe RJL wasn't referring to the ending, but the character itself. Even with that type of ending, it's still pretty tragic. To be separated so long and missing the birth and raising of his child. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I genuinely feel sorry for Pei Yan. He’s being pulled in so many directions, almost like he’s enduring a drawn and quartered torture. His mother’s ambition far exceeds his own. Raised to protect the Pei family and their legacy, he discovers they are a bunch of scumbags. His mother aims to use and discard the Pei family for her own ambitions. While he’s loyal to the country, his mother is plotting treason. He wants to win JC’s heart and affection, but to protect himself and his mother, he might not be able to meet her expectations. Additionally, his upbringing seems to have left him without a proper understanding of love. He will have to make some tough decisions, and from the previews, it looks like he might give up on the Pei family. I have a feeling this is going to mess with his head quite a bit. I'm hoping the synopsis is correct and they do team up, and the ending isn't as bitter as the novel.
So far, it's more like the ML is forcing the FL to stay with SML, because the ML is dangerous and a bad person.…
It's complicated. The SML isn't exactly forcing her. She is in a situation where she has to rely on the SML for protection from the ML. The SML is also creating situations that make it hard for her to leave, he is using her. At the same time, the FL wants to repay the SML kindness for saving her, so she is somewhat willing to stick around. The main reason she hasn't left is because the ML has forced her to stay with the SML to be a spy. The dynamics between the characters, in the most recent episodes, are changing though.
