Honestly though, with all the hype around this show, I did have huge expectations. But the first ep was so blah, with the AI is a big mistake, it felt off. Direction is poor, it's like they strung together a bunch of random scenes, not sure how to make sense of it connecting the characters, and I don't know why they made it into some sort of a vertical drama. Somewhat disappointed. I'll still continue cause I have hope it gets better and not a sloppy hot mess.

I enjoyed these last 2 episodes. Fantastic chemistry and can't wait for the next ones!

This drama is the bomb. The development of the leads and their bond is so natural and non-toxic. Chen Yi is such a caring brother and their relationship is so sweet.

Yup. It's a damn shame seeing such random ignorant comments floating around in full display. Like OP interest waned because of it? No kidding, overdramatic, no? Just what is so uninteresting about the language here? It's a beautiful expressive language. Context matters and it absolutely fits the backdrop and decade with nostalgia in the mix. I mean the show can literally be entirely Cantonese with subs and I'd love it even more. I don't care what language is used in ANY show as long as it's their original voice and no dubs to maintain the authenticity.

Well to be fair OP was looking for a debate by saying "fight me." I think it's just ignorance and being close-minded by being accustomed to one language in a show. It's quite common for shows to use other languages too so I was confused what the "issue" was. It's fitting for this show so context matters. Go watch a Cantonese show with some Mandarin sprinkled in it and vice versa such as Mobius or Dream of Golden Years. Almost felt like paying for a burger but ranting why did the server offer free fries with it lol.

Totally agree. I found it hilarious OP targeted Cantonese as the scapegoat if the show potentially fails is sort of farfetched with a bit of ignorance. Out of all other legitimate reasons like the script, directing or acting to be critical of. Glad it's doing well, I'm instantly hooked!

Yeah I doubt its cause it's a LITTLE Cantonese spoken that is losing the viewers, if that's your point? I just find it weird you highlighted this "issue" when most of the scenes I saw in those 4 episodes were in fact exclusively in Mandarin.

People are losing it over the Cantonese? Man, that is the only dialect I understand in this whole show. Disagree with you on this, this gives me so much Greater Bay area vibes, I'm totally loving this show cause of IT. Embrace all languages with subs - I've heard Thai Japanese English French used in other shows so it's not a big deal lol.

what a great show such a gem to watch. just finished perfect crown and this show feels so much more interesting and better written.

Just finished the finale, it definitely felt rushed but also quite a bit of filler scenes which didn't imo add any substance. It's sort of disappointing cause I wasn't hooked on it after each ep anticipating the next. Both leads didn't do much for me either despite their visuals. I found IU character such a narcissist (her acting is ok) and BWS feels sort of wooden here. The whole point almost felt like this rich lady chased status, got it but didn't like it and went back to status quo and don't get me started with the grand prince's ending. The storyline didn't help either, it felt almost pretentious and wonder what was the whole purpose of this show. This show definitely has a entertainment factor of grandiose with little to no substance, and also not much re-watch value. Idk, that's just my two cents.

I mean looks are subjective but raised an eyebrow when OP pointed out their bias while throwing shade at ml and fl at the same time. I disagree since IU's wardrobe is some serious stuff.

I can point out many flaws in this show but the obvious one is that lack of chemistry between the leads whereas she has more chemistry with SML but whose been an awful king who prioritizes romance than his people. The other one is how green FL's acting is, or lack of, she basically has one expression and a lot of times she just seems immersed in her own little world. The other issue, and it pains me to say it, is the over fixation on the visuals - the frozen in time seconds and the hair blowing in the wind seemingly matters more than the substance of the show.

IU is doing a fantastic job in this show. She's such a versatile actress. BWS gives Sunjae vibes especially with his stares and demeanor.

The storyline sounds interesting but FL was so bland in her previous drama, I'm hoping she can emote better in this drama to show case her character well here. ML just came off from a well-received drama so I'm hoping to see a new side of him and if they can create chemistry here.

I get you. Despite how weirdly obsessed YX is towards CQ, I can't help but feel like they have way more chemistry and looking forward to their scenes. Plus they look visually more compatible as CP. Too bad they have no future and not the end game, maybe they can act together in another project lol.

That's like virtually all romance dramas. As long as they have chemistry and the acting is good, I don't see a problem with 'lite' shipping to support their idol. At the end of the day, it's entertainment. What does bother me is the crazy fans who takes things to the extreme and become intrusive and quite personal in their attacks. I get these entertainment agencies are trying to drum up anticipation but they need to do it in a better way that doesn't sow hatred especially for those obsessed fans. Easier said than done though.
