Ep 29 - drama keeps getting better and better. Love how the director emphasizes all the details. Like the scene where many ppl are put off w/. how he handled himself when he offered her the wine and looked at her when she drank it. It was clear that he was not all too proud of what he was doing but hoping she doesn’t catch on. I was surprised he didn’t recognize that she was hinting at wanting to go but realized he was too preoccupied w/ his own plot to bring her w/ him.
I was thinking how there was no way JX would just agree to let her stay considering how he has handled every problem he’s faced to get the results he wanted:
- first wife a problem, goes off to battle to avoid her.she’s not nice to him. He’s not nice to her. Than schemes to expose her infidelity. He didn’t even care or felt hurt that she was unfaithful. - imprisoned for inferior winter coats & embezzling $$, gets the Marquis to expose and capture the culprits. - wants to marry the girl that he had 0 chance (romantically, social status wise), goes above them all and obtains a royal edict. - wifey says I’m not going w/ you, takes action to get her to go.
In all these actions, he doesn’t confront them. He just does his thing behind their backs and bam. Hate or romanticize his actions, the fact is that he’s stayed true to his character.
the day we get rid of this shallow red flag discourse and understand that there is a fluidity in human behaviour…
For sure, count me in. I’m having so much fun watching such a quality drama. Good story telling with multilayered characters just seem to be difficult for some ppl to digest. It’s as if we’re so used to black and white idealized characters, we forget that in reality ppl are not black/white good guys/bad guys. I rememeber mdlers getting all upset b/c the “villain” wasn’t behaving villainous enough in “the blossoming love”. Hahaha

If you pay attention to all the ladies that LJQ’s mom wants him to marry, you see she values status and influence. FL has neither. Sure she saved them, but she is still a nobody and a nobody marrying the Lin family is just beyond embarrassing in her eyes.
Ep 28 - ljq is such a sly fox. Used the marquis to pressure his grandfather into allowing all of his siblings and their spouses to accompany him to the capital. Now, how will he convince his own wife?🤔

I don’t think so. The royal decree is to get what he wants - her. He’s been interested in her for a while as LanXuang. There has been no indication that he’s aware of her identity.
Ep 25 marriage decree - wow, even after reading everyone’s comments, I’m still not prepared for this scene. So good.just that scene reveals the character and viewpoints of the various characters. Thank you production team.
