I can't even start to defend this show honestly. I am very fed up, everything about it is so MF slow especially the couple dynamics, i cant even call it a BL when the main couple shared what was more of a reserved platonic relationship than a romance. The fact that the main lead was outshined by the support role and ended up playing the support role in his own drama was just too frustrating.
You can not tell me I waited 9 episodes and 3 quarters for a gay love confession and was served 3 minutes of couple skinship including a bus ride to school, seconds of a star gaze together and more tragically not even a kiss or a single peck. This is where I love Thai BLS cause they are so direct on these issues even if the development can be challenging but a BL will be a BL anyway. But HEESU IN CLASS 2. Honestly guys, we all signed up for it sure it was a BL and we've waited over a year and a half cause they had been announcing this since 2023 Like WUJU BAKERY which seems to have become a myth. Anyway we all expected some intimate scenes between HEESU and one of the two guys being the main role but the way this DRAMA became one hell of a STRAIGHT SHOW I ended up rooting for the hetero couples instead after being fed up of the patience is just so MIRACULOUS. Sorry actually. I hate everything about this show and I wrote this review after the first 4 episodes before the show got too dark for me.
Bottom line : I hate all the characters cause joe is foolish for falling for the super red flag and the other main is just too too inhumane. I also hate the guy Joe stands in for who takes advantage of the feelings of the people around him to have his way.
BUT : I like the show cause this is really something out there that happens. We obsess over celebrities and stuff but they have really got a dark side like the TAEIL MOTHERFUCKER of NCT127 who I thought was the Greenest flag before everything went down last year.
DON'T GET ME WRONG. I LOVED the show not because of the behaviours and characters but because the acting was perhaps amongst the best I have ever seen in many BLS. As a Guy I actually hate RED FLAGS like a lot and had about the same issue since I won’t understand how people love the character of FOURTH from FOUREVER YOU cause he's got the Red Flag vibes but overall the show is great and it matters.
And its funny cause I felt JOE towards the second half of the show had it in his power to actually stay away from that BITCH OF A GUY but he didn’t so I really blame him.
As a person who doesn't dwell on toxic issues I hope you understand my position through this excessively long message, to me at least, LOVING THE SHOW and HATING THE CHARACTERS are two different things which as a reviewer I personally consider for almost every BL you have watched and if you still think so, you can look at my reviews on other shows especially LOVE IN THE BIG CITY and STAY WITH ME.
Well best reply, I once asked the same question and people gave me such rubbish especially the shallow minded ones who can't distinguish between boyslove and bromance. Ps i love both.

Honestly Go Young wanted much more than he could realistically attain. When he met the Photographer he wanted someone who shared a vibe with him but that wasn't the case. The Photographer did try to change but Go Young didn’t entertain the idea.
Then again for a guy like him who was adventurous he might have realised a bit too late that he wasn't ready for a relationship which he thought he needed.
But perhaps the worst part of it was at the end Go Young realised too late that he still had a life ahead of him to worry about which wouldn't have been the case if he had chosen to embrace what he was given. I feel like maybe he would have had a good story or happy ending with the Photographer cause that guy loved him like crazy but Go Young had a career, he needed to put food on the table and at the end of it, it takes more than love to sustain a relationship.
Overall, Go Young was a naive character, he lost himself so much in searching for a perfect partner which logically doesn't exist and because of that he lost out on every good opportunity that came his way and ended up devoured by all the red flags. For starters he was too quick to judge people's outward appearances and too slow to judge their hearts.

I mean people are humans, they have feelings, I literally just thought that GO YOUNG might have felt like a test subject and a guinea pig all that time he was dating that PIG OF A MAN. But then again I'd say what was he expecting dating a guy who always looked at everything like it was tainted.

In a nutshell Go Young was the cheesy playful guy who ditched our serious ballad loving Photographer from his first model Gig, definitely 70% contributed to his death by a car accident and I'm sure those who watched know how he must have been guilty all this time.
That guilt made him try so hard even with scumbags like Youngsoo, that Senior researcher who was writing a publication on the evils of homosexuality while screwing his a**. Pause [What is wrong with most MEN?] replay.
Go Young definitely felt like trying hard since he must have never recovered from the trauma of that ballad guy but its like the Universe was unfair that every other choice thereafter had to confirm his self imposed fallacy that a GAY MAN COULD NEVER DREAM OF HAVING A HAPPY ENDING.
Wow he got aids, his military service was cut short not if it was something to be proud of but see he only needed one person to at least feel that after all he had been through perhaps made him understand or even try to understand what love is or is close to but I guess the bitter fact that was rubbed in our face was that he already had a chance, even if not the best, it was good enough, it could have perhaps led him to the best outcome, its just that he realised it too late and because it was too late the Universe punished his every attempt to make up for it and made it futile instead.
We were left with a withering dying man, all alone, with aids, his friends well ahead of him, and all those years of self discovery a wasted achievement of nothing.
He temporarily forgot that no moment lasts forever, everyone moves on, the world evolves and changes along with people and we can never be in full control. However, rather than facing it all alone it's better with someone by your side, the only problem is that for Go Young that person was already gone and he might have as well never been lucky in life again to ever find another one.
I dunno if this series speaks volumes to you like it has to me, I might reevaluate myself and call it the best BL of 2024 and probably ever, perhaps not because it is mainly a BL novel but rather because it is the Tragic testament of the Life of a Gay Man whose every yield in life was bitter🥺
Rewatched this show after 5 years as I never recovered from Nuer's death. Now this might sound really awkward but if there is oke thing i learnt, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE so make the most of it.
Damn, I love that the ending was tragic as Hell but most importantly, I love that this Classic is unforgettable at least for me
