Honestly this could have been so good, magic + crime-solving
Thought we are gonna see how she help to break those magic tricks used in crimes

In the end, there was barely any crime-solving (just some basic few secs explanation of the tricks), alot of meandering around, nothing much is actually happening, then all of a sudden, everything is squeezed into 5mins near the end, even the main villain motive suddenly changed in the last secs (the whole show, he wanted to be the sect leader yet somehow at the last sec, he said it was just a distraction for black robed alliance to bomb the city, like super WTF).
The writing and pacing is the biggest issue here.

And for those who are looking for romance, dont bother, theres barely any here.

3 hug scenes (not the lover's skinship kind, first hug was she caught a fever in cave and he hug to warm her, 2nd hug was more a comforting hug when he reveal the case hes investigating is related to her parents' death, 3rd hug is like a brotherhood hug from FL) and 1 kiss scene (its not a 'real' kiss, she was practising illusion magic with the boy, and in the illusion she kissed ML, while in reality she was kissing the curtain).

They never confess their feelings directly, although you can see ML falling in love with FL, while FL seems to be genuinely naive/ignorant to BGR feelings until the last sec of the drama, when she wanted to expel him from her sect (so that hes no longer her disciple), which signifies her wanting him as a lover

This drama really shows that, even with a small budget and being a mini-drama, an excellent drama can also be created

A decent cast of artistes, a competent DoP and proper colour grading done during post-production, combined with superb OSTs that actually matches the drama, really created a well-done drama that puts to shame many longer dramas with much higher budgets.

For a start, look at the gorgeous poster and compare to other cdrama posters

Yea agreed, YT void clothes in the last arc looks really good with her purplish-black eye shadow. Su Shui also looks really gorgeous in her void realm maid costume

Heavenly realm clothes looks way too much like the standard costume we get in other costume dramas

not just the heavenly emperor, his father as well, both are power hungry hypocrites

its so ironic that the tree was planted by their own grand empyrean from eons ago to prevent the Chaos from appearing, so as to ensure peace, yet they grew afraid of its power and chose to destroy it, inadvertently releasing the seal of Chaos

in the end for the next 10000 years, they kept on trying to seal the rift and sacrificing so many empyreans, when the heavenly emperor and his father should have been the one sent to seal the rift instead, just gets so angry thinking about it

yeap, thats why its so satisfying when he finally retaliated against that grand-chancellor uncle of his, who is the source of the rumours

exactly! its so annoying to watch when they make like 90% of the cast always opposing the main leads.

this is why TSL is so good, its like 90% of the cast are all supporting the main leads. Main cast going on adventures, rather than just a stagnant main political and a jealous love rival plot. Toxic/annoying characters here barely get screentime to burst our blood vessels (Biqiong, Heavenly emperor, Tunyun, Guangtian, Void empress, Dingyun)

Beginning of Ep36 is the real tearjerker, FL crying on bed with her father was really heart-wrenching, her wailing is totally spot-on!

Agreed. Wudai is a real honourable man, he didnt treat CF and his mum badly even though they were from a sinner's clan, he treated everyone with respect. He helped plead for CF on 2 occasions when he could have used the situation in his favour instead. He doesnt play dirty or use scheming tricks to be the Crown Prince.

I also like how he does self-reflection even though hes one of the strongest warriors, e.g when he lost to QK, instead of being salty and feeling humiliated, he wanted to learn more about medicine from her, and the last ep, he moved on after self-reflecting in prison that Void realm was indeed at fault too and he told CF to do the same, move on

Exactly!! He really got my blood boiling, I hated him way more than the Void Realm villains

I believed its because of the heavenly emperor, he was really grating!!!
Really wanted FL to off him instead of just destroying his skills and cultivations

yeah! that 2 episodes after the exposure of their swapped marriage to the death of Man Man (31-33) was some of the best, 4 of them living together and being totally free, their interactions were really funny

I dont think he actually has any ex-girlfriends. More like hes just patronising the brothels to keep up the pretense of being a useless bum at the beginning

Sadly we didnt get to see it happening as it was narrated by Ziwu to them, when she went down to the mortal realm to pass them food/medicine given by the empress

yeap, in ep32, the heavenly empress condemned her own clan and dragged the biatch fairy back to the clan to be punished. Really shows how much the empress really loves FL

Anyone has the same thinking as me? I find Su Shui really pretty especially in the costume she wears when shes back in Void Realm, the simplicity of the dress really suits her

yeah, watched some BTS clips on youku, seems like hes quite a prankster on set and a health nut. He literally dragging his cast mates to gyms lol. Hes always exchanging gyming tips with the void emperor on set and gyming frequently with Fei Chi (his attendant)

In ep 30, he ate the pill given by the saintess, and immediately after in ep31 during the exposure of the swap marriage, he regained his full power but he didnt use it because 2FL changed the story and pushed all the blame to the empress

No love triangle. The 2ML likes the FL, but hes non-toxic/non-annoying and is part of their investigative team, FL have always treated him as a friend, and never gave him hope

The main couple got together at end of ep31

No secondary couple. 2FL likes Mu Yan but he disappeared for like 95% of the show until the plot twist

Do note, this is not a heavy romance-focused drama. Most of the screentime is still towards the investigative and mystery aspect

Nope they are not living together, everytime after Lao Hu sent Jiu Er home, he will go off...although they didnt show where he stay and his house

Lao Hu is not her second husband, he had a crush on her but didnt confess.
