This drama is by no means perfect, its a really light romcom, with not much villain screentime as well, and the middle part of the drama being a drag since its basically like a rehash of the first part
Additionally, I think alot of people forgot or doesn't realise that this is a sequel to Go Princess Go. They took offense to the modern language and the pyjamas FL wore, and the european cosplay/buffet.

imo, I felt this falls way behind A Familiar Stranger and An Ancient Love Song A Killer is Also Romantic is also better story/character-wise, just not in the cinematography department
This drama starts off with an intriguing and banging first epi, and by the mid-series, the show becomes draggy and meandering. Honestly, it will be so much more epic seeing the badass female fight like in ep1. However, what we got after that is just endless 'nothing much is happening', there was almost no story at all, they keep harping on butterfly poison, yet there was no flashback, simple explanation done with characters talking to each other.
Its like watching 2 person going about their daily lives with a side story of being poisoned.
Not to mention, what kinda ending is that??? This kinda ending is worse than even a sad ending

Its very light-hearted and comedic actually, probably the last arc have some heart-breaking moments, but never felt any angst from this drama. No love triangles, annoying characters barely have screentime, a group of great friends and extremely supportive mom-in-laws. Its a great watch!

I just dropped Longest Promise at ep20, exact halfway mark. Its bad, the drama felt like some promotional advertisement or music video to satisfy the ML fanbase, fanservice if you will.
Too many lingering shots on the ML acting pretty, honestly, its really cringey, and definitely turned me off from watching any more of his shows. His fanbase is really toxic as well, on the TLP comments page, they are all bashing FL for her ugliness and insulting anyone who leaves a negative comment. Gosh!

This show is really great! Very light-hearted and comedic for its genre, not much angst, no toxic love triangle and toxic mother-in-laws. Annoying characters barely have much screentime as well. Alot of loveable characters in the show.
Jealous fans of traffic actors who know their favs' dramas can't touch this unique piece here

I went to watch The Longest Promise after this drama, and I ended up dropping it halfway. The whole drama felt more like a fan service for the fanbase of the ML, so many lingering and filler shots of him just meandering around, they are shot to look like an advertisement or music video showcasing the 'pretty' ML. Honestly sick of these traffic-idol-actors, even worse is their toxic fanbase.
TLP comments have so many ML's fans bashing the FL and calling her ugly, insulting anyone who leaves a negative comment, blaming WeTV/MDL/LYF for the lower than expected rating.
Its a beautiful natural sad ending, any happy ending here will be unnatural and inappropriate. So the only thing ML can do in the future is to restore her reputation
From the FL's pov, its actually a happy ending, because her death actually meant something, and at the same time her wish was fulfilled, because after 15yrs, she finally managed to see ML 1 last time before she jumped.
Because the story is told in reverse order, the ending is literally the first scene in episode 1
Low budget but you can't even tell its low budget, the story/cinematography/colour grading easily beats alot of S-tier productions
FL is on fire in this drama!! Her styling/makeup/costumes and acting from 51yrs -> 36 -> 26 -> 21 -> 18, is so on point! Its made all the more obvious when you compare her to the 2FL and 2ML during the same periods
Lu Yuan is really a tragic character, felt so sad for her, lost her bro, separated from the ML by time, commit suicide to help her adopted son strengthen his grip on the kingdoms, carry a bad reputation even in death :(

Agreed. People are saying what a good villain LZS is, when infact, its just plain lazy writing. The antagonists can literally waltz everywhere, just barged into leads' house and conduct searches. Openly sabotaging the leads, even when the leads are higher ranked, and everyone onscreen just pretend like its normal, wtf

No love triangle, but that Bai Xiao Sheng is goddamn annoying from ep17 to the mids-20s.
Its less angsty, less draggy, more comedic and light-hearted, and a well-written FL
This show is more inline with the vibes of TSL
