i think they mention in one of the recent eps that princes aren't allowed to lead armies outside the capital in…
i guess he considered the information network more effective and less risky bc if he gets caught raising an army it will absolutely be seen as rebellion
i think from the last eps BFX has lowkey known all along that she has feelings for FLX but can't admit it yet bc as Bai Feng Xi she could never be with Feng Lan Xi. she has to be Feng Xi Yun for the relationship to stand a chance.
as far as she knows Lan Xi's ultimate goal is to rule the world so she doesn't want to be an obstacle to his dream. i liked the foreshadowing in the scene when they are undercover with the troupe and Lan Xi is in character saying he loved performing most before he met his wife but then realised she was all he wanted :)
he needs to find out her secret identity pronto but the trailers for the next few eps aren't encouraging!

he's def annoying but i don't think the king is stupid. i think he's scheming and all he cares about is keeping the balance of power between his sons so they don't threaten his throne.
he certainly doesn't care about the corruption and people suffering as a consequence, only that they don't get caught and embarrass him - so he's PoS and i await his downfall :)
maybe in ep 30 he actually sees BFX again and changes his mind about yuozhou princess 😅
