I must be the only one who didn’t really like Revenged Love as it was pure romance so I much prefer this one that is a mix of political battle and BL.

Couldn’t agree with you more. This drama goes steady all along the episodes, even increasing in intensity.
The writing is solid, the ending very satisfying.
Some secondary characters really stand out :
Old Bug, Blue Cat and the prince.
The best detective drama of the year !

I also thought of Ancient Detective watching this.

My hypothesis is that they put Xiao Bei Ming’s blood in the well.

The part with the deadly poison at the beginning that is the cure at the end is absolutely fantastic ! And also, a bit plausible.

I couldn’t agree with you more. I’m not a romance for romance person, whether in books or in TV drama.
The best couple I’ve ever seen in a TV show is one in a spy story. At one point, the hero has dinner at his boss’ house. The boss’s husband casually prepares a pizza and sits beside him. Normal life, depicted very « normally ».
Fantastic writing !
In TWD, the two couples exist in a team with a single man. Everyone being friendly, without the single man feeling left out.

To be honest, I find them really good together as team members rather than lovers. The good thing is : we see them a lot more as team members !

I just finished the drama and I must say it’s been an enjoyable ride !
The plot managed to stay coherent throughout the 36 episodes. I love that Tong Shuang was Yesha ; I love that the antidote came from Xiao Bei Ming’s blood !
Very very smart this idea !
And also very plausible, when we think of blood transfusion and antibodies (even though a poison doesn’t work the same way as a poison).
Some moments were truly intense : when Xiao Bei Ming confronted the prince, also where he spoke to the emperor.
And when we realized that Xueman had taken the poison to save them all… What a fantastic idea.
The intensity of this drama has been increasing throughout the episodes : it started slowly, as a classic detective story, evolving to a revenge story with political aspects. And in the last episodes : firebirds, colored clouds, weird animals !
What a show !
I really am going to miss my daily dose of well constructed mystery.
