Not a spoiler…but a little warning for anyone out there like me who has paralysing fear of dentists…tigger warning for ep 2…the dentist scene: it’s tame, just drill sounds and a little thing that supposed to be a little dark humour…I would say its fine to watch but I wished I muted it as I personally don’t deal with drill sounds well. It raised my dentist anxiety just enough to feel like I was trying to crawl my way back inside my own body 😁

I really do not even see an issue he is easily one of the best actors in Korea and whenever he does a show it…
I am of the unpopular opinion that it is a complete non issue.

It’s for example like saying that in the mere muggle realm we live in, an employee with more skills, qualifications, experience and achievements should take a pay cut to match everyone in a similar job role because it’s altruistic. I would like to see any one us take pay cut voluntarily as he did…he is a better person than I.

Yes I get that people are saying that we should take into consideration the production staff, script writers etc that an actor taking lower price will give them more. However we shouldn’t scapegoat a single actor being paid what he worth as the problem. This is a wide spread issue with the entertainment industry, not just Korea, it’s global. Production companies want to get the most out of the minimum of investment.

I say blame the industry not the actor. It’s like tipping in the US service industry, businesses use at as a way to pay their employees below minimum wage, saves them money. Invest the minimum amount of money into a production, sign up an established leading actor, expect tight shooting deadlines, long hours, promotional work, their fan base, their brand etc and hope they take pay cut so you don’t have to invest more and fill in your shortfall for the crew and writers etc.

Thank you for listening to my TED talk 🤣

There is this thing called a “market” that determines costs of products and people’s pay. If the market…
Taking that’s $597…

If we calculate the that a single episode can take up 4 days, maybe 5 if we add reshoots. That’s a typical working week. Let’s say 5 months straight, no downtime shooting time as they really like to cram in the work. That’s about $12m per drama, now nuke that amount by about 45% for tax and tasty chunk of 20% for management and admin fees, you are getting about $420k in total per drama.

Hell, if could $420k even pre tax as my annual salary, I would be jumping on that ship and setting sail, never to look back 🤣 but we can see I have spent what can only be seen as far too long doing this hypothetical kdrama salary calculation than my actual day job, so I wave that ship goodbye

I entirely agree with you, no one should be expected to work for free or below their market worth, we wouldn’t why should we expect well known actors to take hit for our entertainment, they have bills to pay also.

I agree with what you said about him being given the same type of dramas lately. I like him too. I did not know…
The rumours going around that he was at odds with his management. They were not giving options for diverse roles, trying to make him agree to taking two dramas at once with him refusing as it is not professional. They were keeping him the idol genre when he in his late 30s and could do with moving on. He apparently tried to buy himself out of his contract and they refused. His contract is due to expire but to stop them making him do more roles and renewing the best option is to retire that way he can’t be forced into something he doesn’t want. It’s toxic management.

Or he could just have had enough and wants a different life. Hell if didn’t have to work for a living I would jump this working ship without a second thought 🤣

Do we ever get any scenes of how Moli and JinCao met or their early dating life?
Not really, other than what may been shown before as flashbacks

2ML?
Not in a romantic sense but cooperation scenario does put added strain on the already complicated family dynamic.

How did you watch the rest? I’m anxiously waiting but stuck on 18. I’m tempted to read your spoiler but this…
I bought the express package on the WeTV app 🥰

Watch it through its worth it, but I know there people like I am usually with other dramas that like know the type of ending…when I get an express package, I like to provide the service as an ‘express fortune teller’ for all those with drama anxiety who need absolute certainty and no surprises

I quit live your own life around episode 20 when she was still not living her own life. I got so tired of the…
I loved the beginning and middle of the drama…for me once they concluded the evil mother and business arch, it kind of went ‘meh’… I didn’t help that I found the SML was the most complex and interesting character and so was more invested in his story.
I felt like they ran out ideas but still had eps to fill, so out came the long lost father and livers.. Personally I like a good hate-watch and I wasn’t left if anything decent enough to fuel my suffering 🙁

‘The Third Marriage’ - that crazy is riding out all the way to the end 😁

However the first ep for this drama I found it’s a good start, I liked the kids as the opening story introduction.

I have expressed the remaining eps so if anyone is interested or suffer from drama anxiety like myself, see below…
A decent finish, I liked the realism of the fathers and the complicated feelings of the collateral damage that an abusive relationship can have especially when you see how differently an egotistical man acts around family and his friends, . I feel he got the ending he deserved, bitter and angry (no redemption arch)

Random money laundering with the FLs client, kind of thrown in to give another obstacle, I would have rather more on the parents divorce proceedings and that impact.

Secondary characters, water breaks at marriage registration 🤣 that made me smile.

Happy ending for main couple. They made it through and I found it all a great portrayal that not all relationships are plain sailing. They need work, trust and maybe a little dash of psycho chick to add stalkery spice 😁

Getting my makjang bingo cards at the ready…

I hoping for this to be either sweet and angsty or a complete ‘hate watch’.
Anything better than the last 3rd of “Live you Own Life”. That started off as shirtless wonderland, then the writers made all the characters so bland, that it was like watching stacks of A4 paper for the remaining 15+ eps.

Well I would say this drama was ok….it was definitely not Autumn Ballad level chemistry and quality. However this is just how I felt, if others loved it then I am all for them 👍

As much as I adore Jeremy Tsui, I have felt that with his last couple of dramas that he has been “phoning it in” and I don’t blame him. If you are given the same type of script for the same type of drama time and again, pushed to chug out production after production, by your trash management with little rest or time off. Hell, I would be just going the motions to get it done and get out.

I hope that with his “retirement” he will finally have the chance to stop, rest, figure out what makes him happy and live his best life. And if in future he decides to come back, I hope a decent management company grab him with both hands and let him get some diverse projects. He a great actor with a range I feel with have not been allowed to see.

Until then, I would like to begin a kickstarter for him to narrate audiobooks or really anything with words and/or become my Siri/alexa voice😊
