Reading the novel from the beginning as I wait for this series! Skimmed through the ending chapters as well and I can totally see why ppl rave about the story. I think they did a good job casting the leads, they look the part and can see them in all the scenes! I’m assuming there will be changes due to censorship but am hoping they are faithful to the main plot. Kinda sad Lin Shuang He will not be in the drama (I don’t see his name), including him would not affect the # of eps!
1. HZB first heard of XZY's death 1 month later when he was chatting with his master (Dingjian pavillion's head).…
Wow thanks for sharing this! I assumed the drama was a much more forgiving and kind to the viewers vs the novel. I prefer the drama's ending for Tong since it was a more peaceful one for him to let go and not fight anymore - one that I'm sure ZY would have wanted for him. I think it’s unfortunate that Tong went forward with being the new leader. I skimmed through parts of the novel’s ending - Tong is still ambitious. He called truce with HZB but only to buy time to get ready for war. Did they ever explain why he wanted to continue fighting? Why he had to be enemies with the sword sect/HZB? In the end it feels like ZY’s sacrifice was in vain, only for her loved ones to end up fighting each other. But on another hand, I can understand why she did it because she would not allow herself to see another loved one die in front of her. In a way it was to fulfill her own self.
MF’s character captivated me - maybe because of the blue hair that made him look ethereal haha. He didn’t have a lot of screen time but left a good impression. His character trajectory/ending was quite nice considering the sins he committed. To renounce his life from the martial arts world and become a healer finding peace in the valley was the best possible ending for him. His feelings for ZY sometimes felt ambiguous, maybe because of the chemistry they had. She was the person who pulled him out of darkness and allowed him to feel warmth again. His saviour. I feel like he is a such a pure person by nature and one who would return kindness in ten-fold (seeing how he treated the doctrine leader and ZY who saved him). Perhaps it’s gratitude but cannot help but feel there was a bud of romantic feelings toward ZY. In the novel, it was described that he continued playing the song from time to time - guess reminiscing about ZY?
Not usually a fan of tragic storylines but they are always the ones that leave the biggest impression. It is bittersweet because all the characters were chained to some sort of obsession/attachment even in the end, but one they would not regret about. I guess that’s the beauty behind this story, as not all stories have a HE, or redeemable characters (I assume Chonghua was watered down in the drama vs novel).
Any novel readers here to enlighten me on what actually happened in the book? From my limited Chinese - it appears that HZB learned about ZY’s death through MF (not ZY’s shifu as shown in the drama), correct? He also didn’t get all the details on ZY’s death like he did in the drama because MF thought the truth was too cruel for him to know right? How did HZB spend the rest of his life in the book? I don’t think we got a scene of an older version of him at the end. I will say they were a bit more kind to us in the drama by showing the scene in the ending credits, maybe some hope that the main leads will reunite again one day.
Also wish we got to see more of MF, love complex characters. Was he in love with ZY? Considering there wasn’t much of a development between them, it was hard to believe at times
Costume Drama “The Rise Of Ning” will be broadcast on Tencent after drama “Love Of Nirvana” ends. https://x.com/Allcbizmelons/status/1836693956916297988?t=MkZYOpDbbTLAtwOvcw2xUw&s=19
yeah I felt the ending rushed too due to this... but ig that one is her reincarnation self... you can she the…
I am just a little more than halfway through the series but from what I’ve seen in the ending clips, it is definitely very rushed. I read snippets of the novel’s ending which gives more insight on what happens, and it makes more sense.
TY’s hair turns grey from the moment she dies because of pure grief. The novel does a better job illustrating his heartbreak, he wanted to follow her in death. But the illusion demon tells him that YH will come back and find him so long as he lives on and remembers her (if he dies and reincarnates, he will lose his memory). YH basically has some sorta object given to her so she can remember TY after she dies. When she reincarnated, she went to find him as promised and they live happily ever after (the extra chapters show their married life and having their first child).
Perhaps due to censorship, they had to omit the whole reincarnation concept. I also find most dramas end rushed too, which is a shame.
Just had a thought - BLDJ and YDZ remind me of Guo Jing and Yang Kang from Legend of the Condor Heroes. The brotherhood and friendship in Dashing Youth is a lot stronger, but I found parallels in the fate of their characters. Like Guo Jing, BLDJ was a good friend who wanted to help til the end.
I wonder if this is how her character was portrayed in the novel. I sympathize with the fact that she was forced…
Wow that’s crazy. And they are full bros with the same mother too. XRF supported his brother from the beginning to end. How tragic. But then again, I can see XRF was to blame from enabling XRJ (i.e. allowing the wedding with YWJ - the catalyst for chaos) and giving the throne to him. Did XRJ ever know that their father wanted to pass the throne to XRF?
Also I assume when XRF died, so did Lei Meng Sha right?
LOL yes I have been asking about this and wanna know the logic but am getting different responses
Yes I heard this but it doesn’t make sense because some other comment said he can tell the difference between the two sisters from their eyes. And at the end of the DY novel (if I’m not mistaken) when YY asks DJ if he hates YQ, he says hating YQ won’t make a difference since YDZ is dead (so it doesn’t sound like he would seek revenge)
Also question - did BLDJ really beat YDZ in the final fight or did YDZ yield to BLDJ? Clearly they didn’t want to harm each other, but given that BLDJ lost his powers previously, it is almost too good to be true for him to renew his powers in a short period of time and defeat YDZ (by a slight margin). wonder how it was in the novel

Okay so there were deleted/special scenes after ep 40 - are these official? When I finished the last episode today I wondered why they didn't show BLDJ bringing little Anshi to the master and realize it was shown in the extra episodes instead. There are a number of other parts we didn't see in the actual drama (about 12 snippets) - I assume they just couldn't fit it all in the max 40 slot they had?
