I just finished the novel and omg that was probably the best love story I've read! So touching, and had some laughs. There is no love like He Yan and Xiao Jue's. I know the drama will be a bit different (will be hard to not compare the two), but I hope they can be as faithful as they can with the plot and characters.
Do they normally edit actors out for scandals like these? I understand what happened is not ideal but shouldn’t these measures only be taken if it were a serious crime? Ugh they could just release the drama as is and not include him the promotional events?
If his character was combined with Li Shuang He then he will have quite a few scenes. The editing will be too distracting
The news is true and currently trends number 1 in China. Different from before which was only controversies, this…
I don’t know much about this actor or situation. Is there more to it besides the drama he had with another actor, and the car incident? I really hope this doesn’t warrant him being edited out. I can understand if there was a serious crime involved but omg praying things resolve smoothly.
Ugh what?! I was so afraid this was gonna happen. This will totally affect the quality of the drama
I really hope they don’t but I have a feeling they might edit him out at this rate. So upsetting especially for the cast and crew who worked on this, and the fans who have been waiting!
Omg was this confirmed? I kept scrolling through the cast list wondering why Lin Shuang He wasn’t there and…
That’s lame. LSH has a bigger role - the physician, the best friend, the wingman. I love his friendship with not only XJ but our heroine HY as well! A highlight in the book. Why did they think combining him and CLS was a good idea? I guess there wasn’t enough budget to hire another actor…and to simplify the story since it’s a drama with limited episodes. But I would have preferred LSH over including CLS.
To make matters worse with this whole scandal, the actor’s face will probably be edited out which really takes away from the quality of the show.
bro im hopeless.... it's a mistake they combined the characters of cheng lisu and lin shuanghe. it will gonna…
Omg was this confirmed? I kept scrolling through the cast list wondering why Lin Shuang He wasn’t there and actually wondered if they combined characters. But LSH deserves his own role, he is one of my faves!!!
I heard the ML was gonna do his own but just read somewhere on weibo that they both will be dubbed. Not sure if that’s true, but if so, that is unfortunate
Thoroughly enjoying the novel and REALLY hope they can stay as faithful to the original as possible. I’ve also been watching bts fancams of the leads and am already shipping them so hard LOL, what to do?! Thought after Back from the Brink, I would not ship Zhou Ye with anyone eIse but hard not to after seeing the videos and photos (yes I know should only ship the characters but give me a min to fangirl). I think the actors are perfect for the roles. Hope they release the drama soon!!!
Reading the novel from the beginning as I wait for this series! Skimmed through the ending chapters as well and I can totally see why ppl rave about the story. I think they did a good job casting the leads, they look the part and can see them in all the scenes! I’m assuming there will be changes due to censorship but am hoping they are faithful to the main plot. Kinda sad Lin Shuang He will not be in the drama (I don’t see his name), including him would not affect the # of eps!
1. HZB first heard of XZY's death 1 month later when he was chatting with his master (Dingjian pavillion's head).…
Wow thanks for sharing this! I assumed the drama was a much more forgiving and kind to the viewers vs the novel. I prefer the drama's ending for Tong since it was a more peaceful one for him to let go and not fight anymore - one that I'm sure ZY would have wanted for him. I think it’s unfortunate that Tong went forward with being the new leader. I skimmed through parts of the novel’s ending - Tong is still ambitious. He called truce with HZB but only to buy time to get ready for war. Did they ever explain why he wanted to continue fighting? Why he had to be enemies with the sword sect/HZB? In the end it feels like ZY’s sacrifice was in vain, only for her loved ones to end up fighting each other. But on another hand, I can understand why she did it because she would not allow herself to see another loved one die in front of her. In a way it was to fulfill her own self.
MF’s character captivated me - maybe because of the blue hair that made him look ethereal haha. He didn’t have a lot of screen time but left a good impression. His character trajectory/ending was quite nice considering the sins he committed. To renounce his life from the martial arts world and become a healer finding peace in the valley was the best possible ending for him. His feelings for ZY sometimes felt ambiguous, maybe because of the chemistry they had. She was the person who pulled him out of darkness and allowed him to feel warmth again. His saviour. I feel like he is a such a pure person by nature and one who would return kindness in ten-fold (seeing how he treated the doctrine leader and ZY who saved him). Perhaps it’s gratitude but cannot help but feel there was a bud of romantic feelings toward ZY. In the novel, it was described that he continued playing the song from time to time - guess reminiscing about ZY?
Not usually a fan of tragic storylines but they are always the ones that leave the biggest impression. It is bittersweet because all the characters were chained to some sort of obsession/attachment even in the end, but one they would not regret about. I guess that’s the beauty behind this story, as not all stories have a HE, or redeemable characters (I assume Chonghua was watered down in the drama vs novel).
Any novel readers here to enlighten me on what actually happened in the book? From my limited Chinese - it appears that HZB learned about ZY’s death through MF (not ZY’s shifu as shown in the drama), correct? He also didn’t get all the details on ZY’s death like he did in the drama because MF thought the truth was too cruel for him to know right? How did HZB spend the rest of his life in the book? I don’t think we got a scene of an older version of him at the end. I will say they were a bit more kind to us in the drama by showing the scene in the ending credits, maybe some hope that the main leads will reunite again one day.
Also wish we got to see more of MF, love complex characters. Was he in love with ZY? Considering there wasn’t much of a development between them, it was hard to believe at times
