Just finished ep 1. It's a pretty nice drama so far. I was rooting for Duanwu's safety the entire time! So glad…
In a story, It's a TABOO to make the female character a plain Jain from what I've noticed. Not saying your point isn't valid dear but You have to make the Female character scream FEMALE CHARACTER. I don't know if you get but if she's PLAIN then.... what makes her grab the audience? There's something we call the main character aura. She has to have it, even if it means being MORE BEAUTIFUL THAN everyone in her slavery situation ( not not overdoing it like making her look dazzling beautiful as a slave idk if you get)
here I would like to take an exert from AvenueX review on Kill me love me where she says ..FL standing beside the 2nd female lead FEELS like the 2nd FL is the FL because the 2nd FL GRABS all the attention. and FL feels.... bland. she further explains that if you walk into a room for the first time and see the drama you'd think 2FL is the main character and FL a maid or something.
So in reference to this, The audience doesn't really care if FL is keeping her hair down like other slave, What they want is WHO IS the FL and How is she standing out to the audience. SO what a writer or a story teller or director wants to do is Although fitting the FL into her role as FL, She has to STAND out and scream FEMALE character for audience to go zoom in
I don't know if you understand what I'm saying. Like the scene of the dance, girl couldn't be like Literally all of them.. At least give her a touch or two so anyone walking into the room would know she is the FL and the focus here. even at the beginning scene. It's better to tell them she is the FL without writing on her forehead ( without breaking character of making her look like a princess where she's a slave, a fault I found in Beauty of resilience where FL is prettier than the master even if she's a servant) Than making her a plain Jain fading off amongst others even before the drama starts.
Dropped My Review π₯Ήπ₯Ήπ₯Ή It's long but sure haha. I tried to cut off some parts till the last episode but So far it's an engaging watch! The development is so natural
What the hell is mr 2nd lead investigating π
