1st, This is not an American movie and trust me... American have made worse show somewhere on earth that are more jaw dropping. Because I think this show gave you 2 ending at the same time. 1st to me is the Most dominant ending here which is the sad ending. where we see them in that bus and later diess. And we can believe that they died because We in the last scene see them coming out from there and as they run they enter a bright light where they run through a beautiful scenery, happily. 2nd ending one can take it as they actually didn't die. but MIGHT have survived the Storm? but I think this is unlikely. Omg I think we got another ending theory.
The writers swings and interesting answers to the theme of the show through this ending but clashing the two above ending I made.
We know in the movie the two liked each other and are basically Not ready to accept themselves and be together because of society and all. so in the ending the coming out of the place after the storm can be a figurative way of the Writer saying.
so in the end they overcame all These trouble they've been through and come to accept themselves " happily" which is them happily running through the grass. as a figurative way of saying now they have accepted themselves. In this explanation, we can't say that died or lived. But rather we can only say They have accepted themselves and are happy with what they have accepted.
as they came out we hear them say were we reborn and then say No, we aren't but at least it's better like this... something like that. per say this is vague and unclear. so in my opinion It's them dying and like saying we didn't reborn? or one can also interpret the reply of no, we weren't etc as them ready to accept what they've become.
